I have been 100% happy with the care my father has received from day 1. The welcome we got and information given made us feel confident he would be well looked after. The staff have been professional, empathetic, and cheerful. Dad loves them all. The standard of care is outstanding especially the catering. I unreservedly recommend Larchwood.

My husband spent 10 months at Larchwood and was very well cared for during this time. All of the staff are respectful, friendly and welcoming whilst retaining their professionalism. My husband said he was happy there and had no complaints.

Mum became a resident of Larchwood in November 2024. She had dementia and failing mobility.
My brother and I have the greatest respect and gratitude for the care and support given to our mum whilst she lived there. All staff from management, admin, carers, catering and housekeeping were unfailing in their kindness and empathy. Keeping mum safe, comfortable and providing endless cups of tea with a cheery smile and a bit of fun was everything we could have wished for. One of us visited nearly every day and we were always greeted with a friendly smile and a chat by whoever was on duty. If we needed help with anything or had any questions or concerns we knew exactly who to speak with and help was always on hand.

The compassion shown when mum passed away was above and beyond our expectations. I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Larchwood to any prospective families.

I cannot express how pleased my family and mums friends were with the decorations and cake that was done for mum on her 80th birthday at the coffee bar at Larchwood Care Home in Braintree. Kind regards Sam.

My mother and father became residents in 2018. My father passed away 5yr ago in 2020 after a battle with dementia. My mother has recently passed away 1.1.26. I cannot thank the staff of Larchwood highly enough. They have been 1st class in all the aspects of care and understanding. Please pass on the family's thanks for all they have done for them both from all of the Hirst family. They were both in the end suffering dementia. A very cruel condition!

My mother was placed at Larchwood from hospital after falling at home. She only stayed for six weeks but I was very impressed with the home and care provided.
The staff showed genuine interest in the residents and gladly participated in activities with them.

A pressure mat was placed by her bed and on our first visit we accidentally stood on it, a carer was in the room within 20 seconds, very impressive.

Mum has been at Larchwood for a few months now. She came in after a long hospital stay. It's the quality of care and the staff at this home that is brilliant. Mum is now walking, with a frame, rather than a bed bound. She is looking better than she has done for a long time and she says herself she feels safe and cared for. A happy mum is wonderful to see after she was so anxious living on her own in her house.

Our dear family friend who i have known for years is being looked after very well by the staff at the Care Home and they will aways contact my brother and myself when there is a problem so we can discuss it as a team which is very important.
Another important factor is that they actually 'listen' to our concerns and act upon them wisely and keep us in the loop.
Our dear old family friend recently had a 90th birthday party and they made such a lovely effort decorating the private rom with banners and laid out everything just as you would wish for your birthday party. Attention was to the detail and they even allowed another beloved dog in so that he could enjoy patting her as he used to be a dog walker.
The birthday cake the Chef/cook made was marvellous and we all thought it was lovely and tasty.

Thanks to the team for being so kind, attentive and thoughtful - well done guys x

My mum was a resident of Larchwood for just over a year and was very well looked after by the staff there.
They all work very hard to ensure residents are well looked after, the home is cleaned and nutritious meals are served.
Fortunately there is a new manager in place now and my daughter and I had the privilege of being invited to the Open Day recently.
The entertainment was fantastic, there was a delicious barbecue in situ and again the staff worked very hard, despite the extremely warm weather. Everyone had a lovely time, the staff had residents up dancing and it was lovely to see everyone enjoying themselves.
We noticed a vast improvement with the new Manager in place here and were very impressed with the day.

Care work is a tough job both physically and mentally and we cannot praise the staff here enough!

Since my Grandma moved into the care home in 2023 I have been very happy with the care she has received. The carers and staff are always very welcoming when I come to visit and always help engage my grandma into conversation and let me know what she's been up to in her day. I generally visit on a weekday and all the staff are lovely. I have eaten here with my grandma on a few occasions and the food has always been very enjoyable. I feel she is very well looked after and cared for here.

I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Larchwood to anyone. My dad lived there for 2 years before sadly passing away from his Dementia in 2023, and they did an amazing job looking after him, so when mum was also diagnosed with Dementia and had got to the stage that she needed full time care, Larchwood was the first place we went to without a second thought. Mum has now been there for a year and is looked after so well by everyone. The home is always clean and tidy, and nothing is ever too much trouble if you ask for anything, an all round amazing team of people working there!

My loved one came here for respite from hospital. Left here far worse and nearly 2 stone lighter. Every time i visited her clothes were missing, no underwear in her room and she was often sitting in urine. Safety is poor with bell not working, not asking for anyone to sign in or even who we are. Activities were mentioned and on a schedule but twice I turned up as was told none were happening even though I had come especially to join in.

The laundry is an absolute joke, constant clothes missing including mums underwear which was new this year. This has been my first in sight of a home and not one I want to repeat. Rooms are very very basic, like a hospital side room.
