I am very pleased with the care my family members are getting. The staff are attentive to individual needs, staff always make you feel welcome, and nothing is too much trouble. If I ever ended up in a home myself, I would want to be somewhere like Colne House.

Colne House staff are exceptional because they act as if they are guests in the residents house and ensure the environment is kept homely and friendly. It was assuring to see how respectful and personable every staff member is towards the residents of the home.
I chose Colne House for my mother as
I was once a service provider (music sessions) and of all the homes I went into to deliver this service, not a single home came anywhere close to the high standards of care I have witnessed at Colne House.
Residents, whatever stage of their condition, are loved and cared for as if they were the staff's own family. The warmth of the staff is clearly the culture of Colne House and must be highly prioritised within their training. This warmth is tangible and can be felt as I pass through the building to see my mother. My mother is in last stages of her dementia and bed bound yet I am eternally grateful and assured that she is in the best home she could possibly reside in.
Reply from Victoria Franklin, Home Manager at Colne House Care HomeThank you for your amazing review, staff at Colne really do go above and beyond for our wonderful Colne family. We love coming in every day to ensure all have the care and support they need. They say that if you love your job it shouldn't feel like work. I personally spend my day in my second home. Your support is greatly appreciated, mum is a huge part of Colne house, and we look forward to seeing you again soon.

Mum has dementia and has been at Colne House for 2 years. The staff have been wonderful with her, and I have been impressed by how personalised her care has been, adapting to her changing needs. Lots of care and attention is spent on making the home look lovely - the Christmas decorations are spectacular!
Mum has had plenty of opportunities to join in activities including an outing today to the local garden centre coffee shop, which she loves! Colne House feels like a warm, friendly home rather than an institution. We have been very happy with mum's care there.
Reply from Victoria Franklin, Home Manager at Colne House Care HomeThank you for your lovely review, Mum is a valued member of the Colne family, we love how she puts her all into our events and visits from entertainers, she is very thoughtful to her friends and ensures we are all doing what we need to. We look forward to seeing you soon.

What can I say about this amazing home? Compassion. Empathy, caring nature from the whole team. I have been fortunate enough to meet and see the team in action. The manager is an amazing home manger and completely understands the residents and family needs. My mother in law is in a safe comfortable
and loving environment. The staff are passionate about what they do. Thank you, what you do makes my wife feel comforted that her mum is being well cared for.

My aunt has been at Colne House for over a year and I'm extremely happy with the care she receives and the friendship of the staff towards her. I feel she is in safe and professional hands and is well looked after. The staff keep me fully informed and when I visit it doesn't feel like a care facility
but a warm and welcoming home.

My mum has been a resident at Colne House for about 18 months now and is the happiest she's been for years. She settled in straight away and has never looked back. The guilt we all feel when we can no longer cope with looking after a relative is soon alleviated when you see how well they are looked
after and the benefit of being with others, socialising, joining in activities and day trips organised by Colne House. The loneliness and isolation she felt when still in her own house, which manifested as anxiety and compulsive behaviour, are now a thing of the past. The staff are like one big family and all seem to go the extra mile to ensure the residents are happy and comfortable (as well as the visitors!). Mum has a dementia dog which never leaves her side; the staff all treat Tush as though he's a real dog too.
Due to the dementia, my mum is not the same person she was, but she is happy, secure, well fed and content, an absolute joy to be with, since moving to Colne House.
Reply from Victoria Franklin, Home Manager at Colne House Care HomeThank you for this wonderful review, mum is such a joy and yes we all love Tush!! My father in law has been at Colne House since August, and he is cared for so well.
The staff are amazing and so kind nothing is ever to much.
The home is absolutely spotless we are always made to feel extremely welcome when we visit and not only is it great to have my father in law so close, it's
great to see all the other residents to.
Having my father in law so well cared for has taken a huge strain off my wife who cared for her dad for a long time.
She can now visit and just spend time with her dad and she loves all the staff and residents to, also one member of staff in particular makes great cup of coffee.

My father is 103 years old and has been in Colne House for almost 3 years. Despite his dementia and lack of mobility, the carers attempt to include him in many of the ongoing activities that they run each week. Each time we visit him, he is up and dressed and normally sitting in the common room, where
he spends his day except for visits to the dining room to eat his meals.
I cannot fault the care and attention that he gets every day. The staff really care and it shows through.
I cannot imagine my father being in a better or more caring place than Colne House and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone that is seeking such a facility.
Reply from Victoria Franklin, Home Manager at Colne House Care HomeThank you for your review. We are amazed by dad every day, he has achieved so much. His visit to the beach with his sister was a huge step for him last year, thanks to our new adapted Kingsley mini bus we are able to offer these experiences, that may not have been achievable before. We look forward to taking them both to the beach again this year. It is always a pleasure to see you when you visit, see you again soon.

My mum moved here in July 2024, albeit reluctantly, she has been welcomed with open arms. The staff are so kind and obviously love their job as they all been there years. The home is clean, warmly decorated and so many staff on duty at any time. It's like a 5-star hotel. If I had to choose somewhere
for me, this would be the place. Highly recommended.

I can't recommend this care home enough. If you are looking for a home in the area for your loved one then look no further. The staff are amazing, so attentive and caring. They treat their residents like they are their own family. The home itself is lovely, set on beautiful grounds. It has a really
lovely homely feeling with a really nice welcoming atmosphere. I know that my nan is always very well looked after here. The meals which are offered are great, home is really clean and there are always activities taking place. The staff also take the residents out to various places, which is lovely. I only have positive things to say, it's an all round amazing care home.

My mother has been a resident of Colne House since January 2024.
She always said that she never wanted to go into care and we were very concerned when it became increasingly evident that she could no longer cope at home. It has been a huge relief to know that she is safe and well looked after. She
adapted to her new environment surprisingly quickly.
The manager and staff are very caring and supportive. The home is welcoming and we are always offered a drink after the long drive to visit.
Keep up the good work team.

Dad has been here for about three years now and I cannot fault the service he is receiving.
I take comfort in knowing that he is being well looked after in a safe, friendly and happy environment.
The food is all homemade and tastes great and there are many activities for him to get involved in, as
well as day trips.
The staff are all amazing and look after us at the same time.
As dad can no longer live at home, this is definitely the next best alternative.
Thank you.

Colne House is a very pleasant care home and the majority of the staff are helpful and caring, however I did witness an occasion when this did not meet the required expectations and lacked professionalism.
Recently it has been evident that staff are over stretched - my Uncle needed to use the bathroom
and there were no members of staff on the floor so I went to the office to request a member of staff.
The facility regarding the lift is totally unacceptable - the majority of the time it is not functioning and on one occasion was out of order for weeks.
Activities and outings have improved.
Wifi connection would be beneficial as my Uncle always asks me to research things on the internet.
We are more than happy to discuss with a member of the Kingsley Healthcare Management Team.
Reply from Victoria Franklin, Home Manager at Colne House Care HomeThank you for your review, we take any concerns about the home very seriously. We exceed the requirements of staff within the home, staff go above and beyond to ensure all residents' needs are met. Unfortunately, we have had some mechanical issues with our lift, however, all residents had access to equipment so they were not isolated, and staff were accommodating to residents who chose to use it. As a company, we identified this and sourced a new company to maintain our lifts. We've had occasions where the lift has stopped working mainly due to user error, and the new company has fixed this within 24 hours. Staff have continued to ensure residents are safe and have access to every area of the home. All residents have access to our WIFI for their devices, we are always happy to share this with visitors when they ask. I am always available to talk to, even if I am on A/L or training, the staff will always make sure a message reaches me to call back. We hope you are satisfied with the changes made.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.912)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.912) out of 10 for Colne House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 60 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 60 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.912 for Colne House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (649 Excellents x 5) + (47 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 702 Ratings = 4.912
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Colne House Care Home is based on 60 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 38 registered maximum number of service users is 7.6, which has been reached with 60 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I had done domiciliary care earlier in my career and enjoyed it but was frustrated at not being able to spend enough time with the people I was caring for. After a decade managing a children’s nursery in Germany she returned to the UK and was attracted to working at Colne House because of the beautiful building and grounds

Job Title: Deputy Manager

I joined the Colne House team in March as Deputy Manager, having worked in the care sector for 11 years, both in care home settings and domiciliary care. I have developed a deep understanding of person-centred care and am particularly passionate about medication management; I have a strong background in supporting people living with dementia. After working in domiciliary care, I felt drawn back to a care home setting, wanting to be more involved in residents’ daily lives. Outside work, I enjoy horse riding, hiking and knitting.

I have worked at Colne House for over 10 years as a support worker & cover senior, and have now taken the role of hospitality, I am looking forward to working with Victoria to achieve an outstanding rating. Colne House is a special place to work, the staff are very dedicated to their work and the residents love the family atmosphere. Job Title: Administrator

I worked in the motor industry before I joined the team at Colne House as Administrator three years ago and I really enjoy having the connection with all the families, staff and residents. The staff and residents are amazing and I am proud to be part of this beautiful home. Living in the countryside is lovely, outside of work, I enjoy socialising and walking my sausage dogs at local parks. I always enjoy helping organise and volunteering at the events for the home.

Job Title: Activities & Lifestyle Co-ordinator

I have always worked in events and hospitality before joining the team at Colne House. I am looking forward to spending quality time with all the residents and learning what they enjoy the most. The atmosphere here at Colne House is warm and calm. When I am on shift, I feel like I am spending time with my extended family rather than being at work.

My husband and I have three young children, so being patient and keeping them busy and entertained is one of my biggest qualities. As a family, we enjoy playing sports together, and we often travel to Spain to visit my family, as I am originally from Barcelona.
