My aunt has been at Cleeve Lodge for over 3 years. She is happy and healthy, and is very well cared for by a lovely team led by the wonderful manager. We are always welcomed warmly and given a hot drink and tasty cake. They also take an interest in the whole family. As we live up to 5 hours drive away, we are kept up to date with emails and photos. We also know that we will be notified, and a doctor called, if she has any health concerns. It is very reassuring to know that she is being looked after 24/7. The worry has been taken away from us. There are interesting activities, events and outings organised, which my aunt is encouraged to participate in, with help from the carers and volunteers, when she feels like it, but there is no pressure to take part. The whole team encourage her to chat, which she really enjoys. She also loves her food and eats well. Her personal care has increased naturally,as her dementia has progressed, but it is carried out with great care and respect.
Thank you so much for your wonderful review and for placing your trust in Cleeve Lodge over the past three years. Your kind words mean so much to our entire team.

My mum originated from Scotland and her father was with the Black Watch which is the Kilt that the piper had on.
So was quite emotional for me to see but was a wonderful hour for me visiting and the residents to experience. My parents have been in the home nearly 3 years and I love the fact that the home celebrates every event/holiday within a year.
Were honoured that the moment resonated so deeply, particularly given your mums Scottish roots and your...

I cannot find words that fully describe the excellence of the care that Mum receives.
Kind.
Compassionate.
Person centred.
Flexible.
Supportive to me personally.
I find the staff friendly and I am always greeted with genuine warmth (& a lovely cuppa with homemade cake if I arrive around 3!)
Mum's dementia journey hasn't been straight forward. Mum's stay has been peppered with a few fractures with long periods in plaster. Staff at Cleeve Lodge were so supportive in getting Mum out of hospital quickly so as to reduce Mum's confusion and trauma.
Communication with me is open, clear and kind.
Mum loves her food. Food is homemade and staff are flexible- if Mum wants another breakfast, that is fine.
There are plenty of social events and activities. The local community and families are encouraged to participate.
Overall- outstanding.

Lovely staff, nice place, good food, caring. Nice gardens. Good events. Lovely village location. Know how to celebrate birthdays etc. feel safe. Decent processes.
Cleeve Lodge is an example of how all care homes should be. When my mother arrived there, she was quite ill and also suffering from an element of depression. Her improvement over the months has been dramatic. Whilst some of this can be accounted for by medication, a large part is clearly the way she is treated at the Lodge. From my observations, and I have been there for many hours, the staff are attentive, considerate and patient. I have seen no signs of frustration in the staff, only kindness. This is very impressive. Beyond this, residents are encouraged to take part in a variety of activities, and my mother has been happily getting involved in things should would never have tried by herself at home. She is also encouraged to attend external events in the village, safely accompanied by a staff member or family/friend. Visitors are made very welcome at any time and I feel 'at home' there. From personal experience, I can say that lunch (the main meal of the day) is particularly good.
Mum has been in cleeve lodge since the beginning of the year, and I can't fault her care there, the staff are kind and compassionate and all do an amazing job. I'm regularly kept informed of events going on and although mum doesn't like to join in much, there is always something going on, from garden parties to craft making. I can finally relax knowing that she is being well taken care of.
Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful review. We are delighted to hear that your mum has settled well at Cleeve Lodge and that you feel confident and reassured about the care she receives. Our team work very hard to ensure every resident is treated with kindness, compassion and respect,...
My MIL has dementia and sadly lost her husband in March and her quality of life seemed to turn to more quantity of life before we loved her to Cleeve Lodge.
Now she enjoys the things that she always did as much as she can from all of the activities provided and trips to the village, life is a new normal for her.
She has regained her dignity and the care from staff seems as though they treat each resident as their own family member. We don't live too close but knew it was the right place for her and although we cant visit as often as we would like to, the staff keep us so involved that we also feel as loved as her.
The staff are seriously wonderful and genuinely want to be doing the job that they are doing. It seems it is a privilege to them to aid my MIL and the residents to live out their golden years and dignified and as enriched as they deserve to and should!
Our team work very hard to provide compassionate, person-centred care, and your comments about their kindness and...

From management downwards the staff are very professional and take a real interest in the welfare of all the residence. Top marks without question. Thank you Cleeve Lodge for everything you do.

Meet the Team (1)

Emma O’Connor brings almost 40 years of experience in adult social care to her role as Registered Manager of Cleeve Lodge.
Emma believes that excellent care begins with knowing the person. She takes time to learn about each resident’s life, personality, routines, interests, likes and dislikes, as well as the family members and friends who remain important to them.
Her approach is deeply personal and hands-on. Emma is highly visible throughout the home, knows residents and families personally and works closely with the team to ensure that care remains compassionate, respectful and responsive as residents’ needs change.
Emma also personally handles enquiries and tours for prospective residents and their families. She understands how difficult the decision to seek residential care can be and aims to make the process as open, supportive and reassuring as possible.
In May 2026, Emma won the Leadership Award at the Oxfordshire Care Awards, organised by the Oxfordshire Association of Care Providers. The award recognised her leadership and contribution to adult social care.
