My stay in Larchwood Care Home is nice and I enjoy seeing and talking to the very kind staff. I have my hair done by a very nice lady here, makes you feel better and the food is very nice. Having my room door open enables me to see people walk by and call out hello. My window looks out onto a grass area and I see birds flying. I am being well cared for and feel very safe. Love seeing my family when they visit regularly.

My friend was in the home for twenty months and loved every minute. She was a person who did not like to mix but within a couple of weeks, she was a changed person. This was due to the kindness and care she was getting from the staff. One thing she loved was the food but then no one could complain about it. To finish I must mention the staff. Everybody in this home were professional but also very caring. I would like to thank all the staff for not just looking after my friend but my family as well.

I am pleased with the care and attention my wife has received since being admitted to the care home. The food offered is of good quality and good portion size. There are a number of services provided, for example, hairdresser, chiropody, etc. which my wife has used. Overall, the service provided has made my wife's stay very comfortable.

All the staff are very caring - nothing is too much trouble. They look after my husband - if I mention something that is troubling me I only have to mention it and it is sorted. I feel as if I have gained a whole new family.

Larchwood is a lovely, friendly home. The decor and rooms may not be perfect, but this is more than compensated for by the care and kindness of the staff. During this COVID period, we have received re-assuring emails and phone calls and every effort has been made to let us have safe and regular visits when these are allowed.

The genuine care and consideration given to my mother by all the staff at Larchwood is amazing. My mother is always smiling and happy when one of the staff comes into the room so we can see she is happy. This allows us to feel at ease about her wellbeing. The care home is excellent at keeping us up to date with any events or issues and over the lockdown period have been wonderful at keeping us up to date. Mum loves to dance and she seems to have lots of opportunities to do so.

Although the home is not operating as it would normally. They are doing a marvelous job in keeping relatives informed on their relative's wellbeing and are trying their best to arrange visits under a lot of rules and regulations imposed by the Government.

The manager recently appointed a new activities co-ordinator. This person has been a carer at Larchwood for a number of years, using her knowledge gained over those years, she is improving the well being of the residents. For example, the amount of one-to-one activities have increased. My mum was given a large print book about the countryside. This really helped to instil conversation between us, which had not happened for a long time. Mum also seemed more areas, and calmer, as do other residents. All due to the new co-ordinator.

Mum has been a resident at Larchwood for nearly 4 years. We are very happy with the way Mum is treated by the manager and the staff. They are caring and considerate and very sympathetic to Mum's needs. As a family, we always feel very welcome at the home and are treated like old friends. We are so pleased we chose Larchwood for Mum.

Overall Experience
My mum was a resident at Larchwood for over 2 years until she sadly passed away last November. My dad had also been a resident until he passed away in 2017. They both received "end of life" care at Larchwood to enable them to stay in a safe, peaceful and comfortable environment until staff the end. This also allowed our family to have the freedom to spend time with them at any time and to be involved in their care, the continuity of regular staff was also a plus.

Both parents received excellent care throughout the time they lived at Larchwood. They were treated with dignity and respect. Every aspect of their well being was catered for in a friendly, caring, safe and clean home, but without a doubt, it is the staff that make Larchwood such a special place. Each and everyone of them are professional, caring, fun, dedicated, supportive and helpful. They helped us make some wonderful memories, supported us day and night and work tirelessly for the good of the residents. Thank you all.

Having seen 8 care homes I chose Larchwood for my husband's care. This is a terrible thing to have to do and I have had many "ups and downs" since then. However, I have realised that any home which has dementia patients can never be perfect as the residents often undo the care that the staff have given them. I find the staff down to earth, caring, cheerful and tolerant. I commend them all and say thank you.
