Having to place a very dear loved one into a care home, which we had not even been allowed to set foot inside (due to covid), was unimaginable for us all... but there was no alternative very sadly. We chose Evelyn May House after reading such lovely reviews, and are very grateful to the manager and all those wonderful carers - who at that time, had to deal with the most horrendous situation of lockdowns, etc., and the subsequent added stress and problems this brought to their already busy workload. The current, relatively new manager, has been amazing and made many improvements within the home, we have always found him very approachable and extremely caring. All of the staff do a fantastic job, and the great majority do really seem to enjoy their role in caring for these dependent people - which is very reassuring for us, the family of a resident with dementia and Alzheimer’s. We simply cannot thank all the staff at Evelyn May House enough - for taking such good care of our loved one.
Hi Jill, thank you so much for leaving such a positive review. Your comments will be passed on to our manager and care team. We are always here to help with any other enquiries and thank you again for your wonderful review.
Staff are very friendly and approachable. If there is an issue to report it gets sorted straight away. The food always looks and smells nice, I know my Mum looks forward to 12pm and 4.30pm and her ginger biscuits.

Hi Sarah, thank you so much for the feedback. It is great to hear that mum especially enjoys “her ginger nuts”. Your positive comments mean a lot to our team. We are always here to help with any other enquiries and thank you again for your wonderful review.

It was the hardest decision to finally place mum into care, her Alzheimer’s had become too severe for her to have intermittent home care. Whilst in the early days of becoming a resident at Evelyn May House, she was difficult and clearly showed a lot of unhappiness, slowly but surely she has recovered a little sparkle and has found contentment. She is well cared for, but most importantly for mum, shown respect. Thank you to everyone at Evelyn May House.

Hello Samantha, thank you so much for your lovely review. We strive to ensure we deliver outstanding care to our residents at all times. It is a privilege to look after your father. Again, thank you from the whole team for your review.
Due to circumstances beyond our control, my friend had to find alternative accommodation. The staff at Evelyn May were very helpful in assisting our friend when she went into the home. She has been very well looked after since.

Hello Ronald, thanks so much for your full recommendation in Evelyn May. Our staff always provide the best possible care no matter the situation, and we are so grateful to hear how satisfied you are with your friend's care.
Our friend has only been in Evelyn May House for two and a half months, but we have noticed an improvement already. She is clean and well-fed. She has had her hair done and is always in the communal lounge with a cup of tea and a chat.

Hello Debbie, we are so thankful to hear you continue to be satisfied with your father's care, even in the toughest circumstances brought on by the pandemic. Thank you for the brilliant review.
She has her old sparkle back. Thank you.

The staff have ensured he is happy and have spent time setting up face time for him and the family. They have always been on hand to offer help and reassurance. My Mum was admitted to Evelyn May at the end of January. Mum has dementia and unfortunately, my dad can no longer care for her needs at home - with the ongoing pandemic we were extremely reluctant and had many reservations regarding admitting her into a residential care home. Evelyn May was offered to us so I arranged a virtual tour and I was extremely impressed. Once a date was arranged we dropped off all Mum's belongings the evening before her arrival and the lovely girls set up Mum's room so that it was all ready for when she walked in. Mum arrived and was instantly made to feel wanted - we had to leave her at the door of Evelyn May (due to Covid) which was heartbreaking but we were able to facetime her later that day and she was settled in her room with plenty of company - all the girls made her feel welcome. Nothing has been too much trouble for Mum or for any of us (her family), we facetime her daily. The care and commitment from Evelyn May has been wonderful.

Mum has always received the best of care from everyone at Evelyn May House even during these really hard times when they have been short of staff due to the virus. We are so pleased that she’s been under their care, they keep us well informed about Mum and make arrangements for us to see her on Facebook; we never feel that we are putting the staff to too much trouble. Thank you for looking after our wonderful mum, we know she loves you all so much.
The staff have worked so hard during an almost impossible time. They've always been supportive, kind, and decent with my father-in-law. Friendly and cheerful, up against the most difficult conditions. Thank you.

Mum receives excellent care, especially during the last 12 months. Carers have shown her love and affection which is needed especially as we can’t visit her. The home is kept spotless and she loves the home-cooked food.

Areas for improvement include improved kitchenette areas and greater access for residents to outside spaces on a regular basis. With regard to COVID-19, I commend all their efforts to keep everyone safe. In this respect, they have been outstanding.

As a family, we would just like to give some positive feedback to the staff and management teams of the Evelyn May House care home. My mother has been a resident in the care home for some two years now and has settled in beautifully. The staff are amazing, polite, courteous, always willing to listen to our concerns, enough so that you do actually build up a very good relationship with them. Recently with the current situation Cov-19, they have gone above and beyond to start allowing us, the relatives, a chance to engage with our loved ones. This may only seem a small gesture but to be able to sit opposite ends of a table in the garden is truly fantastic and believe me quite emotional too for all visiting. The staff ensure all distance measures along with sanitisation is all adhered too to help protect all concerned. It's really important for us as families to know that all the staff are in tune with the residents and families alike too, which at Evelyn May they are, thank you all.
My husband is well cared for. The staff are very supportive and treat the residents with dignity and respect.
