My mother required 24-hour care after several falls and hospital stays. We looked at several homes but none came anywhere near Halstead Hall. Sadly Mum was only at the home five days, but during that time I cannot fault the care and attention to detail all staff provided. Even at the end, Mum was treated
with dignity and we, as a family, were well looked after.

Dad has been a resident at Halstead Hall since February and the care he has received has been excellent. All the staff spend time with him and also keep the family fully informed as to what is happening. I cannot recommend Halstead Hall highly enough.

Friendly staff and helpful. My uncle is very happy with his surroundings.
Comments often 'if I have to be in a home this one is very good'!
He has been unwell and rapid responses may have saved his life.

From the very first meeting at Halstead Hall, we were very impressed with the care offered. Staff are always welcoming and friendly and nothing seems too much trouble. We get a real family feeling each time we walk through the doors at Halstead hall and are always encouraged to take part. It really
does feel like a home from home and each member is made to feel a very special part of a very special care home.

After two weeks of respite care, following two hospital stays, I am feeling much better and ready to return to my normal life. This is due to all the kindness and care of the staff.
There is nothing they wouldn't do for you and will always stop for a friendly chat.

Halstead Hall Care Home is a very warm welcoming care home where the residents come first. The staff at Halstead Hall Care Home from the management right through to the carers, chef, cleaners and all are so friendly and always have a chat and make you a cuppa. Mum has only been here for a few weeks
but seems to be settling quite well and we're happy she's safe and well cared for.

Only visiting my brother, I have found everyone has been wonderful for him. Always smiles on everyone's face. When I arrive, they know me by name and treat me like a member of the family. I can relax and know my brother is being well looked after. I cannot praise them enough. Only visit in the evenings
so cannot comment on activities.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My cousin is in his 90's, is in good health for his age (with some on-going problems), and has a pronounced learning disability but is always cheerful and good-humoured with an acute awareness of what's going on around him. He is very well looked after and does, I believe, get very good medical attention.
He loves the food and has made a friend with whom he usually sits. He currently has the best quality of life and care (loss of loved ones notwithstanding) that he has ever had.

He has a very nice room and the Home offers a good environment functionally and aesthetically. It is being refurbished to good effect. He is fond of the staff who all treat him very kindly. His face lights up whenever a regular member of staff comes by and they always acknowledge him even if heading elsewhere. It is clear that as a very vulnerable person he feels safe and confident here.

When phoning in, I can always find out how he is and have a strong sense that staff are up to date on residents' issues.

My mother in law has only been in Halstead Hall for a week (after a 2-week hospital stay).

Every time I visit she looks better and is in a positive frame of mind.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.875)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.875) out of 10 for Halstead Hall is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 39 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 39 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.875 for Halstead Hall is calculated as follows: ( (413 Excellents x 5) + (45 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 464 Ratings = 4.875
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Halstead Hall is based on 39 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 65 registered maximum number of service users is 13, which has been reached with 39 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
