At Caton House the team, many of whom have been with the home for over a decade, are passionate about enriching the lives of their residents. They provide an exceptionally high standard of care and create so many wonderful activities and experiences for their residents.

Providing residential, dementia, nursing, palliative care, the team also provide respite care breaks which can be booked in advance, ideal for carers who would like to plan a short break themselves. There is also a day centre (£27.47 for a half day/£54.94 for a full day).

The home has its own choir, with the residents pulling out all the stops for big occasions like Christmas. And musicians, singers and dancers from the local community often come and perform for the residents.

There are so many animal visits, including regular therapy dog whom the residents adore. There are also gentle exercise sessions, a knitting club, baking, games and quizzes galore.

The community are embraced into life at Caton House, from volunteers who join in with activities and spend time chatting with the residents, to local school children who treat them to sneak previews of special performances, and a local church group who do a monthly service in the home.

Every week a mobile hairdresser visits for appointments in the home’s salon, and there are regular pamper sessions, with manicures. Every week there is a sensory afternoon, with relaxing music, mood lighting and activities to stimulate the senses like hand massages.

This summer the residents have loved growing their own produce in the home’s enclosed gardens, from carrots and tomatoes to peppers and herbs. And they have proudly harvested the produce for the chef to use in the kitchen, which has given them such a sense of achievement.

In the dining room, residents enjoy delicious home-cooked cuisine, from roast dinners with all the trimmings, fish and chip Fridays and home-baking.

Our weekly fees are individual to each of our residents and are subject to a pre-admission assessment, which is required to understand the level of care and support needed. Our 2025 weekly care fees for residential care start from £1492 and for nursing care £1776, but may be in the region of 30% more*. This depends on your care needs and the type of bedroom that is right for you, from our standard rooms through to our premium bedroom options.

Staff very helpful and caring. Nothing seems to be too much trouble.
Mum recently moved from residential to nursing floor and the whole team there were very welcoming and helpful.

My mother has recently lost some of her mobility and it would seem she is not receiving the same level of care and support as previously. I am also finding it more difficult and more expensive to actually pay for her private costs, I used to get a monthly invoice and just call with her credit card details.
Because I have a medically diagnosed tremor I cannot key these details in via mobile phone keypad so I now have to post a cheque which entails a trip to my bank to transfer money and the cost of postage, all at extra expense to myself. This has been explained to yourselves, but nothing has been done about it?

Family activities are well organised. Lovely to spend time with other families at the BBQ. Wonderful can visit any time of the day/night.
Most of the staff are amazing and very kind.
Shame when short-staffed, but happens everywhere!

Mum has enjoyed very good care since arriving in September 2022. For the first three months, she was able to join in with activities and was encouraged to do so. Since breaking her wrist and a subsequent decline in her health, Mum has been bedridden (December 22). She gets good care from all staff and
excellent from certain members of staff. Refering for treatment can be a slow process, but I feel that this is the surgery/NHS and not within the care home itself. Thanks.

I thoroughly enjoyed my respite stay at Caton House. To be honest, I cannot fault it - it was perfect! All members of staff gave excellent service, above and beyond the call of duty. They made me feel special and safe. Everyone was kind and professional, always acting as if nothing was too much trouble.
It gave my daughter and her family a proper break from the responsibility of caring for me 24/7. She knew I was being looked after in a safe, controlled and caring environment. I was happy knowing she was having a break. I soon settled in my lovely room. It was everything I could ask for, especially with a large window looking onto a little garden with a bird feeder and bird bath. The food was outstanding! I looked forward to every meal and enjoyed dining with other residents. Each day I was encouraged to partake in activities which were led by kind, fun and caring staff. In my opinion, it was money well spent and I am very much looking forward to going again in a few weeks time.

My mum was only in the care home for 3 nights before she passed away, the nurses were great I could talk with them about my mum they would listen and advise, the chef went out of their way to try and encourage my mum to eat. My mum wasn’t happy that the food wasn’t always piping hot as she was used
to at home but things were listened to and tried to change, the home was clean. The bad part received a call from my mum during the night on the 2nd night she was in, wanting help to get to the toilet, whoever had helped her to bed hadn’t moved the buzzer so it was reachable for her. She was quite distressed. I spoke with the nurses and was assured it wouldn’t happen again. The only other problem was having to organise things like the toilet frame as there was only one helping rail at the toilet not one on either side. Overall my mum was in a small room, it wasn’t the easiest for her to move around in with her frame.

My mum has been at Caton House Residential and Nursing Home for one year and has settled in very well. She is visually impaired and has dementia so has very complex needs and at times, a challenging behaviour. The staff are doing a wonderful job caring for my mum, she is always clean, dressed and her
room is clean and tidy. It has taken a load off my mind knowing that she is safe. The staff are approachable dealing with any requests as needed and keep me informed and involved. They are friendly towards relatives and reception is very welcoming. The home is nicely decorated and well-maintained. The food is good, the chefs freshly prepare the food and know what my mum likes eating. They bake delicious cakes for afternoon tea. The entertainment team provide daily activities which are available for residents to join in if they wish. My mum occasionally does and will enjoy it.
Overall, I can highly recommend Caton House. The wonderful staff give love and care to the residents as if they are family.

The overall care given at Caton House is good with friendly and helpful staff, carers and nurses. My father has mobility and mental issues, he is completely reliant on the help and support of others, which is given at Caton House.
Obviously, care in a care home is not like being in your own home with
one-to-one attention, but my mother visits every day keeping an eye on him, making sure he is being looked after and feeling loved.
If I have made requests (e.g. personal hygiene, oral or other, room maintenance etc.), they are always dealt with positively and everyone is willing to help. Caton House has just had some re-decoration and new furniture which has brightened up the corridors and living room.

Whenever I vist my dad I always speak to the nurses first to see if anyone anything medically has changed for my dad. They are all very knowledgeable and friendly. My dad spent the last year of his life at Caton House.
The care provided to him was outstanding. Staff genuinely care for the residents and seem to enjoy working there. My dad would frequently mention how kind everyone was.
Having spent time with my dad (and time while he was asleep), and observing
how staff interacted with other residents, I was impressed with the professional but kind and personal approach given to each resident. Caton House gave peace of mind to my family in my dad's final year, knowing that he was being taken care of, and cared for, by such a lovely team of people.

Dad joined Caton House this month. Everybody has been very welcoming. Staff are caring and attentive. The manager is extremely professional, exceptionally helpful and always has a smile for you. Dad's room is light and airy and very clean.
Staff are amazing- everybody.
I know Dad is in great hands.

I find the service user is well looked after. The service user is given choices and communication is delivered within the user's mental capabilities.

My husband is very well looked after by really lovely, friendly staff. My dad lived a completely independent life until he had a stroke in November. He was then in hospital until January 2023. He arrived at Caton House Residential and Nursing Home on January 16th. He is upstairs in the nursing section of the house.
Dad cannot eat, he is fed by a PEG. But he has water
and an occasional yoghurt for pleasure, which was all approved by a hospital’s nutritionist first.
It was all quite a shock for Dad and us for him to suddenly be in a home.
It took Dad a few weeks to get used to being there but with the help and kindness of the staff he is now settled in and feeling much safer. The staff are friendly and patient. I have asked Dad and he has said they are lovely to him.
There are activities most days which they help Dad to join in with.
No one wants to end up in a home but this seems like a good one.

The care my dad receives at Caton House Residential and Nursing Home is exemplary. Every member of staff knows him personally, calls him by his name and treats him with respect.
Staff are interested in his whole life and who he was, not just the elderly resident he is now.
Staff work in partnership
with our family to ensure a joined-up personal approach to Dad’s daily care needs.
The care home manager always makes time to listen to our family and responds quickly to any queries.
I would highly recommend Caton House and the quality of care they provide.

The staff at Caton House are friendly, helpful and kind to my mother who is 93 and totally bedridden. They are open to observations and quirks of her behaviour, particularly when it comes to strange things she won't eat.
Her clothes are well looked after and efficiently washed and returned and the
food seems to be very good when I see the menu and trolley go past!

As a care assistant, my role is to look after our residents, in all aspects of their care.


I love everything about my role, especially looking after our lovely residents.

Job Title: Activities co-ordinator Joined: 2009

My main responsibilities are to create a relaxed, safe and happy environment for our residents to enjoy a full range of activities; either in large groups, small groups or on a 1-1 basis.


We do lots of singing and have regular entertainment, visitors from local schools join us, and we play bingo, and do arts and crafts, yoga, darts and hoopla to name a few!
We also celebrate our residents' birthdays, throwing big or small parties (whatever they prefer) for their families and friends to enjoy with them in the comfort of their homes.
I love helping our residents to enjoy their time here as much as they can and also to provide comfort when they need it.

Denise Hodges

Job Title: Domestic Supervisor Joined: 1997

My main role at Caton House is to support and lead my team to make sure that the residents' home is clean and comfortable to live in. I enjoy the time I spend with our residents - especially getting to know them!
I also love seeing my team grow and progress within their roles.
