With just 38 bedrooms and homely surroundings, Ashley House has a warm, family feel. The team, many of whom have been with the home for over 10 years, provides residential and respite care, which can be booked in advance.

The team is passionate about Sanctuary Care’s vision of Enriching Lives, which is based on the six senses people need to meet to feel truly happy and fulfilled – a sense of security, achievement, belonging, significance, purpose and continuity.

The residents are engaged with inspiring activities, including the Grow Your Own Way project, where the residents nurture produce they have grown from seed, which is then used in the kitchen by the chef, giving them such a sense of achievement and pride.

The residents have an active role to play in how their home is run, with Ashley House’s resident ambassadors getting involved in everything from supporting with interviewing potential staff, to providing resident feedback.

There are so many other activities to enjoy, from music and games with nursery children, who are regular visitors, animal therapy, baking, trips out into the community, arts and crafts and pampering in the hair salon.

Residents enjoy delicious, home-cooked meals in the dining room, prepared by the home’s chef. Sometimes, when living with dementia, people can struggle to make food choices, so the chef will present dishes at the table, to stimulate the senses and help residents to decide what they fancy. And every day the chef bakes cakes and other sweet treats for afternoon tea.

Ashley House also has its own bar – The Dog and Trumpet, with authentic pumps and memorabilia, where residents enjoy socialising with their favourite tipple!

There is a main lounge and lots of cosy spaces to relax with loved ones, who are welcome to visit at any time. Ashley House also has a Namaste room, where residents can relax in a sensory setting.

Our weekly fees are individual to each of our residents and are subject to a pre-admission assessment, which is required to understand the level of care and support needed. Our 2025 weekly care fees for residential care start from £1626 but may be in the region of 30% more*. This depends on your care needs and the type of bedroom that is right for you, from our standard rooms through to our premium bedroom options.

Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
This unit provides care for a number of ladies whose mental capacity have deteriorated and some who also have physical disability. It is readily accessible by visitors and I have always found there are good levels of care. In a unit where there are challenges they bring a lightness of touch and enthusiasm.
The overall atmosphere is contentment. The rooms are comfortable and brightened by personal possessions of the residents. No one would volunteer - nor could they not live here - if the need ever arose this may well be as good as it gets.
