My aunt was in the Haven for two years and during that time was very well looked after and cared for. She was extremely happy joining in all the activities, which gave our family peace of mind. In December 2016 my aunt got pneumonia and already suffering heart failure it took its toll. The staff were extremely attentive and compassionate. My aunt's health deteriorated on 28th December and when I arrived to be with her the staff, again, were making sure she was comfortable and keeping her company. My aunt passed away on that day and the staff turned their attention to me to make sure I was coping. I cannot praise the management and staff enough for their care of my aunt.

When I have visited it has always been friendly. We were invited to a "German night" in October where the residents were presented with German style food. What I was impressed by was the fact that the lady on the next table to us had to have purified food and instead of it being just put on a plate, it was presented (with the help of moulds) in the colour and shape of the item ie. carrots.

They had a man to sing to them and they were encouraged by the man and staff to join in. In fact, my friend and I had a little dance. My friend tends to like "picky" food and her bratwurst was cut up so she could pick it up easily although she was given cutlery.

My mother spent a few months at The Haven this year having been cared for at home for the last few years. I cannot rate the dedication of the management and team at The Haven enough. Mum was happy and well cared for and enjoyed her last few months. Always something going on and the management are very creative in thinking of ways to improve the home environment and experienced, not just of the residents but also the relatives too. My family and I spend the last week with mum and we were also very well cared for with nothing being too much trouble.

I have noticed the difference in my Mum since her move to The Haven. She looks happy and alert and joins in with what ever is going on in the home, instead of staying in her room like the last home she was in. She talks to and has made friends with the other residents. She no longer stays in bed, she dresses herself which she hasn't done for a while. She seems to have picked herself up and is enjoying her surroundings more since she has been in The Haven.
