The Review Score of 6.3 (maximum of 10) for Lansglade House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.
a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 2 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Lansglade House in Google's Search Results - more info
b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 1.6 out of 5 from 1 positive Reviews in the last 2 years. (A 2 year period has been used as there were no positive reviews in the last 12 months)
a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.
The Average Rating of 4.739 for Lansglade House is calculated as follows: ( (17 Excellents x 5) + (6 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 23 Ratings = 4.739
b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'
The 5 points available are broken down as follows:
4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.
1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.
If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.
The 1.581 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Lansglade House is based on 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as follows:
3 = 3 then divided by 2 = 1.500
Target of 6.2 positive Reviews (31 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 1 Reviews ÷ 6.2 Target = 0.161 , then divided by 2 = 0.081

Review submitted from a Postal Card by Barry W (Son of Resident) on Monday 21 November 2016. Relates to October 2016.
My Mother has been a resident for almost two years now and she has been provided with excellent care and attention throughout. If she has had any medical needs, these have been attended to right away. The food and drink provision is very good with meals/food that the residents want and seemingly unlimited cups of tea for residents and visitors alike. The staff interact with the residents and treat all with respect and dignity.

Review submitted from a Website Submission by Patricia H (Daughter of Resident) on Saturday 14 November 2015. Relates to September 2015.
My widowed father, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's four years ago at age 85, lived at Lansglade House from December 2013 to September 2015. I had Lasting P.O.A. for my father but as I live in Canada I could not visit my father frequently. The visits I made were therefore week long and involved many hours spent at the Home. During these visits I was impressed by the dedication of the care staff and by the way my father's dignity (and that of other residents) was respected at all times. Food was varied and lovingly prepared with plenty of choices and I noticed that menus were individualised to suit the tastes and needs of residents. There was daily entertainment and activities for residents who wished to join in.
All the staff made me feel welcome and at home and showed concern not only for my father but also for me. In his last weeks my father never left his bed and was cared for by frequent checks and visits by carers to change his position, wash him, give him food etc. They always took time to encourage my father to eat and spoke gently and kindly to him.
The very efficient and friendly manager kept regular contact with me by email and also by phone when necessary. She informed me immediately of changes in health and of doctors' visits. She kept me up to date on activities at the home and listened and responded promptly to all my concerns. I noticed that, except for when she was conducting meetings which demanded privacy, her door was always open.
My father's room was kept impeccably clean and was very comfortably furnished. Although he did not have his own bathroom, this did not seem to present a problem to either him or the care staff. A bed alarm was installed to alert staff whenever my father left his bed (when he still was able) to ensure his safety.
Although the dining room is not really big enough to seat all residents at once, as some residents preferred to remain in their armchairs for meals this seemed to work out fine. Breakfast was served to individual residents as and when they were ready for it and I was told that a few liked to have breakfast served to them in their rooms before they came down for the day. I liked the fact that it was the residents who determined their own routines for getting up and going to bed."This is your father's home", I was told when he first arrived at Lansglade House. I am truly grateful to each and every member of staff that they really lived up to this and provided such a caring environment for my father.
