The New Deanery

The care my father receives is excellent. Following his bereavement, the staff go the extra mile to support his needs, both emotionally and physically. Medical needs are flagged up with the GP and district nurses very promptly and generally, we are very happy with the care provided at The New Deanery.

My Great Uncle is extremely happy being cared for at The New Deanery, the staff are so kind and attentive, nothing is too much trouble for them. All of the amenities are great for residents and they have a home from home experience at The New Deanery. The activities they provide are always entertaining and the Home is always so welcoming to families and visitors.

I am a regular visitor to my uncle at the home. During my visits, I have always found the staff to be friendly and extremely helpful and caring. The accommodation is of a very high standard and gives me great comfort that I know my uncle is in a safe, happy and secure environment.

My cousin went into The New Deanery in 2017 very poorly but has thrived. She is now 94 and looks and feels really well. She loves being there. The staff are excellent, can't fault them.

My brother-in-law has been at The New Deanery for the last two years. The home has a safe and caring environment and a warm and homely atmosphere. Staff should be very proud of the hard work and professionalism they provide, nothing is too much trouble.

After having attended the coronation day activities, I applauded the staff for all their efforts on the day. Although the weather was against them, the entertainment was fantastic - a brass band - the food was marvellous. All of the staff were attentive to residents and visitors alike.

My mum is very well looked after here.

Lovely caring staff across the board. All staff go above and beyond to make The New Deanery feel like home. I wouldn’t want my Mum to live in any other residential care home. I’m always made to feel welcome and to get involved with activities. Over the last four years Mum has resided there I have made friends with staff and other residents. Mum is safe there and cared for. There are always activities to get involved in which Mum always does. Keep up the good work.

Staff are very caring, helpful and familiar with my Mother’s situation and needs. The home and grounds are very pleasant, so in good weather it is lovely to take my Mother outside. There are plenty of activities that my Mother enjoys, particularly visiting singers.

An excellent care home that offers residents good support. The food is of excellent standard. Activities are engaging. The staff are warm and caring. Residents are treated with respect, opinions are sought on key issues. My father is greeted warmly as he makes his way around the home. The staff know him well. Management communicates with family regularly and deals with any issues immediately. Management are supportive of family members.

Excellent care home in every way, beautiful location, well-thought-out rooms for residents and very clean throughout. A wide range of activities are arranged twice a day, trips out to the garden centre, cafes etc and very good food. Most importantly, the care received by the residents is first-class. The staff are all very caring, patient and cheerful at all times and very welcoming to visitors. Cannot praise The New Deanery too highly.

My mother passed away recently in the care home - peacefully and with dignity. I cannot praise the staff highly enough for their round-the-clock thoughtful and thorough care of my mum. All staff were considerate, caring and respectful of her needs. The staff have also been exceptional in their care of my father following the passing of my mother. The staff show genuine warmth towards my dad. They help him to occupy his time - concerts, bagatelle, and horse race activities are particularly welcomed by my dad - and give him space to reflect when he wishes this. The staff were very supportive of close family members too during this difficult time. I would not hesitate in recommending this residential home to anyone seeking to find a care home/caring environment to support their loved one.

My sister has been a resident at The New Deanery for over four years. My sister is well looked after and always seems happy. My sister loves the activities and trips in the minibus. The staff always have time for my sister and always have time to tell me how she is. My sister enjoys the food, which is excellent and I often stay for lunch with her. We both enjoy the lovely grounds.

As soon as you enter, the cleanliness is apparent. My mum has been a resident for five years, and it is like walking into her home with lots of family present. Mum has just got over Covid and I can only applaud the staff for the care and support they gave. I would like to thank them all.

I was there for the Jubilee celebrations and everyone enjoyed the tea party with relations and friends.

Staff at The New Deanery always have treated my mother with respect, making her experience wonderful.

Far too many negatives and not enough positives. Management appear to not be in control. Some carers at least try, others just say they are too busy to assist the resident.

Overall, The New Deanery management and staff, provide an excellent service and Mum is well cared for. However, on occasions, meals are delivered cold and not what has been ordered. Service could be improved by agreeing an individual 'likes & dislikes' with the residents and more attention to what has been requested. Further, again, occasionally laundry is not actioned and returned in a timely manner and another resident's clothes are sometimes returned and placed in drawers, leading to frustration. A little more care and attention to detail would easily resolve the issue. Notwithstanding the two concerns, Mum is extremely happy at the care home and very much appreciates the dedicated service and care received.

My overall view of the New Deanery Care Home is outstanding, the care and attention to detail never cease to amaze me. During the past difficult times when staff were off with covid and people were working long hours to cover, the standard of care my mother received did not decline at all, which was a credit not only to all the staff but how the home is managed. Communication is very good and I am kept totally in the loop, especially as my mother is suffering acute dementia and her behaviour is challenging. My mum is not easy to care for at this time but her needs are well supported by a skilful and highly trained team. I would highly recommend this establishment.

I do not believe that the care and support that my mother received during her stay at the New Deanery could have been bettered. She considered all the staff and carers as her friends and extended family. Although she resisted going into care, within days she was referring to The New Deanery as home and was extremely happy and well cared for. While she was still mobile, she was taken out on trips which she thoroughly enjoyed. We cannot praise all the staff highly enough for the love, care and joy that they gave to my mother. On behalf of her family, I wish to give a huge thank you to all the staff at the New Deanery.
