Ashlyn Care Home is a friendly and relaxed place for elderly people to live. It is registered for residential and dementia care.

It encourages residents and visiting families and friends to be fully involved in the day-to-day life of the home including activities. All visitors are welcome to join residents for meals, when possible. Above all, staff believe in a flexible person-centred approach.

Was refused entry to my mum yet again due to lockdown and I'm a caregiver. Not being kept informed or updated. The key worker refused to allow me in, blocking me. We had no notification prior. Totally disgusting care and treatment.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We take comments such as this seriously as it does not reflect the usual positive feedback we receive.
As the care home experienced an outbreak of COVID-19, we were required to follow advice from our Local Authority to close the home to visitors until it was safe to re-open. As you are not the essential caregiver for your mum, we were unable to allow you to visit during this time. Whilst we understand your frustration in being unable to visit during this time, we are required to follow this guidance in order to keep the people who live and work in our care home as safe as possible. Our key priority is always the safety of the people we support.
If the home needs to close during an outbreak, our team always does all we can to ensure people don't feel lonely. We understand the importance of keeping in touch with loved ones, so we will always support people to have video and telephone calls with their family and friends.

My aunt was a resident for three years and was always wheelchair-bound. The staff cared for her in her wheelchair using hoists etc. so she needed a lot of support. She was also very frail, aged 94-97 in the home. The premises are spotlessly clean and there is a very calm atmosphere.

staff have always been available to discuss my aunt, especially the busy care home manager. An open and transparent atmosphere is the norm.

My wife was sent here for rehab after an ankle op. The room was comfortable and clean. But the best part was the staff, nothing was too much trouble, they were all kind and sympathetic to my wife and to me as well. The management was approachable and helpful. A great team.

The greatest carers, most care so much like the residents are their family. I do worry about understaffing at weekends and the huge lack of really good activities. All residents love playing ball, music, etc. Beautiful gardens, yet residents hardly get taken out (sad). Room is very clean. The dining
room and lounge could really do with more hygiene and better cleaning. The chef cares so much - amazing food - sweet man.

Ashlyn is always clean and welcoming. The staff are very friendly and there’s a nice atmosphere. Residents are well cared for and always clean and tidy. There are lots of activities and events to stimulate them and my mum enjoys the food.

I can not praise all the staff enough my mother has only been with you for 6 weeks and the change is overwhelming. The help all the staff from reception to cleaners that I've received is second to none. My mother is happy and content and I have all the staff to thank for that. So I thank you all from
the bottom of my heart. It was the hardest decision that I had to make about mum going into a care home. But I'm so glad I made the right one.

Mum has been a resident at Ashlyn Care Home for 3 years. She lost the love of her life after 58 yrs of marriage, she needed extra support so lost her home, then some 4 months later Covid hit and to her, she lost her family too. Mum instantly was welcomed into the Ashlyn family. We got comfort knowing
how well her needs were being met. Mum was frightened of covid and felt she was waiting like a sitting Duck to catch the virus. The home and management team kept us families informed at every stage at almost weekly changes the Government were making for Care homes. Often public knowing things before the homes themselves. I still felt included in her care plans and safety. Staff rallied around to ensure all residents were as safe as they could be. Some staff not going home for days on end not to spread or be a spreader of the virus. Mum is now end of life, the care she is getting is wonderful. She feels this is home, the much loved staff part of our family. Thank you for caring for my Mum x

We had a wonderful day visiting mum and enjoying the platinum jubilee day. All the staff had worked so hard and made us all feel very welcome. Food was amazing and plenty of drinks were available and the activities table was suitable for all ages. Big thank you to all staff

My mother (aged 92) went into the care home beginning of September 2021, she has settled in very well, the staff are all very, very helpful and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble. We chose Ashlyn because after visiting a few different homes, Ashlyn had the personal touch.

My mum (87) was placed into Ashlyn in mid-July having been hospitalised for 3 weeks when it became obvious that she would be unable to return to live at home. The staff at Ashlyn have been wonderful in every respect, with regards to both looking after her and caring for her needs, and also in helping
to see her family through a difficult period of adjustment. We chose Ashlyn in the first place following our tour based on the positive feelings we felt whilst looking around and chatting to the staff and feel that mum really is in the right place for her.

My wonderful mother was a resident at Ashlyn’s from August 2013 until she peacefully passed away in April 2021.
Throughout her time at Ashlyn’s she was extremely well cared for, nothing was ever too much trouble for both managers and their teams.
She was so happy there and as her daughter I couldn’t
ask for more.
I was always made aware of any issue or when Mum was unwell or needed anything.
During her last week of life, the teams went above and beyond to ensure my mum was never in discomfort and treated with the dignity she deserved.
The support the manager and teams gave to my partner and I was amazing and I will forever be thankful that Mum lived at Ashlyn’s and stayed there until the end.

My mum has been a resident in Ashlyn Care Home for almost two years. During this time the help, kindness and support - both physical and emotional - Mum has received has been outstanding. But the support they have extended to us as her family has been equally incredible - nothing is ever too much trouble.
The care provided by the whole team at Ashlyn during Covid-19 has been particularly commendable. They have, of course, ensured full compliance with all government guidelines but more than that they have extended their efforts even further to mitigate the impact and ensure that all residents remain safe and well cared for. We all want to know that our loved ones are safe and genuinely cared for - I cannot think of a better environment than Ashlyn to be confident that my Mum is. We cannot recommend Ashlyn Care Home highly enough. Thank you.

My mum has been a resident at Ashlyn's for 2 years and I cannot recommend the home highly enough. The staff - care, manager, administration, catering and entertainment all work together as a close-knit team and their priority is always the welfare of the resident. My mum has dementia so her behaviour
can be challenging at times but she is always treated with kindness, understanding and the utmost respect. The past year has been particularly difficult for everyone but again the staff within the home have met all the challenges head-on. They have kept the residents safe but done their best to make sure that all relatives can "see" their loved ones either via Zoom or pod visits. They have also done a fantastic job at keeping everyone entertained and spirits high.


In summary this is a lovely home mostly because the Staff are so caring and kind and I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone looking for somewhere for a relative.

I would like to thank the wonderful team at Ashlyns. Mum has been a resident there for nearly two years. We have loved seeing all the activities that were organised for the residents (pre-Covid) and the photos that have been made available. During the past year, Ashlyn has coped so well with everything
that has been thrown at them during lockdown – adhering to government guidance re PPE and visiting arrangements etc. It has been such a relief to know that Mum has been looked after during this particularly difficult time.
Unfortunately Mum went into hospital recently however the team has fully supported us throughout and we have been so grateful to them. The whole team – management, front office, carers, catering and cleaners – are professional, friendly and helpful and we would like them to know that their efforts are hugely appreciated.

The family would like to say a big thank you to each and every one of you, every person we have met or encountered who works at Ashlyn are amazing. Their attitude and work ethic is second to none, they are a dedicated team who give their all to ensure that their residents are as comfortable as they
can be. They work tirelessly at caring for, entertaining, and communicating with everyone, and they make everyone’s stay there a memorable one.
Considering this could be their last place of residence, they could not be in a better place, everyone we see and talk to, all feel the same way, and are happy to be in such a caring thoughtful place. We are sure the relatives of your other residents have the same opinion as ours. I think everyone knows how difficult it is for people to do a job like yours, and it takes a special kind of person to do what you do, and they should all be proud of the job they do, and how they do it.

Hayley Dawkins brings a wealth of experience to Ashlyn Care Home as our new Home Manager. With many years dedicated to the care industry, Hayley’s expertise and compassionate leadership have quickly made a positive impact on both the team and the people that live at the home.


Welcomed warmly by the Ashlyn team, Hayley is truly a breath of fresh air. Since joining, she has introduced a number of exciting initiatives that have enhanced the quality of care and daily life within the home. Under her guidance, Ashlyn has undergone a number of cosmetic improvements, creating a more welcoming and comfortable environment for everyone.


Hayley’s commitment to excellence and her passion for delivering outstanding care are already helping to shape Ashlyn into an even more vibrant and supportive community.
