My mother passed away earlier this month after having spent 3 years at the New Deanery and I couldn't have wished for her to have received better care. I found the staff kind and attentive - in spite of the fact she could be a 'little' difficult at times and the room was always clean. I no longer live
in the UK and couldn't visit her as often as I would've liked, but the staff were superb in arranging for me to FaceTime with her. I've no hesitation in recommending this care home and can only hope that if I'm ever in the same situation, I receive the same level of care as she did. The affection shown to my mother was outstanding and I know how much she appreciated it.

I would like to thank and congratulate ALL members of staff, for the hard work and care provided throughout the last 7 months and the issues arising from the covid pandemic.


My aunt has been with the New Deanery for coming up a year, and her care would appear to excellent.


In such testing times,

we have been kept updated on a regular basis, and have visited when permitted. We have been fully supportive of the actions they have taken and the procedures put in place.


Their covid procedures are excellent and they have done a great job keeping everyone safe and well.

My auntie has been a resident for a couple of years, she always appears well cared for and generally happy. She needs twenty four hour care, and the family are happy to visit her knowing she is receiving this at The New Deanery. She would be very lonely if she could not mix with other residents.

My aunt moved in here, having come from a retirement complex, as she needed care and help. She and I were made so welcome, and everything was done to help us settle her into a smaller 'apartment'. She was settled on a table for meals with the loveliest of ladies. I have always been made most welcome
in all aspects of The New Deanery. The staff are extraordinary, fabulous and hardworking. Thank you so much.

I had not visited The Deanery until a family member became a resident. I am overwhelmed with all the staff at The Deanery, they are the most kind, helpful, professional staff I have ever come across. Sonnet should be very, very proud of all that work at The Deanery. When I visit I am offered a hot drink
and made to feel very welcome. Excellent care home, excellent staff. Well done to you all.

Thank you so much for accommodating my mum for a short stay. She had a fantastic time. She hadn't spent so much time with her brother since they were children. The kindness and thoughtfulness of the staff are amazing. The food was delicious and as a visitor, I also felt cared for. I can't say enough

My mum was here in respite for three weeks following several periods in hospital. The care was excellent. All staff, regardless of their role, were kind, caring, efficient and helpful. The room my mum was in was well equipped and comfortable. The food was very good and plentiful and because of that
mum now has her appetite back after a long period of 'not being bothered' to eat. I am a lot younger than nearly all of the residents there but will need help after orthopaedic surgery next year, and although I am not local, I will almost certainly be asking for a fortnight's respite care there myself.

The New Deanery has been a godsend to us. My mother-in-law was a resident for 15 months and was treated with the utmost respect. She was not the easiest of people and was fiercely independent and was respected for that in the case of her care. Everyone from the manager (who has the patience of a saint)
front of house staff always cheerful and ready to help. Deputy manager, senior carers and carers, kitchen staff, bistro and coffee lounge workers and cleaners always passed with a smile and a hello. I would definitely recommend this care home to anyone who has a relative needing caring with kindness.

I was, on arrival by care, greatly impressed by the building itself and the surrounding grounds.
I had not visited before. What I saw of the inside of The New Deanery I was more than greatly impressed. It was, neat, clean, quiet homely and felt comfortable from a visitors view.

I checked several care homes before deciding that the New Deanery was best suited for my sister's care.
The standards are high and my sister's care is exemplary and all her needs are met.

On my first visit to review The New Deanery I knew it was going to be a great place for dad.
It has a warm, friendly atmosphere with a variety of spaces to sit and enjoy a cuppa or join one of the many activities throughout the week.
Dad has gradually got more and more involved and it's great to
see him joining in and enjoying himself. Even if he doesn't always remember, it's about enjoying it "in the moment."

My father entered The New Deanery for a further 6 weeks post hospital assessment. He was very poorly after discharge. All the staff from "the top down" did their utmost to help dad in every possible way, always going beyond "the extra mile". He was always well cared for and the same staff were very
sad when dad finally had to go back into hospital due to an escalation of what was a failed discharge. One lovely staff member even shed tears after the ambulance got dear dad on board to go to hospital again. Thank you one and all. We view you all as friends.

Mine was an unplanned stay following the surprise fitting of a pacemaker a few days earlier.


My room is ideal as it looks directly out onto the garden. I anticipated that the attention would be excellent but I didn't expect the offer by your marvellous adventure team that included a local pub visit!


The

marks shown in the boxes are most justified but I was disappointed that even my knowledgeable friends were unable to give me mobile contact; I was thus unable to make necessary arrangements with anyone at home.


A less important matter is that the television programme choice is restricted, leading to me being an expert on the first thirty editions of Dad's Army - however worthwhile. Nothing though can reduce my overall impression of being made welcome by every member of staff. My thanks to you all.

Rachel

Rachel Marlow

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 1999

Rachel has worked at The New Deanery for over 25 years, starting as a Care Assistant and progressing her career with various promotions as Senior Carer, Team Leader, Deputy and eventually Home Manager.


Rachels' dedication and commitment to The New Deanery is very special indeed, and her passion for her residents and staff can be seen in everything she does. Having constant leadership has led others at the New Deanery to follow in her footsteps and progress their careers at the home which in turn ensures our residents have a stable and consistent team to care for them.


When asked why she chose a career in care, she said, 'I just wanted to make a difference in the lives of the elderly.' We can certainly say she has done that and more in her quarter-century of caring for those living and working at The New Deanery.


Outside of work, Rachel is an avid cricket fan and enjoys travelling with her family and friends (but not her two furry friends, her cats Oscar and Smudge!).
