At Caton House the team, many of whom have been with the home for over a decade, are passionate about enriching the lives of their residents. They provide an exceptionally high standard of care and create so many wonderful activities and experiences for their residents.

Providing residential, dementia, nursing, palliative care, the team also provide respite care breaks which can be booked in advance, ideal for carers who would like to plan a short break themselves. There is also a day centre (£27.47 for a half day/£54.94 for a full day).

The home has its own choir, with the residents pulling out all the stops for big occasions like Christmas. And musicians, singers and dancers from the local community often come and perform for the residents.

There are so many animal visits, including regular therapy dog whom the residents adore. There are also gentle exercise sessions, a knitting club, baking, games and quizzes galore.

The community are embraced into life at Caton House, from volunteers who join in with activities and spend time chatting with the residents, to local school children who treat them to sneak previews of special performances, and a local church group who do a monthly service in the home.

Every week a mobile hairdresser visits for appointments in the home’s salon, and there are regular pamper sessions, with manicures. Every week there is a sensory afternoon, with relaxing music, mood lighting and activities to stimulate the senses like hand massages.

This summer the residents have loved growing their own produce in the home’s enclosed gardens, from carrots and tomatoes to peppers and herbs. And they have proudly harvested the produce for the chef to use in the kitchen, which has given them such a sense of achievement.

In the dining room, residents enjoy delicious home-cooked cuisine, from roast dinners with all the trimmings, fish and chip Fridays and home-baking.

Our weekly fees are individual to each of our residents and are subject to a pre-admission assessment, which is required to understand the level of care and support needed. Our 2025 weekly care fees for residential care start from £1492 and for nursing care £1776, but may be in the region of 30% more*. This depends on your care needs and the type of bedroom that is right for you, from our standard rooms through to our premium bedroom options.

I would like to thank all the taff for the family BBQ held on Saturday 16th August. The food and drink provided was very good and plentiful. The staff were very helpful and polite. I know my mum enjoyed the event and I am sure many other residents did too.

Had such a lovely lunch with my mother in law today. Her brother came to visit too, which she absolutely loved. One member of staff made the whole experience wonderful - he was so welcoming, took great care of us, and even sat down for a proper chat, which made it feel extra special.

The standards have got worse since I came here. The food has got worse. The nursing staff who are here are good but there are not enough of them. The cleaning staff have improved. Food is served on cold plates!

This review relates to the Day Centre not the Care Home. My wife has attended the Day Centre one or two times a week for over three years. Overall facilities and staff are good with room for improvement.The Day Centre struggles with attracting people to attend which is surprising in view of the lack
of options locally. However the Local Authority do not tend to promote Caton House as they have there own Council run facility and this may be a factor. Caton House has recently had a new manager and there are signs of improvement so in fairness we should give them 3-6 months to see how things are then.The staff at the Day Centre are generally very friendly ,helpful and hard working.

Generally, a very good experience over the last two years. Care is great and all carers are polite, efficient and attentive. Always dealing with any problems. Food is probably the only problem for long term residents. More fresh fruit and salads needed!

Staff are friendly but facility is under staffed, particularly at night when my Mother (who had cancer that had spread to the Liver, Bowel and Pancreas) was regularly forced to wait 30 minutes+ to go to the toilet, on one occasion I had to ask three times while I was there in the evening with her, in
the latter stages before she passed away she was expected to go on a pad and they would clean her up but again this might be subject to a wait.
When she did pass in the early hours of one morning and I was called back about an hour after I left, it was very clear that the apparent friendliness and sensitivity lasted only as long as the Resident was breathing and thus earning money for the Company.
I was told in no uncertain terms that I had to get the room cleared within 24 hours or else the NHS would be presented with another bill, yes, not even 30 minutes had passed from my being shown my Mother's now lifeless body to being served that demand before promptly being shown the door.

I visited my mother on Good Friday an Easter service had been arranged for the residents. The exceedingly pleasant carer in charge handed out hot cross buns and cups of tea beforehand, and then distributed typed sheets with the readings and hymns. A pianist had come in specially for the service.
Although
Mun is deaf, she sat in the room quite happily and enjoyed reading the order of service.
The carers had gone to a lot of effort and showed the usual high standards of care and compassion I have come to expect from all who work at Caton House.

MUM STAYED FOR TEN DAYS IN FEBRUARY AND WE WERE APPREHENSIVE AS SHE IS QUIET A SOLITARY PERSON AND HAD NEVER BEEN IN RESPITE BEFORE. I am a volunteer at Caton House. This little job has given me a new lease of life. It is so rewarding looking after people not so fortunate as me. A few little hiccups to start with but everything was sorted our very quickly. So look forward to my weekly visit, management and staff are wonderful.

My main responsibilities are to create a relaxed, safe and happy environment for our residents to enjoy a full range of activities; either in large groups, small groups or on a 1-1 basis.


We do lots of singing and have regular entertainment, visitors from local schools join us, and we play bingo, and do arts and crafts, yoga, darts and hoopla to name a few!
We also celebrate our residents' birthdays, throwing big or small parties (whatever they prefer) for their families and friends to enjoy with them in the comfort of their homes.
I love helping our residents to enjoy their time here as much as they can and also to provide comfort when they need it.

My main role at Caton House is to support and lead my team to make sure that the residents' home is clean and comfortable to live in. I enjoy the time I spend with our residents - especially getting to know them!
