I am so grateful to the staff at Torkington House for the wonderful care my Mum received during her last few years of life. Mum had always suffered with depression but during her time in the home she became happier than she had been in years because of the love that she received from staff that looked after her. She had never eaten very well and despite 2 years of me trying to find ways to get her interested in eating I was unsuccessful. The team at Torkington House managed to get her eating again and she gained weight and became physically much healthier. The love that they showed my Mum made me cry on a number of occasions and when Mum died, several team members were also in tears - you can tell that they do not see their work as only a job and they form real bonds with the residents. I really cannot speak highly enough of the home and the amazing team that work there - they made my Mum's last years happier and healthier and allowed her to pass with dignity and love. Thank you all.
Thank you so much for your kind and heartfelt words. It truly means a great deal to all of us to hear about your Mum's experience at Torkington House. It was an absolute privilege on our part to care for your Mum and to be part of her life. We're so glad that she found happiness, comfort, and...
The key things I have really appreciated in recent months about the care and overall support include really thinking through our father's best interests following a series of difficult falls, and how best to support both him and us, as next of kin, in planning his future care. There is a very attentive and very proactive management team, liaising closely with us as relatives, and with the wider network of allied health professionals, registered nurses, local GP's, and other professionals who need to be looped into/coordinate our father's care. Thank you.
We do understand that the recent months have involved some important and sometimes difficult decisions, and we're so pleased you've felt supported throughout. Your father's wellbeing, dignity and safety...
Torkington House is a wonderful place! My mum is receiving the best care which is always given consistently and professionally. She is looked after with kindness and dignity and is very happy and settled. Her needs are met in every aspect. Torkington House have very high standards and a team of truly dedicated staff who are managed by Margaret. She has an amazing team and ensures that the residents' individual needs are met on a daily basis. Margaret is always available if I need advice, help or even a chat, this is something that is very much appreciated. I am always made to feel welcome when I come to visit. I have great peace of mind knowing that mum is so well looked after. Thank you so much, Margaret, to you and your team!
Your lovely comments about the home manager and the team will be shared with everyone.

The staff are kind, skilled, and work seamlessly as a team, always putting residents first. Mum is wonderfully cared for and never left alone. Her medical needs are fully met, she is well presented and benefits from excellent, freshly cooked nutritional meals. The availability of Catholic Mass is much appreciated.
Communication with families is excellent, and there are many engaging activities and events. Christmas can be hard for families but at Torkington it was made really special, with a lovely atmosphere that welcomed all visiting relatives.
Mum has been here nearly three years, and I have no regrets-Torkington House feels like a caring family while remaining thoroughly professional.
It is rewarding to know that your mum feels safe, well cared for, and supported in all aspects of her daily life, from her medical needs and nutrition to social activities and...

My personal experience with my father being there for over two years has been excellent and I am grateful that my father gets such exceptional care at Torkington. The management are all amazing and it is run so so well by Margaret who is the manager and she is always happy to help with any adjustments or when we need advise about my father. She has always been so supportive and all her team of care staff are exemplary. They arrange activities and outings for residents and are always welcoming when I visit. I am ease that my father is in a safe and secure and well looked after environment at Torkington House and I couldn't be happier with his care.
Thank you very much for your wonderful and detailed feedback. We are truly grateful that you took the time to share your experience. Knowing that you feel your father is safe, secure, and well looked after is a real reassurance and a reward for the hard work and dedication of our staff. Your kind...
That was 3 years ago, and I have absolutely no regrets. Mum, after a bit of settling in time, has thrived. She is relaxed and happy and quickly put on weight (which she needed). The staff are lovely, kind and respectful to the residents. There is a very low turnover of staff, which means they all know her well. They quickly spot if she is not her usual self and seek medical advice where necessary. She's 99 now, and I think that is down to the wonderful care she receives at Torkington House.
There's a lovely homely feel, and staff are always welcoming. Marie who manages the activities does a brilliant job. Mum has thoroughly enjoyed activities and trips out. I can relax knowing that she is happy, safe and very well looked after.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a thoughtful and heartfelt review. Being able to support your mum as she approaches her 100th year is a real privilege for us. Thank you for trusting us with her care and for sharing your experience. To know that families feel reassured and at...
My 1st time used respite care, I really like the care plan arrange. I would recommend anyone who is thinking of using respite care package, you should do it, because it gave you the opportunity to rest a bit from looking after your love one for a long time. You still can visit your love one at the care home at anytime. I would do it again, if I need a break.
Looked after my late mother for 15 Months, in time my had dementia and was slowly declining. The team looked after my Mum 24/7.
It was nice when I closed the door I knew she was safe and well cared for. They dressed here and kept her appearance and hair just as she went into home a very smart Lady.
Above the care for my mother , they were also looking after me, Teas coffee biscuits and the odd cheeky bowl of chips.
Garden parties, trips to park and theatre whereAll part of months plan, which you received by email every weekly.
Most of all, the care team where kind gentleAnd always there to help, you couldn't ask for much more.
My final email to the management at Torkington says it all -
Dear Manager,Thanks for your condolences. However, I particularly wanted to drop you a personal note to express my thanks and gratitude for the care that you and your Team have given my wife over the past five years. There are many care homes to choose from but we were fortunate to find Torkington. The standard of care my wife received has been exemplary and the staff have shown themselves to be compassionate and genuinely concerned for the welfare of the residents in their charge. Hard though it has been to be separated from my wife these past years she could not have been in better hands.
Lastly, I have to say a special thanks to all the staff who cared for my wife (and me!) last week. Their support made my wife's last days as easy as possible and I was touched by their genuine affection for my wife.
Thanks again and my best wishes to you and your staff.
Best,
Thank you so much for your heartfelt message as it means a lot to all of us here at Torkington. We will share this to the whole team. We are truly honoured to have had the opportunity to care for your wife over the past five years and it is rewarding to hear that our efforts brought you comfort...
I have witnessed such a marked improvement in my mother's overall wellbeing since being at Torkinton.
Thank you so much for your message and we appreciate you taking the time to share this - it really means a lot to all of us here. We are happy to see that there is a continues improvement in your mum's overall wellbeing since she's been with us. At the start there was a bit of uncertainty whether...
My mother stayed at Torkington House for a fortnight while work was being done on her house. Although her Alzheimer's meant she herself has no recollection of her time there, my brother and I were very happy with how content she seemed when we visited and when she came home. We were free to visit at any time and the staff were always welcoming. They were cheerful and friendly but also clearly take their work very seriously and professionally. We will certainly use Torkington House again if/when the occasion arises.
Thank you so much for your message. It really does mean a lot to us. We know that it was not an easy decision but we are so pleased to hear that your mum seemed content while she was here, and that you and your brother felt welcome when you visited. The team always tries to make Torkington House a...
My mother has stayed twice so far for respite care. The staff have been lovely; welcoming, supportive and interested in her and us. She was well cared for, and whenever I visited or other friends visited we were also welcomed. There seems to be a core staff team who are permanent staff (not agency), which is a real strength I think. The bedrooms are en-suite and peaceful, there is a lovely spacious dining room looking over the garden, and the garden is a real gem: my mother liked sitting out there with us.
Thank you so much for taking time to leave us a review and for sharing your experience with us. We continuously aim to have permanent staff to ensure that a holistic high standard of care will be provided to the residents. Hopefully, you and your mum can join us in one of our future events like...
My mum spent one month at Torkington House. From the moment she arrived to when she left, she was taken care of impeccably. The staff was extremely friendly and dealt with Mum's initial anxiety of being somewhere unfamiliar with empathy and professionalism. Whenever I called to get an update of how Mum was doing, the team were always willing to update me. The day I came to pick Mum up to take her back home, she was smiling and happy to introduce me to all the other residents she met during her stay.
Thank you for taking time in completing a review for Torkington House team. We appreciate your kind words which will be shared within the team. We are delighted that she enjoys her short stay at Torkington House. Your support through constant phone calls especially during the first few days of her...
He has been happy and cared for tirelessly by care staff that really care and look after his every need.
The entire team run a happy home professionally and lovingly that I have total faith in, not once have I seen anyone act inappropriately or carelessly towards residents, guests and each other.
I cannot fault Torkington House and have recommended it to others.
The staff was informed that he is able to walk about 20 feet very slowly using the frame. But he was kept in the wheelchair all of the time, with no walking done at all except from bed to the toilet and back. As a result, he was very unsteady on his feet when he returned.
When he did not have his meals regularly no nutritional drinks were given, he was feeling very tired and weak by the end of the week.
When he returned home it looked like he had not been shaved for at least two days.
The syringe used for his medication was missing from the pack. An old syringe was provided later which did not look clean at all.
The invoice sent was not for the agreed number of days. Amended one sent later with names misspelt.
The most serious was his DNR report was not with him when he returned home. It had to be collected later.
This is not the kind of care we were promised.
Always confident that he was well looked after for his respite care.
My father was also happy and enjoyed the food and liked the environment.
Dear Richard, thank you for taking time in completing the review for the care your father has received from Torkington House team during his respite stay. Although it was a very short stay and might not be enough time to know him very well, the whole team did their best to meet his care needs...
about leaving there. She loved singing and kept the other residents entertained. We are hoping that they can accommodate her again next month when we need further respite care for a few weeks.
Dear Beverley, thanks very much for your lovely review. It is so important for us to receive such positive feedback. I will share your feedback with the entire team at Torkington House. Kind regards.
My aunt has been at Torkington House for the last 4yrs, the staff are amazing, always very approachable, she always says that the staff are very nice, she is happy and looked after extremely well, what we want for our loved ones is to be looked after and cared for well and Torkington House goes beyond all that.
Dear Jackie, many thanks for your amazing review. We are so pleased to know that you and your aunt are happy with the care we are providing. I shall pass your review to all our team and they will be delighted. Many thanks.
Most of all, the staff were lovely and friendly and the lead staff and manager were very approachable at any time. They also kept us informed regularly when required. We would recommend Torkington Carehome, as it is a good space for loved ones to be cared for. Oh! That garden is so beautiful to sit in when visiting! Thank you, Torkington House!
Dear Laila, we are pleased to hear that you would recommend Torkington House to anyone for their loved ones. You are a very supportive family. It is sad that we could not look after her as her care needs had changed. We will share your feedback with all our team and they would be very happy to hear this and would appreciate it. Regards.
