The accommodation is excellent, clean and warm with a very modern en-suite bathroom. Now that summer is fast approaching the garden is so very inviting ideal for exercise and enjoying the fresh air.
Every day there is an entertainment programme. The catering is of a very high standard with varied menus.
On the few occasions that my mother has required minor medical treatment the response has been rapid, far quicker than if she has been in her own home. As for security second to none, it is so good to know that she is safe and sound at all times. Thank you Torkington House.
There is always something going on to keep the residents occupied and now that summer is approaching the garden is going to be so inviting. The catering is of a very high standard, the menus are very appetising. A few times she has needed minor medical treatment and this was attended straight away, far quicker than if she had been in her own home. It is so comforting to know that she is in such safe and secure surroundings. Well done Torkington House.
The home continues to provide excellent care for my mother. The staff are attuned to her individual needs. The home is always welcoming to family and friends visiting. There is always plenty to do for the residents and yet it is homely and relaxed too. My mother feels secure and happy there and likes to share a laugh and a joke with the staff.
I am highly impressed every time I visit my friend. The staff are simply outstanding, cheerful, patient, professional and truly caring and the food is plentiful and exceptionally good.
From the moment I first spoke to Torkington House, I was put totally at ease. The response to my brother's needs was immediate, thoughtful and caring. A staff member came out to the hospital the afternoon I had inspected the home in the morning, to discuss directly with my brother his needs. For the 2 weeks my brother was in for convalescent care after injuries sustained in a road accident, the staff were brilliant in their support for him and for taking care of the follow-up appointments for hospital and surgery.
My mum moved into Torkington House Care Home in July 2018. Before this, she had been attending Torkington as a day resident about once a week. This was an excellent service - not only for mum, but her family bringing and collecting her were made to feel so welcome. Mum started to get a feel for the place and always looked forward to her visit and was clearly happy at the end of each visit. From this, she started to really want to move in there. This in itself, speaks volumes for the homely feel and welcoming atmosphere. All the family and mum were absolutely delighted when a place became available. It was without question the best care home we visited. Now, mum has lived there for 3 months I can continue to vouch for the warmth and care provided. The staff provide care to the residents with warmth and respect. The style of the building and rooms in it make it feel very homely. The gardens are beautiful and so accessible and the residents are fully encouraged to use it. This is an excellent home.
My mother has severe dementia. Her needs are met with empathy. The home is a welcoming place for both visitors and relatives. It is clean, beautiful gardens, has many activities for everyone to join in. The staff are friendly and although always busy, efficient and kind.
The manager and staff at Torkington House are what make it such an excellent home. The care, support and warmth that they show residents and their families is truly second to none. I have long thought that Torkington House deserves greater recognition for the wonderful work that it does. I was delighted to see that the manager won an award for Manager of the Year in 2018.
My Mum has been a resident at Torkington house for around five months. We feel extremely lucky that a vacancy came up when my Mum's dementia and Parkinson's led to her being told she needed 24-hour care. The home is very peaceful, very well run and run by caring, well trained and happy staff. There is a real sense of community of a safe place and it being Mum's home. Mum likes the chef and the food and loves the gardens ad her room. We would recommend the home to anyone.
This is a happy, caring home where all the staff are ready to speak to you and all willing and full of expertise.
Thank you very much for your review. The management and staff are very pleased to have received such positive feedback. Your kind comments will boost staff morale and will encourage staff to continually maintain and deliver a high standard of care.
I can't thank the staff and management enough for all their kind care towards my dear wife, with love and appreciation. Perfect home. Very content.
My mum has been a resident at Torkington House since January 2014. She now has acute dementia and is unable to do anything for herself, relying entirely on staff to clothe, wash and feed her. My sister and/or I visit my mum every week, at different times, and we are very happy with the care and attention which my mum receives, and the kindness with which it is provided. The manager of the care home leads very much by example, and the home itself is clean and comfortable. Perhaps unusually in the sector, it does not smell of urine - a vital criterion for us choosing Torkington in the first place! The management have been fully supportive throughout my mum’s stay in making sure that she receives appropriate medical and other attention, and as a result, my mum now has a super comfortable wheelchair which enables her to sit out during the day, rather than be confined to her bed. Crucially, Greensleeves, who runs the home, is a charity so any surplus is invested back into their homes.
My sister was well looked after with love and care by all the staff. Residents friends and family are all made welcome at any time - you can join your relative for meals if you wish and the food is superb.
The garden is lovely and sitting out in the summer is very pleasant.
Our family were confident she was in safe hands and if you need a care home for your relative look no further.
This is a very pleasant care home. Residents feel it is their home and are well looked after. There is a lovely garden.
The staff at Torkington look after the residents extremely well and promote a homely atmosphere. The residents’ individuality is considered and the staff are very approachable.
The staff at Torkington House are warm and caring and understand the value of laughter in life. It has a wonderful garden full of flowers which residents are encouraged to use whenever possible. I am welcome to visit at any time, with no fixed hours for visiting. The only thing I would like to see is a few more exercise options available. Overall, my mother is very happy here and I am glad we made this choice.
The management and staff are caring, friendly, patient, helpful and conscientious. They are on the ball as regards my mum’s medical needs and appointments and all aspects of her care. They are supportive to residents and their family members. The care home is quite small and there is a low turnover of staff so residents know the staff well and vice versa. There are lots of activities offered to residents. The manager and her senior team are friendly, approachable, informative and extremely competent.
My sister and I came to view the home around 5 months ago and loved it! Our father has been going there regularly and he is happy again. I would not hesitate in recommending this home to others.
My mother has been at Torkington House for 16 months. The care has always been of the highest quality and in the last six months improvements throughout the home have been made. I am always welcomed day or night. The staff are friendly and efficient. Any issues have been dealt with promptly and with empathy. My mother has Alzheimer's and I visit at least twice a week. She is happy and well cared for. This is an amazing home.
Good variety of food on the menu.
Extra touches done around the home, special days, St Patrick's day, St Davids Day, Easter, Christmas and residents birthdays when special cakes are made.
These little touches go along way. I am a regular visitor to the home to visit my father and I notice this. 100%
