I cannot thank the staff enough for their continued hard and caring work they do. They always have a smile on their faces and nothing is too much trouble for them. It takes a certain kind of person to do this kind of work and you have certainly found them at Okeley. I have seen such a difference in
my Mum since she has been there.

My mother has been in Okeley since February 2020 and settled in very quickly. She was very happy with her decision to move. Then came lockdown which unsettled her and seemed to progress her dementia, making her agitated and confused. The staff are going over and above the extra mile to help Mum through
this dark stage in her life. They facilitate visits while keeping within the bounds of social distancing and this makes such a positive difference to Mum's life. The staff are doing their utmost to provide social activities for the residents in the absence of outside entertainers. I see them as extended family and know Mum is in good hands. When I have struggled to understand the changes in my mum, the staff are always there for me too.

Mum has only been at Okeley Care home since January 2020 but the only comment I can make is fantastic. That applies to the staff and facilities.

I would like to use this post to thank the staff at Okeley on my mothers unit who I know have been working very hard to care for my mother and I know she is safe and very happy. Okeley is a first-class home and can’t thank the staff enough who are always cheerful, happy and dedicated to residents health
and welfare. I have been given updates on my mothers care regularly which is very comforting in these extremely anxious times. Thank you all.

During this very worrying time, every staff member has gone well beyond what they should be expected to do for their residents. We have been constantly kept informed of every step that has been made to keep everyone safe and their well-being catered for. My family can never really express enough our
gratitude to them all and their families.

Both my parents have resided at Okeley. My father had been there for the last two and a half years before he passed away recently, and we can do nothing but praise the care and concern all the staff have shown him.

My mother has been a resident for almost two years and during this time has been treated with care as an individual and with dignity. Sadly Mum has just passed away and during this time nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Mum's care was excellent and I cannot praise them too much.

My mother has been a resident at your facility for about 2 years now. She came in with dementia but is now under the end of life care. The care she received over the 2 years has been extremely good, but the care she is getting now is exceptional. She couldn't be in a better place.
Thank you.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.744)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.744) out of 10 for Okeley Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 46 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 45 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.744 for Okeley Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (425 Excellents x 5) + (106 Goods x 4) + (14 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 547 Ratings = 4.744
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Okeley Care Home is based on 45 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 84 registered maximum number of service users is 16.8, which has been reached with 45 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2020

I joined Excelcare in 2016 after having been with my previous care provider for 16 years and wanting to develop my career further. I started at Sweyne Court in Rayleigh where I stayed for four years. Then in 2020, the Home Manager role became available at Okeley, and I was ready for the new challenge whilst staying with Excelcare, where I love working. It was the perfect opportunity.

I enjoy making people happy and comfortable and creating
memorable moments that the people living with us can enjoy and reminisce about. It is so wonderful seeing people previously isolated become social butterflies and make new friends.

The team are kind, caring and compassionate and puts the people living at Okeley first. They are keen and willing to learn, and I hear many positive comments about them from the residents and their loved ones. I am so proud to be part of the Okeley family
