I have been very impressed with the level of attention to residents by staff. Fabulous range of activities offered to help keep spirits up. Keep up the good work!
Sydmar Lodge provides loving care in a homely atmosphere with good food and great interactive entertainment.
The care my mother receives on a daily basis is excellent. All the staff are always friendly and very helpful
My mother has been a resident at Sydmar Lodge for the past 3 months. During that time I have been very satisfied with the level of care and attention she has received. The facilities are good and well kept. She says the food is good. The activities programme is excellent, and the organiser makes every effort to engage the residents.
The staff are really personable and do a very difficult job with a smile on their faces. My mother is well cared for and the manager and activity staff deserve a special recommendation.
My father is well looked after. Fed very well and entertained every day. The staff are very caring and very hard working.
Sydmar Lodge is well run by the management team all of whom are approachable and good listeners. The property is bright and airy, always smells fresh and there are many activities in which the residents can optionally participate.
Overall Sydmar Lodge has a lovely family feel to it and is always full of visitors who are encouraged to come along any time that suits them.
In recent months there has been a lot of redecorating and new flooring put down in the common areas and it is evident that the owners are investing in the property for the longer term which is a very positive indicator indeed
A wonderful residential Care Home in Edgware. Management staff, carers and every person here treats the residents with the respect, love and care that they need at this stage of their lives. The staff are friendly, professional, approachable and always on hand and willing to help.
Our Mum was here for over four years and there was never an occasion to complain about her care.
Sadly she passed away at the end of last year but I will be forever grateful to Sydmar Lodge for providing her with a wonderful quality of life. Thank you.
My Father-in-law sadly passed away and was in Sydmar Lodge for a very short time, but I felt the need to leave a review because, to be honest, it is really hard to put into words how caring this home is. They were absolutely amazing with him and sympathetic to his needs from the minute he arrived. He was treated with respect and with compassion and I would have no hesitation in recommending this home.
My mother was resident June 2012 and December 2015. Subsequently, my father was a resident from November 2014 and continues to be a resident. I am impressed by the current management team, the food and the entertainment.
My mother has been here nearly five years and has received excellent care and nursing. The staff are very helpful and informative and any medical issues have been dealt with very professionally. The entertainment and activities are very impressive and my mother always seems happy. I always recommend the home.
My mother has been resident here for almost 6 1/2 years. Her dementia has progressed but she is loved and cared for by the staff with tenderness and dignity.
We could not have hoped for, nor find, better care. The care is beyond measure. Sydmar Lodge truly is a 'care home'.
I'm really happy that mum just isn't left on her own all day.
They observe all the Jewish holidays and Shabbat every week.
It is very clean and they have a nice garden which they encourage the residents to use.
The food is also good and there is always a choice.
All round, very good with excellent staff. In general a nice environment for the residents.
Wonderful care from all the staff. Entertainment excellent. My father is treated with dignity and respect.
Soon after arriving, we watched her go from strength to strength. She feels safe with the carers and is always well looked after. She is always dressed well, clean and well presented. She is well fed and kept hydrated.
She enjoys going to the activities. If I think back to how she was only a few months ago, the improvement is remarkable. Thank you Sydmar Lodge.
My Mother is now 93 years of age and has been in Sydmar Lodge for some years and we have been through several managers and owners in the past. My mother is frail and wheelchair-bound, with a very unusual form of dementia. She is a challenge for the staff and indeed for health carers in general due to her unusual condition.
I have found since the new manager took over that the home has improved enormously under her firm but caring guidance. The staff are professional and attentive to all the Residents and the care is absolutely wonderful. My Mother is always immaculate, groomed, and attended to. Her dietary requirements are seen to and her challenging behaviour is well met.
The Home is a warm, caring welcome place to be. The Residents are the priority with all employees and I have no doubt that my Mother's care is the main factor in her continued well-being and I am very grateful for them. I would not wish her to be anywhere else at this stage in her life. Thank you.
R
They are very caring and she has made some friends as well.
Our family have been on a long journey looking for good quality care. We have learned that beautiful decor doesn't necessarily equate to high standards.
At Sydmar Lodge the team are beyond patient, calm and kind. They always treat my Dad with respect and try their hardest to understand everything he is attempting to say. They remain upbeat even when events are incredibly trying which of course they often are. Above all they try to make those at the home feel secure and most important of all, happy. Happiness in these situations should be a given but it is all too often very rare. The home is well run, the care carefully managed and unusually they also have a coordinator who as a brilliant pianist really brightens up the day. I can only highly recommend it.

Meet the Team (1)

Julia has worked in the care sector for over 30 years, and at Sydmar Lodge since 2016. Before this, she worked as a Regional Manager for a large corporate care organisation, covering 9 care homes and 13 day centres. She is passionate about resident care, and missed the direct contact with people and their families, which is why she returned to Home Management, and chose Sydmar Lodge as it has always been known for it's family oriented atmosphere.
On Wednesday, 7 January 2026, Julia was presented with a Gold Award by Deborah Sturdy, Chief Nurse for Adult Social Care at the Department of Health and Social Care. The award recognises individuals and teams for outstanding contribution, leadership, and innovation within social care.
