My mum has been at Old Shenfield Place for just over a year now. During that time she has really been encouraged to the things she loves which is gardening, in particular growing vegetables. This is really important to her.

She is really happy, we as a family love all the staff, they are all great.

My father has been a resident at Old Shenfield Place for six months. The home has a very caring and peaceful atmosphere. The staff are friendly and appear to take diligent care of my dad. The home is well maintained, has good cleanliness and is kept tidy. The residents seem to be content. The managers are always available to chat to and I know my dad's well-being is a priority.

Ols Shenfield Place is a place to be seen. The staff are wonderful to all the residents, always making sure they get them active, and I think the residents enjoy the activities they do. Although Shenfield Place is an old building, you would never believe it once you are inside. Every room is so comfortable. It's a pleasure to visit my friend.

Me and my sister couldn't wish for a better care home. The staff at the home are very professional and friendly. It really shows how much they like working for the care home and how much they care about the residents. There are lots of activities the home puts on for the residents, which keeps them stimulated. I feel my mum and dad are happy and safe at Old Shenfield Place.

What an amazing place, and what amazing staff - warms my heart knowing my uncle was looked after by such amazing souls. The entertainment and care are outstanding. I am very happy with the care Dad has received since being in Old Shenfield Place Care Home. He was deteriorating fast at home and was very difficult to deal with. It's like having my old dad back again since he has been with you. He seems happy, well-fed and well looked after. Staff are attentive and go out of their way to help. It gives me peace of mind knowing he is there. Well done team.

Dad came to Old Shenfield Place in June 2022 after living with us for four and a half years. Dad was very difficult - bad-tempered and needed a lot of support. The staff have been very good with him and his demanding ways - hot team being one of them. I do worry that he has become very isolated and wants to stay in his room. He started joining everyone for lunch but now has it in his room. He does not go out and join in with any activities, which I feel is very sad.

Overall Experience

Old Shenfield Place provided a loving, caring environment for our mother for many years. They were wonderful in adapting and providing varied enrichment as the pronounced symptoms of her stroke continued to debilitate her. Her peaceful and dignified passing was there with the staff who had become her family in what became the safe haven of her new home. Not long after, at the beginning of the pandemic, we were relieved when my father was able to move in. His dementia care needs are very different, and yet he is so happy at home and content with his life thanks to his tricky care needs, which particularly the manager has ensured have been actioned. As a family who all live over two hours away, it has been a huge relief to have the confident knowledge that our parents are well looked after when distance prevents us from giving the quality of contact that every member of staff at Old Shenfield Place gives to residents like our parents. We can't thank them all often enough.
