I was pleasantly surprised by the level of care and friendly way it was delivered. The care is the most important issue in a care home.
My mum Jeanne has recently been admitted to Humfrey Lodge. I live abroad and visit around 3 times per year. Prior to her admission she was very poorly, thin and very weak. Since she arrived she has absolutely blossomed, has gained weight and is happy. I have just visited and I am delighted with the improvement in her. It's all down to the care that she has received. The staff are so kind and caring. Each and every one of them show care, compassion and patience for ALL residents, not just my mum. I am in awe of the way the lodge is run. Mum loves the food and the carers. I am particularly impressed with the activities provided, singalongs, cakemaking is a couple that I am aware of in such a short space of time. Mum is participating and much more alert than i have seen her in a while. Keep up the good work Humfrey Lodge. On behalf of myself and the whole family. Please keep up the good work. Thank you 1000 times. I could go on forever praising you.
It seems nothing is too much
They keep us well informed of mums progress and mum is encouraged to eat and join in any activities (mum has never eaten much until now - she is actually putting g on weight- that's a miricle in it's self)
The garden and seating area is nice clean and a pleasure to sit in
The place is lovely and clean all the staff are so friendly and introduce themselves
Overall could not fault any of it
Thank you
I cannot praise enough the care and attention she is receiving from. The AMAZING staff. They truly are ANGELS all of them.
They work so hard to keep the residence clean, fed, and entertained.
All of the rooms and, the building it's self is kept very clean too
The food is delicious with several choices to choose from. They have breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with lots of drinks and, snacks throughout the day.
The Manageress April is so warm and, welcoming to EVERYONE she is AMAZING (everyone loves her)
It was with a very heavy heart that I had to put my Mum into care but, it really is the best place for her. She has settled in so well and, she is very happy there. She has made friends and, she has a new lease of life.
All of the staff (and I mean all of them) go out of their way come to say hello and, tell me what my Mum has been up to.
My husband has just spent 2 weeks respite care at Humfrey Lodge and I can't thank the staff enough for looking after him. His room was very clean and bright. Staff checking on him all times of the day. He even was given 2 dinners! I had peace of mind whilst he was in there. Thank you again.
Oh my goodness...I wish I could give Humfrey Lodge a million stars! My mum is 86 years old and when she arrived at the care home she was in a sorry state. She had stopped eating or getting dressed and had lost any interest in watching the television or reading a book. No matter how hard we tried we couldn't seem to help her. BUT...then she went to Humfrey Lodge for 2 weeks respite and we haven't looked back since! She is now a permanent resident and the change is our mum is nothing short of a miracle. I really mean that. The staff are beyond special...their caring, nurturing, funny, genuine personalities shine through. My mum now can't wait for her cooked breakfast every morning and her lunch and her dinner...followed by a sneaky tipple. She watches all her favourites on the tele and laughs with all the staff constantly. They look after her like a princess. There are not enough words to say thank you...you have given our mum back to us and her grandchildren and that is priceless.
When arriving initially at Humprey Lodge we appreciated a kind friendly welcome. The staff are all helpful at all times, and are attentive to both residents and visitors. Humfrey Lodge has a very pleasant atmosphere, and is warm and bright everywhere. My Husband always looks well dressed and cared for. The whole home is clean, well cared for and well organised.
The home is always clean and tidy and very welcoming and all the staff do a very good job.
A recent medical emergency with my father was handled in a caring and professional manner.
This care home is fantastic they are very caring and always put the resediments first. My mother is very happy here and that makes all of us reassured and happy too. "A big thank you to all at Humfrey Lodge"
Staff are always welcoming and taking my husband to distract him when I need to leave him at the home.
Everything at Humfrey Lodge is excellent. The staff is so kind and caring, and nothing seems too much trouble. The manager is lovely and always has time for a chat, whether it be about things in general or a specific concern. She is always helpful. The staff are always available when Mum needs help in personal care or to get a cup of tea. It's just one big family. Thank you.
As a family member, I deeply appreciate the warmth, humour, and understanding shown to me. They always smile, stop to say hello, and share how Mum is getting on. Knowing she is in such a lovely place has lifted an enormous burden from my shoulders. I can't thank the staff enough.
I went to see my friend today, and I have to say I thought Humfrey Lodge was absolutely stunning. Such incredibly helpful and such friendly staff, so clean and inviting, beautiful rooms, so airy and light. Lovely dining room, so many activities for your guests to enjoy, I would definitely recommend to anyone and everyone! I really enjoyed chatting with my friend in her room.
Having a new manager has changed the feel and experience of the home. My grandmother is well looked after and always clean and well presented. The staff are all very caring and committed to providing the best care possible whilst ensuring their safety, privacy and dignity. Since having new management my Nan's sociableness and well being has improved immensely. I would like to thank all of the staff who go above and beyond for all of the residents.
I go every Wednesday to see my 96 year old friend. I have always had a very happy visit. The staff are great, always friendly, well mannered. The care my friend has is wonderful. I am always offered refreshments. The staff never interrupt my visit as it is very precious to my friend. My friend is very happy in Humfrey Lodge. She loves the activities and different outings they have, she also loves the food and the gentle care she receives. I think it's a wonderful home.
All of the staff are lovely, the place feels like home, and they keep everyone busy with fun activities. It was a huge relief knowing my mum was is in such good hands.
On our visits over the last year, we can not fault this home in any way, compared to 3 others we have visited over the years! It's out standing in every way! The staff are exceptionally caring and the home is immaculate! Also the residents are kept occupied daily with occupational therapy, which is superb!
My mother has been in Humfrey Lodge Care Home for the last 5 years, she is very happy and well looked after. The staff treat her with kindness and dignity. They are very approachable and answer any concerns I have regarding my mum. The home is well run due to good management who are always welcoming on arrival. The residents do a range of activities which they enjoy, my mum loves to sing and the staff make a real effort with her.
Very happy with the care my mother is receiving at Humfrey Lodge, she is being looked after very well and gets on well with the staff and other residents, it is a weight of my shoulders. My experiences with the staff in general, particularly the managers has been excellent.
Lovely atmosphere. Caring staff. Welcoming to visitors.

Meet the Team (6)

Welcome to Humfrey Lodge! My name is April and I have been with Runwood Homes for 14 years. I began my career as a nurse back in the Philippines. I started as a health care assistant at Humfrey Lodge which motivated me to learn more about care and management. I have been at Humfrey for 13 years; I started as a care assistant at Humfrey Lodge working my way to Deputy Manager and now taking a big leap as the Home Manager. I look forward to welcoming you to our lovely home.

I have been a part of Humfrey Lodge for the past 24 years. My journey began as a carer, where I gained invaluable experience that ultimately led me to become a Care Team Leader. With my hands-on knowledge, I make it a priority to ensure that the highest standards of care are consistently maintained at Humfrey Lodge. My dedication to supporting the well-being of our residents and leading our care team drives me to always strive for excellence in everything we do.

I’m Weronika, and for the past 13 years, I’ve been passionate about making a difference in the lives of the residents I work with. I love getting them involved in daily activities and seeing the positive impact it has on their well-being. For me, there's nothing more rewarding than making someone smile and helping them feel fulfilled.
Even though I’ve moved into more of a leadership role, I can’t imagine giving up my care duties completely. That’s why I still keep one care shift a week, as it serves as a reminder of my humble beginnings and the heart of why I do what I do.

Hi, I'm Adam, I have worked for Humfrey Lodge for 16 years. I've always enjoyed my role because it gives me the chance to care for others and connect with them on a deeper level. I find real fulfilment in making a difference in people's lives, but I've also realised that it’s just as much about the kindness I share—it costs nothing but means everything.
One of the things I really love doing is taking photos of the residents at the home. In fact, I’m the official photographer! Capturing special moments through photography not only allows me to express myself but also helps preserve the memories for everyone. It’s a beautiful way for me to give back while doing something I love.

Hi, I’m Saju. For the past three years, I’ve been passionate about reaching out to people, helping them feel comfortable, and ensuring they feel safe and cared for in our home. It’s a truly rewarding experience to provide that sense of comfort.
I also have a small garden in the manager's office, which I’ve enjoyed tending to. One of the plants there is named Beatrice, a little nod to my love for nature.
Outside of work, I enjoy listening to music, collecting coins and stamps, and, of course, gardening. These hobbies help me unwind and connect with the world in a more personal way.

Hi, I'm Maria! I have been an Administrator for 15 years, and I truly enjoy helping others and working closely with people. My role allows me to connect with various individuals and contribute to their success, which is incredibly fulfilling.
Outside of work, I love spending quality time with my family, baking delicious treats, and travelling to new places. I also enjoy reading books, as they offer a great way to unwind and learn new things.
I'm passionate about creating positive experiences for those around me, both professionally and personally.
