My Mother has just passed away at St Lukes. I have never ever experienced anything so unprofessional before I had a phone call from a lovely doctor who was looking after my Mum (not care home staff at the home) we as a family had decided for her to get the treatment in the home rather than the hospital.
After my phone call from the doctor, it was only two hours then she passed away with family by her side. Within 30 mins of my mum's passing two members of staff not following any whatsoever protocol were badgering my family for a name of undertakers to come and collect the body.
Not once did they offer any kind of condolence or try and help in any way, even sitting down using their mobile phone while my family was grieving.
I had to find a funeral home to come and get my mum, obviously trying to find someone was not that easy with everything that's happened.

So today, the day after I had not one person call me from the home to ask if there was anything they could do to help.

This review, of course, is seen by myself and experienced by my wife. By that, I see how she reacts to her stay. She is happy and relaxed, in as much as she can be with dementia. These periods at St Lukes are of short duration, periodically once a year, and when she returned, she is welcomed and remembered, which is important to her and myself because of trust. If things were to go awry, I know the manager would sort it.

In general, the whole ambience of the facility is excellent. The staff are absolutely brilliant. I do not know what I would do without them. It would be heartbreaking for me if she was to leave St Lukes.

My wife suffered from Alzheimer's disease. I love her dearly, and for more than seven years, I cared for her to the best of my ability. However, recently I sustained a fractured pelvis and damaged vertebrae which made that no longer possible. Since then, she has been cared for by St Lukes with dignity and attention beyond my dreams. She is very happy there and regards the staff more as friends than helpers. My only regret is that I did not arrange her move there much earlier.

My mum was looked after for eight months in the wonderful St Luke's.
Mum was extremely happy and settled with the lovely, friendly and homely atmosphere.

All, staff are lovely, dedicated and hardworking from administration, carer's and nurses, a very big thank you for looking after my mum so well; your kindness is so appreciated.

My mum now needs a nursing home, so it is with great sadness, she has to be moved, hoping that she will be looked after as well as your home.

I would certainly recommend this care home.

My sisters and I can only praise the care and genuine kindness displayed by the staff at St Luke's throughout our mother's two years as a resident. When she finally became seriously ill, and it was agreed, after consultation with us and her GP, that her care plan should be changed to 'end of life care', nobody could have done more to make this difficult time easier for Mum and all of us. It was a particularly complex situation due to Covid restrictions, but we were kept informed throughout and, as we all live some distance from the home, we were forewarned in plenty of time when her condition worsened so that we could be with her in her last days. We can't thank St Luke's enough for looking after our Mum and providing a place where she felt safe and free of worry. She loved looking at the trees and the garden out of her window, and we had many telephone conversation about flowers or autumn leaves. This comes with a big 'thank you' to everyone from the kitchen to the senior staff.

The home has taken every step possible to keep our loved ones safe during this pandemic. I have weekly Skype calls with my mum which are priceless. She is so happy there and the staff are second to none. Definitely the best and safest place my mum could have ever been in. I would never hesitate to recommend this home for a loved one. I live in Spain and haven't been able to visit since last March due to travel restrictions but because Mum is so well looked after she is very content which is a great weight off my shoulders.

Care is excellent. My only reservation concerns the food, which I felt was satisfactory, but perhaps more could be done to cater for my sister's, admittedly difficult, preferences. I realise that an institution cannot provide different menus for all the residents but perhaps her favourite (baked potatoes) could have been provided more often.

She was at St Lukes for just a year. She was safe and looked after so well. She had company and she had care. The staff were lovely, both towards her and to us. Nothing was too much bother for them. I have nothing but admiration for everyone who works at St Lukes and during the dark months of the worst of the pandemic, they upped their game even more.

My mum moved into St Lukes recently and is suffering from Alzheimer's. The transition into this care home was made a lot easier than we expected by the helpful and caring staff and mum seems to have settled in well.
Each time we visit, we are made to feel welcome and the staff always make a point of chatting to us and updating on what mums been up to. Mums room appears clean and tidy which in the past has been a challenge with her.
We attended a relatives forum meeting this week and that was great to speak to other relatives with similar stories to ours and know we are not alone and not the only ones.

Thank you for helping us at this difficult time for the family.

My father has been a resident in St Lukes care home for a year now, he had a major move from Scotland which was very distressing for him but he is really happy now and never has any complaints about the staff. The staff and management have taken the time to get to know dad and his likes/dislikes. If I ever have any concerns they are on hand to discuss and deal with anything promptly.

I attended a dementia training session in Feb 2019 for family members, the training was given by three senior members of staff. They taught us about the different types of dementia and related symptoms and how we should react or not react to situations. I was so touched by the level of care and work the team puts into ensuring all of the residents, very different, needs are met, it made me feel reassured that dad was in a safe caring environment.

St Lukes and The Oaks provides a calm, caring and often loving home for our elderly, frail and sometimes confused family members. The facilities are good but what really impresses are the staff members who show endless care, compassion and patience to those residents in their care as well as their visitors. Their dedication to the safety, comfort and wellbeing of their sometimes challenging residents, is outstanding.
