Very happy with the care Mum is getting here. The staff are lovely and very patient and helpful during a very difficult job as I speak to some who are doing jigsaw puzzles. Looked at a few places before placing Mum here, no comparison, this place is streaks ahead in cleanliness and care in general. The cost is very high but Mum is worth it.

After one year we remain assured as we were on day one. We picked the best care facility in our area. The staff remain friendly, and knowledgable and provide quick feedback should there be any issues. Both parents enjoy the environment and importantly feel safe. Thank you.

Overall Experience

I would unreservedly recommend Pax Hill Elderly Mentally Frail Unity for the care of a loved elderly person. The warmth and community spirit are immediately evident, with residents encouraged to base themselves in the well-designed and attractive common area where they can socialise and choose to take part in activities. Loneliness is not an option, but privacy is always on offer too in the comfortable and well-appointed ensuite rooms. Staff are always patient and helpful, creating a calm, relaxed and supportive environment in which all care needs are fully addressed. I couldn't fault Mum's care, even when her needs escalated. She was a resident for thirteen months and we were always cheerfully welcomed on visits. Senior staff were very approachable, competent and supportive and regularly seen personally interacting with residents and supporting staff. The affection and respect that Mum was afforded were evident throughout her care, right up to her eventual passing when they adorned her bed with flowers. It sounds like a cliche, but staff treat the residents as family and it shows, we couldn't have made a better choice for Mum.

Lovely friendly care home - the staff are very caring and always activities on - especially designed for dementia with lots of colours and big windows for views across the glorious countryside. Cannot fault it! I am always made welcome and they keep me updated on Dad's care. So lucky to have found this gem - Dad is comfortable and happy and that is the main thing. Thoroughly recommend it!

Overall Experience

My mother-in-law was cared for in the Elderly Mentally Frail Unit at Pax Hill for several years, including the difficult time over lockdown. I am a health care professional myself and was always impressed with the knowledge and skills of the nursing staff, and the dedication, kindness and family atmosphere provided by the nurses and carers. The environment is respectful and supportive, residents are encouraged to take part in activities and to be as independent as they are able. Any queries we had were dealt with promptly and tactfully, and we were kept informed of any changes in her condition. The staff training is evident in the calm way they can diffuse the situation if a resident becomes upset or agitated. The food is excellent and snacks and drinks were always available. As a family, we were made very welcome and when my mother-in-law died, the staff even attended the funeral which was very moving for us - they really did care as though she was family. Cannot recommend enough.

My husband came initially for a four week trial. This has been extended for another four weeks and I am hoping that his stay will become permanent, as I am very happy indeed with his care, and he seems very contented. I find that the staff's communication and feedback is excellent, and I appreciate this.

We cannot praise the Pax Hill Elderly Mentally Frail Unit enough. In what has been a challenging year for care homes they facilitated safe visiting as much as possible, whilst keeping residents safe. They organise lots of activities and photographs which we can view. Our parents are well looked after and are very content with life. It is built on a foundation of love and respect.

I looked at a number of local care homes before choosing Pax Hill for my mother but once I had visited it was a very easy decision. The facility is purpose-built and so gives residents the benefit of space and modern facilities. The rooms are bright and comfortable with many enjoying exceptional views, the open-plan common area is spacious and airy allowing everyone to move around easily. The staff are lovely, caring and conscientious while treating everyone as an individual. There are various activities every day and residents can do as much or as little as they choose but the staff are always alert to anyone who needs something a bit different. All care homes seem hugely expensive but Pax Hill offers great value for money when compared to other care homes in the area.
