My partner is only in the Belmont for a short time because I have had major surgery and I am unable to care for him at the moment. He has short-term memory loss and also is not good on his legs so he cannot be left alone. The Belmont have been really wonderful, making him feel cared for and comfortable.
His room is always clean, neat and tidy as he is. The food is excellent. He particularly likes the cakes!! The staff are always helpful and make you feel welcome when you visit. It is almost a 'home from home' and you would go a long way to beat The Belmont.

The tea in the tea trolley could improve, but the cakes are yum yum. The rooms, where the people are during the day, are easy going and friendly. I have had a meal with my mother and the food is good and well organised. People can wander around lounges resembling a house layout, which it is. Staff are
friendly and courteous.

Mum moved to Belmont Castle in mid-December. From the moment we walked in the door, she seemed to relax - there is such a lovely, happy family atmosphere in the home. All staff have specialist knowledge needed to deal with dementia and in the month since she has been there, Mum has put on weight, enjoys
her food and looks much better. She is always dressed appropriately and there are plenty of staff on hand to assist or reassure her. She has confidence in them and has obviously built up good relationships, even though she has been there for such a short time.

Staff keep in close contact, informing us of any changes in medication or concerns. Mum is enjoying the company of the other residents and had a wonderful Xmas, it was such a pleasure to see her dancing at The New Year's Eve party, and when she got tired, tapping her feet in time to the music. She now smiles a lot and seems more content. After visiting, we leave knowing that she is in safe hands and is well looked after.

Mum has been in Belmont Castle Care Home for approximately 7 months. She was very unhappy when she first arrived as she had a bad experience in hospital and didn't know what to expect. However, within a few days, she had dramatically improved due to the kindness and care given by the staff. Everyone
takes the time to ask if she needs anything and she is included in all the activities.
If I had to criticise anything it would be the laundry. Items that have mum's name on them are taken for washing and not returned to her room. When queried no-one seems to know where her clothes are?

After my father (91) had a severe illness and in order to give my mother some respite, we found Belmont more by luck than design.
I am so glad we did.
From the moment I first walked through the door I've been impressed with all facets of Belmont. The decor and the staff are amazing.
My mother and
I feel secure in the knowledge that he is in the best place for the care he currently needs, it is a great weight off of the mind.
Home from home.
The whole team at Belmont should be very proud, they make it a home. Nothing is too much trouble, their attention to detail, the care, the response to resident's needs is excellent,
There's always a smile and a warm welcome when we visit, everyone seems so happy and having seen some of the activities there I can see why.
My father is enjoying his stay at Belmont and is most complimentary about the staff and how they look after him. To me, that is a great endorsement.

Keep up the excellent work and thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Having worked at Belmont Castle 5 years ago, I knew it was a very good care home. Dignity, respect and choice for the resident is paramount and that ethos is instilled in everyone who works there. I was delighted to find the home was still run by the same manager and many of the staff, including admin,
cook, still worked there, so I knew my aunt would be very well looked after, with plenty to do as there are 2 activities staff to a very high standard. Belmont Castle is a beautiful building, many rooms having lovely views and there's a garden for the residents in the warmer months.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.724)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.724) out of 10 for Belmont Castle Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 17 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.799 for Belmont Castle Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (166 Excellents x 5) + (35 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 204 Ratings = 4.799
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.925 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Belmont Castle Care Home is based on 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.925
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8, which has been reached with 17 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
