At Caton House the team, many of whom have been with the home for over a decade, are passionate about enriching the lives of their residents. They provide an exceptionally high standard of care and create so many wonderful activities and experiences for their residents.

Providing residential, dementia, nursing, palliative care, the team also provide respite care breaks which can be booked in advance, ideal for carers who would like to plan a short break themselves. There is also a day centre (£27.47 for a half day/£54.94 for a full day).

The home has its own choir, with the residents pulling out all the stops for big occasions like Christmas. And musicians, singers and dancers from the local community often come and perform for the residents.

There are so many animal visits, including regular therapy dog whom the residents adore. There are also gentle exercise sessions, a knitting club, baking, games and quizzes galore.

The community are embraced into life at Caton House, from volunteers who join in with activities and spend time chatting with the residents, to local school children who treat them to sneak previews of special performances, and a local church group who do a monthly service in the home.

Every week a mobile hairdresser visits for appointments in the home’s salon, and there are regular pamper sessions, with manicures. Every week there is a sensory afternoon, with relaxing music, mood lighting and activities to stimulate the senses like hand massages.

This summer the residents have loved growing their own produce in the home’s enclosed gardens, from carrots and tomatoes to peppers and herbs. And they have proudly harvested the produce for the chef to use in the kitchen, which has given them such a sense of achievement.

In the dining room, residents enjoy delicious home-cooked cuisine, from roast dinners with all the trimmings, fish and chip Fridays and home-baking.

Our weekly fees are individual to each of our residents and are subject to a pre-admission assessment, which is required to understand the level of care and support needed. Our 2025 weekly care fees for residential care start from £1492 and for nursing care £1776, but may be in the region of 30% more*. This depends on your care needs and the type of bedroom that is right for you, from our standard rooms through to our premium bedroom options.

Since Mum had been a resident she has never looked better! She is 99 in February 2023 and she enjoys and joins in every activity, from chair exercises, flower arranging, singing, or making biscuits. The care she receives really is amazing!

My experience of Caton House Residential and Nursing Home has been overwhelmingly positive. When I visit, I am greeted in a friendly manner, by every member of staff I come across. The nursing and care staff have been brilliant with my mother-in-law, who has some very challenging behaviours. I find
communicating with the home very easy: they're extremely responsive to emails and phone calls and very reassuring at all times. We are kept informed of any issues immediately. Although my mother-in-law doesn't take part in activities. I have the greatest respect for the activities team, who I have seen in action, and who are wonderfully empathetic and do their very best to engage all residents at all levels.

I have always found all of the staff to be caring and responsive and believe his nursing care is of a good standard. The atmosphere of the home is calm and homely, so I highly recommend it to any relative looking for a placement for their loved one.

It is difficult for me to give an honest assessment of the Care Home. My friend who I take care of never leaves her room and therefore does not join in the activities. She has been in the home for 3 years now and her needs are provided for in a friendly efficient and professional manner. My one concern
is that I am not sure other than her physical needs being met I have never seen anyone talking with her socially when I arrive, but that is not to say they don't. The manager and receptionist are the only people I ever communicate with and they are extremely welcome, efficient, and available for any queries I might have.

Mum moved to Caton House in February 2015, following a number of incidents while living alone in Dorset.
From the moment she arrived both Mum and her family felt welcome and respected.
Unfortunately, Mum’s mental health continues to deteriorate and this puts immense pressure on the staff but they
are always caring and supportive.

My wife was hospitalised in April 2022 and a delayed discharge plan eventually permitted her to be released to Caton House Residential and Nursing Home. The manager greatly assisted the process. She remained at Caton from 05/05/2022 - 01/06/20222 where she received good care and consideration. She moved
to another care home but in no way was this a comment on Caton. I would have no hesitation in recommending Caton and would be happy to return if necessary.

I didn't give 5-stars for cleanliness because I never do - I'm OCD! And while I think Caton House's value for money compares very well with other care homes, the absolute cost is very high. It's the fault of the market/system rather than Caton House.
Before Mum's respite at Caton House, she was not
eating or drinking properly and was losing weight. She was emotionally distressed and isolated, despite phone calls and visits from family. She thrived during her respite - she put on weight and enjoyed all the activities and socialising.
Overall, I wanted to give 4 1/2 stars, but the website wouldn't let me, so I had to give 4, which isn't a true reflection.

My brother has been in Caton House Residential and Nursing Home for nearly five years and is settled and happy there, enjoys the company of the other residents and the activities which are very good. The staff are very friendly and approachable and committed to their work and I believe do a great job.
It has been a hard two years with the Covid pandemic for them all.

I have found Caton House Residential and Nursing Home to be very supportive and caring. Before moving to Caton House my aunt was very lonely and withdrawn. However, after just a short time she is chatting to other residents and taking part in daily activities.
The food is really appealing and she is
never short of a cup of tea and a biscuit which makes her very happy.

My mother has now been in Caton House for nearly 2.5 years. The good points include:
The staff I have met seem to be committed to their work and I believe do a great job. This has been especially evident during the Covid pandemic. The home is well equipped and the rooms are clean and comfortable.


The

not so good points are few but include:
Food - my mother cannot eat ordinary food due to problems swallowing and so all her food is delivered having been blended. The problem which I have highlighted before is that the food is not properly blended and therefore often arrives with lumps of food. This detracts from the whole reason for having the food blended in the first place.
Senior manager turnover - since my mother has been in Caton House, there has now been 2 senior managers. Both have been excellent but every change brings uncertainty to the situation for the future. I believe the company should investigate what the underlying cause is of such significant staff turnover?

Life during the pandemic is challenging enough but care homes have been under huge pressures. Caton House management and staff have managed incredibly well and should be congratulated. I am very grateful for all the care they showed the residents. Everyone works as a team very effectively.

It may not be the newest, it may not be the fanciest, but the staff at Caton House, from odd job man to chef, to carers, uniformly care and even love their residents. Getting old and losing your mental capacity is scary. This can't be prevented. However, the staff do their best to be reassuring and
to give care and comfort to everyone.

My mum has always been happy at Caton House. She tells me everyone is kind and the food is good. Her condition has deteriorated since March due to COVID. I hope she improves as restricted visiting is lifted and we can take her out.

Extremely good care of my mother in these extreme times. Such kindness as my mother had only just settled into Caton House permanently. Mobility was an issue which was quickly sorted helping her to settle in bed for a night. It was lovely to have care to always rely on as it was no longer possible in

I have noticed that some of my mother's clothing has gone missing and another personal item. Also, leg injury. None of which has a suitable explanation. For the money charged this is unacceptable.

My main responsibilities are to create a relaxed, safe and happy environment for our residents to enjoy a full range of activities; either in large groups, small groups or on a 1-1 basis.


We do lots of singing and have regular entertainment, visitors from local schools join us, and we play bingo, and do arts and crafts, yoga, darts and hoopla to name a few!
We also celebrate our residents' birthdays, throwing big or small parties (whatever they prefer) for their families and friends to enjoy with them in the comfort of their homes.
I love helping our residents to enjoy their time here as much as they can and also to provide comfort when they need it.
