The manager and her staff do a great job at Evelyn May care home. When my father first went into residential care he was fiercely independent and still used to go out, however, following a few falls he deteriorated quickly and became bedridden, with person-centred care the staff supported my Dad with the transition and he now relies on the carers to fully care for him. They support his wellbeing by taking time to listen to him, sing to him which I know he really appreciates. I know my Dad found it difficult having to rely on carers for his every need, but the staff have supported him with dignity and this has eased his frustrations. During this period of Covid 19, I have not seen my Dad however I know I can rely on the staff to take care of him when I call for updates the staff are always polite and helpful.

Evelyn May carers have looked after mum so well over the last few years but in the recent pandemic, they have gone above and beyond for both mum and us. I have been able to make face to face contact with mum via technology - which has been wonderful. My almost daily phonecalls are informative and treated with patience and care. They had the foresight to close to visitors very early on in order to protect their residents - our loved ones. I am forever truly grateful to each and every one of you.

Thank you all so much.

My mum is very much cared for, in all aspects of her needs. Her family and my siblings are kept up to date with everything that goes on in relation to her. I feel very much connected with the home and Mum's care. We are contacted as and when/if there is anything to discuss. When we visit, we are informed about how Mum has been and her general well being. It is clearly evident that those taking care of Mum are fond of her and respect her needs and wants. This gives us great peace of mind.

The care home generally maintains a home from home environment, which is beneficial for residents and especially their visitors. The staff work with professional understanding and knowledge providers and their reaction with residents are neighbourly rather than authoritarian.

Both my father and my mother have been residents at Evelyn May House. The staff work extremely hard to make this a home for its residents.
I would recommend it to anyone. Great services and care here.

I do think however, extra staff are needed to support staff that are sometimes pushed to their limits.

We are lucky to have found a residence that has so much care given to my father at Evelyn May House. My stepfather entered the home on the 11th August and he has been welcomed into the home as if he was a member of the family.
The individual care and affection has been so appreciated and has made my dad's dementia far easier to cope with. On Sunday, we went to an organised barbecue, it was a superb afternoon and once again saw so much care and attention given. The caring given by the staff to my stepfather really needs to be seen to be believed.

Love from an appreciative son at a tough time.

Special thanks to the manager and co for getting my mother-in-law to an x-ray urgently when we couldn't. And very special grateful thanks to the lady who gave up her day off to accompany her to hospital for a blood transfusion today.

My mother has settled in very well and seems happy here. The staff have been very friendly and I can talk to them about any problems I have and it gets sorted straight away. The food is lovely and cooked on the premises, Mum seems to be gaining a bit more weight which is good.

The rooms are lovely and spacious, plenty of room for manoeuvring a wheelchair etc. Kept clean and always tidy.

As a family, we have been extremely impressed by the quality of care that mum has received in the first few weeks at Evelyn May House.
Staff are caring, courteous and respectful in both their relationship with mum and her family members.
As mum's needs have changed so has her care seamlessly adapting to her needs. External medical support has been called in immediately when needed.

This is a fantastic facility where I feel sure mum is safe and secure.

I can’t express enough how wonderful and caring the team at Evelyn May House are. They cared for my mum for over two years, right through to the very dignified end. Everyone showed her such tenderness, kindness and respect that made my mum feel safe, happy and secure. I will savour many memories of the happy moments my mum had, especially the singalongs and dancing that she loved.

Dad moved into Evelyn May House on the 25th of June 2018 and unfortunately passed away on the 5th of September 2018. During his time at Evelyn May House, I found the staff, carers and cleaners to be professional, caring, understanding and always treated my dad with dignity and respect. I would not have wanted dad to be cared for anywhere else. The staff were approachable and always kept me informed, they were always welcoming when I visited dad.

The home had a vibrant and healthy atmosphere, the residents seemed happy and well cared for. All in all, I had a very nice experience. If I should ever need this kind of assistance I think I would be very happy here. Not sure if there's enough activities. 1st visit though.

First impressions are always paramount when deciding on a care home. I felt totally at ease with the staff and the surroundings. I cannot fault the care given to my father. Dad passed away at Evelyn May and the staff helped a very difficult situation to be more bearable for his family The whole team, from admin to carers and support staff are absolutely brilliant. I wouldn't have wanted Dad to be anywhere else.

I have visited mum, she feels happy but seems disturbed by unstable people around her, shouting, crying etc.
I feel she would be happier in a more quiet environment.

She has always been a very quiet and introvert person.

Mum was put into Evelyn May House for two weeks respite. During that period mum was looked after very well. She ate well which is something she will not do at home. Her pressure sores (which were very bad on admission) were treated and healed well. She was kept clean and interacted well with all the carers and other staff.
