My husband was at St Mary's Court for over a year. I was a regular visitor who turned up on different days and times. The care and love the staff gave to my husband was excellent. Throughout the week, there were plenty of activities for the clients to engage with if they so wished. At least once a
month, additional themed family events were arranged, making it fun and easier to bring grandchildren along to see their relatives.
I reviewed many care homes in the area before I choose St Mary's. The service and care received was beyond my expectations.

After a long struggle deciding whether to move my wife into care events lead me to the conclusion that I couldn't care for her effectively at home. Local services provided only limited care facilities. The change in my wife is the result of good care and activities was almost immediate.

My sister is in residential care Ash unit and after ironing out some initial issues, which were resolved, we are now satisfied with the care given, in particular, one member of staff who is absolutely excellent.

Whilst happy in St Mary's my mother was affected by the call button response times, especially at night when nobody arrived at night time to help her to the toilet and having to use the incontinent pants. Food choice limited due to her being allergic to fish. No set time for meals - mother likes consistency.

My father was at St Mary’s care home for just under a year. The staff on Oak unit are the nicest, most caring people you could wish to leave your loved ones with. They are respectful, understanding and made the emotional journey we were on a little easier. We can’t express in words how grateful we are
that we chose this home for our dad.

I have been looked after extremely well here at St Mary's. The staff have been excellent, kind, friendly, caring and always found time for a friendly chat. I have been spoilt rotten by everyone and the food has been superb. No complaints whatsoever.

My mother arrived at St Mary's very poorly, having broken her pelvis in two places. She was there for nursing care on Cedar Unit where the care she received was amazing. She was non-weight bearing and required physical and mental support - the staff were always encouraging, treated her with dignity,
but above all kindness. She came home towards the end of March walking with a frame and has progressed to a walking stick. Thank you Cedar Unit for everything. We were able to take mum to see everyone on 16/8/18!

St. Mary's Court is a very friendly home and all the staff are caring and helpful. My Mother in Law always looks comfortable and clean when I visit and when she needs help with anything, the staff respond quickly and cheerfully. The doctor is always called if there are any health issues.

My mother is a resident at St Mary's Court Care Home, she is well looked after by great staff who have her best interests at heart. Whenever my cousin or myself visit Beach Unit there is a very welcoming environment with lots of activities going on. I find the staff to be professional and friendly in
their dealings with residents and visitors. Her room is kept clean and tidy. The gardens are very pleasant and my mum enjoys sitting outside watching her grandchildren play when they visit. My cousin and I are very happy we found this home for my mum she is very happy here.

We continue to be very happy with the care Mum receives at St Mary's Court Care Home. There is always a happy atmosphere from reception through to caring staff.

We love going to 'The Bistro' with Mum as this feels like we're going to the coffee shop like we used to. There have been four great events

since July on the grounds. The summer fete and seaside day were really good. So nice to see so many residents and their families enjoying it. The catering especially the fish and chips were superb.

St Mary's Court Care Home has Care with a capital 'C'.

An amazing team of people who work with love and compassion not only to the residents but their families also. My sister has been at St Mary's Court Care Home three and a half years. In that time she has enjoyed so many of the activities that

provided a real home from home that St Mary's Court Care Home provides.

My aunt was admitted to St Mary's Court in May 2017 after her daughter and myself had visited several care homes. Our choice of St Mary's proved to be a good one. I cannot speak too highly of the home. It is set in lovely grounds where residents can walk and the home is spotlessly clean. The staff are
friendly and very caring and always ready to speak with relatives. My aunt loves the food and enjoys the many activities which that the home arranges including weekly bus outings. Residents' own rooms are lovely and have en-suite showers. All residents are very safe and both her daughter and myself are very happy with all aspects of her care.

From entering the building you are made to feel welcome. The unit Oak in which my aunt is superb in all ways. The staff are caring observant, helpful and always on hand to look after their charges. My aunt has settled well and looks 100% better than when she arrived. Everything she needs or wants is
satisfactory.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.562)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.562) out of 10 for St Mary's Court Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 27 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 25 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.562 for St Mary's Court Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (220 Excellents x 5) + (64 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) + (13 Poors x 2) + (5 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 308 Ratings = 4.562
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for St Mary's Court Care Home is based on 25 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 90 registered maximum number of service users is 18, which has been reached with 25 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
