The staff and management go out of their way to help and support my mum who has Alzheimer's. Everybody is always friendly and professional and have always gone the extra mile with her care. The home itself is wonderful and my mum always comments on how happy she is there. The management team and nursing
staff have always kept me up to date with how mum is doing but all staff from the kitchen to the cleaners deserve a mention. There is a constant programme of things to do to keep mum motivated provided by an excellent entertainment staff. A truly wonderful place for my mum to be cared for.

My mother-in-law has been a resident at Colne House for a number of years and is very happy there. The staff are all so friendly and welcoming, displaying great understanding of residents needs. Their patience really is appreciated when dealing with the different residents personalities.
So much effort
is put into keeping residents entertained, with many activities organised inside the beautiful home along with visits to the garden centre, local cinema and dementia choir etc.
This years Christmas decorations were absolutely beautiful and such care taken to give everyone a special Christmas.
We feel very happy to know Mum is safe and happy and well cared for at Colne House.

My mum has received exceptional care here, and I couldn't be more grateful. The manager and staff are truly amazing - consistently attentive, compassionate, and always willing to go the extra mile to make sure every need is met. There's a genuine warmth in the way they support residents, and it shows
in everything they do.

The home offers a wonderful variety of fun, engaging, creative and stimulating activities that keep residents active and connected. They involve the local community beautifully with regular family focused events, creating a sense of belonging that means so much to the residents and their families.

Most importantly, my mum is happy and that gives me enormous peace of mind. I feel completely reassured by the manager and the team's unwavering commitment to the highest standards of personal care and service. It is not a care home, but truly a home that cares, and I can't recommend Colne House highly enough.

My mother-in-law is receiving exceptional care at Colne House, and I am so glad we chose this home for her. It gives me and my husband real peace of mind knowing she is happy, safe, and so well looked after. Her room - and in fact the whole house - is always inviting and spotlessly clean, which speaks
volumes about the pride the team takes in their work.

The building itself is beautiful, set within stunning gardens that make every visit a pleasure. We are always made to feel welcome, and the kindness of the staff shines through in everything they do. The food and the menu on offer are amazing, with so much thought put into providing variety and quality. The range of tailored activities is impressive. Truly outstanding care in every sense.

Mum moved to Colne House April 2025. She has been treated as a complete individual where every need possible has been assessed and addressed.
She has dementia and is often confused, but she never fails to wave us off happily and her well being is so visible. She is always immaculately washed and dressed
and colour co ordinated !
The home is beautiful and the team work so hard to maintain and decorate it at the highest possible level.
Then what matters so much to us all is that we are as mum's family, always treated as part of the Colne House family and with such a warm welcome.
Support plans are reviewed monthly and we are always consulted.
The menus are good and food quality very good too.
The entertainment team get to know residents very well and their families too and personal interests are encouraged and supported.
We couldn't be happier with Colne House!

Such a lovely place, and a true community. As grandchildren, it's such a privilege to be able to visit a home which is always so cheerful and welcoming, and where we can have space to see our grandma and have a cup of tea with her like we would when she was in her own home. The events are amazing and
we've made some really special memories with our son (great grandson) especially. Thanks for always going that extra mile!

I feel we are lucky to have a care home such as this in the locality. It is always fresh and clean and the staff welcoming and very friendly. There is a great amount of attention to detail with activities and the place settings for meals. My Mother is very happy and feels cared for and comfortable.

Colne House has been our mother's home for over a year now. In recent months her dementia has worsened and she has lost her mobility entirely. The care staff have shown her is exceptional. She is warm and clean and very comfortable and her medical needs are addressed daily. Watching your parent decline
so dramatically has been eased by the dedication to her welfare. We could not have found a more caring and loving facility where people are very much part of the Colne House family. We recommend Colne House highly.

My mother in law has advanced dementia and is bed bound. I have always been impressed with the care and dignity shown to her and all residents. Her skin is beautiful, her nails short and clean, hair brushed and is always in clean clothes. She is never rushed at mealtimes and good hydration is encouraged.
It is the little details that make a good care home into an excellent care home. Although she cannot take part, there are always fabulous activities and outings on a regular basis. These are often posted on their social media pages. The Christmas table this year looked wonderful. The staff have always greeted me with a smile and they are friendly and professional. Nothing is too much trouble.

After 6 years of caring for my father-In-law, who has Alzheimer's, my wife made the difficult decision to look for a suitable care home. After much searching, we secured a place for him at Colne House. The care he is receiving is outstanding.
Whilst the amazing staff at Colne House do the 'heavy
lifting': an excellent partnership has been established in which we are actively consulted about my father-in-law's ongoing needs and care. We are listened to and continue to play a role in his care. I cannot fault the care he receives.
The staff must be expertly recruited and trained as there is a consistency of practice and professionalism from everyone at every level.
The events, such as Halloween are extraordinary and give the residents such a boost. The home has now been beautifully decorated for Christmas with everyone, staff and residents, getting excited for the special day. It really is the most wonderful community.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.912)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.912) out of 10 for Colne House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 60 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 60 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.912 for Colne House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (649 Excellents x 5) + (47 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 702 Ratings = 4.912
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Colne House Care Home is based on 60 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 38 registered maximum number of service users is 7.6, which has been reached with 60 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Victoria

Victoria Franklin

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2015

I had done domiciliary care earlier in my career and enjoyed it but was frustrated at not being able to spend enough time with the people I was caring for. After a decade managing a children’s nursery in Germany she returned to the UK and was attracted to working at Colne House because of the beautiful building and grounds

Camelia

Camelia Pricope

Job Title: Deputy Manager

I joined the Colne House team in March as Deputy Manager, having worked in the care sector for 11 years, both in care home settings and domiciliary care. I have developed a deep understanding of person-centred care and am particularly passionate about medication management; I have a strong background in supporting people living with dementia. After working in domiciliary care, I felt drawn back to a care home setting, wanting to be more involved in residents’ daily lives. Outside work, I enjoy horse riding, hiking and knitting.

Job Title: Hospitality Manager

I have worked at Colne House for over 10 years as a support worker & cover senior, and have now taken the role of hospitality, I am looking forward to working with Victoria to achieve an outstanding rating. Colne House is a special place to work, the staff are very dedicated to their work and the residents love the family atmosphere. I enjoy socialising with my partner and friends on my days off, and volunteering at Colne for special events or taking residents on trips.

Job Title: Administrator

I worked in the motor industry before I joined the team at Colne House as Administrator three years ago and I really enjoy having the connection with all the families, staff and residents. The staff and residents are amazing and I am proud to be part of this beautiful home. Living in the countryside is lovely, outside of work, I enjoy socialising and walking my sausage dogs at local parks. I always enjoy helping organise and volunteering at the events for the home.

Job Title: Activities & Lifestyle Co-ordinator

I have always worked in events and hospitality before joining the team at Colne House. I am looking forward to spending quality time with all the residents and learning what they enjoy the most. The atmosphere here at Colne House is warm and calm. When I am on shift, I feel like I am spending time with my extended family rather than being at work.

My husband and I have three young children, so being patient and keeping them busy and entertained is one of my biggest qualities. As a family, we enjoy playing sports together, and we often travel to Spain to visit my family, as I am originally from Barcelona.
