All the staff are very caring - nothing is too much trouble. They look after my husband - if I mention something that is troubling me I only have to mention it and it is sorted. I feel as if I have gained a whole new family.

Cannot fault management and staff. Having just lost my father in law they have been nothing but totally supportive and friendly and we as a family have total confidence in Larchwood. Fully recommend Larchwood, we as a family have a fantastic relationship.

Larchwood is a lovely, friendly home. The decor and rooms may not be perfect, but this is more than compensated for by the care and kindness of the staff. During this COVID period, we have received re-assuring emails and phone calls and every effort has been made to let us have safe and regular visits
when these are allowed.

The genuine care and consideration given to my mother by all the staff at Larchwood is amazing. My mother is always smiling and happy when one of the staff comes into the room so we can see she is happy. This allows us to feel at ease about her wellbeing. The care home is excellent at keeping us up
to date with any events or issues and over the lockdown period have been wonderful at keeping us up to date. Mum loves to dance and she seems to have lots of opportunities to do so.

Although the home is not operating as it would normally. They are doing a marvelous job in keeping relatives informed on their relative's wellbeing and are trying their best to arrange visits under a lot of rules and regulations imposed by the Government.

The manager recently appointed a new activities co-ordinator. This person has been a carer at Larchwood for a number of years, using her knowledge gained over those years, she is improving the well being of the residents. For example, the amount of one-to-one activities have increased. My mum was given
a large print book about the countryside. This really helped to instil conversation between us, which had not happened for a long time. Mum also seemed more areas, and calmer, as do other residents. All due to the new co-ordinator.

My mum was a resident at Larchwood for over 2 years until she sadly passed away last November. My dad had also been a resident until he passed away in 2017. They both received "end of life" care at Larchwood to enable them to stay in a safe, peaceful and comfortable environment until staff the end.
This also allowed our family to have the freedom to spend time with them at any time and to be involved in their care, the continuity of regular staff was also a plus.
Both parents received excellent care throughout the time they lived at Larchwood. They were treated with dignity and respect. Every aspect of their well being was catered for in a friendly, caring, safe and clean home, but without a doubt, it is the staff that make Larchwood such a special place. Each and everyone of them are professional, caring, fun, dedicated, supportive and helpful. They helped us make some wonderful memories, supported us day and night and work tirelessly for the good of the residents. Thank you all.

Having seen 8 care homes I chose Larchwood for my husband's care. This is a terrible thing to have to do and I have had many "ups and downs" since then. However, I have realised that any home which has dementia patients can never be perfect as the residents often undo the care that the staff have given
them. I find the staff down to earth, caring, cheerful and tolerant. I commend them all and say thank you.

When the effects of the Alzheimer's really started to take hold, and Mom had to move into care, she fought the disease with such noble resolve and dignity. She never stopped being appreciative of even the smallest thing anyone ever did for her, and remained kind and sincere throughout. I would like
to take this opportunity to most sincerely thank all the amazing and wonderful members of the Larchwood Care Home team that, over the last four years gave my Mother the most loving and peaceful environment she knew as home. Their sincere fondness and affection was always so evident to see and, on behalf of my Mother and all my family, I would like to thank them from the bottom of my heart for making Mom as comfortable as anyone could ever do.

The process of finding the right place for my mother's needs was supported by the knowledge and care shown at Larchwood. They took the time to listen to our many questions and showed care and interest in my mother's needs and the family too, as it was an anxious time for all of us. The home is spotless

Staff are very caring, however, there needs to be more in numbers. If one staff member is on break/lunch/dealing with a fall it leaves one person to look after approx 20 people. Not enough entertainment. People on my mother's floor often miss out and entertainment on that floor often does not happen.
However, I understand that the entertainment person is often told to cook/care which does show a lack of staff.

Thank you for your comments. We understand that getting out and about is very important for our Residents and we have been on outings. Unfortunately, only one or two Residents, that require a wheelchair, can be taken at any one time, this means that it takes a while for us to be able to get around all of our Residents on a regular basis. However, please feel free to see the wellbeing coordinator to discuss this further as we are happy to listen to any suggestions.

We liked the home from the time of the visit. We have encountered some issues whilst my sister was setting in, but as everything has been dealt with so swiftly and efficently we are able to say that we are even happier now. The staff are very good and it's clear they work as a team.
