From admin, housekeeping, maintenance, kitchen, carers and management. Everyone has their role in looking after my mum and they have all become like extended family.
The food is excellent, all the organised activities are brilliant and go above and beyond my expectations, love being involved myself when I can.

We searched for a nice care home for my auntie and from the moment we walked through the door, we knew this was the place for her. Every member of staff greeted us and all the residents looked very happy. There was plenty going on and everywhere was spotless, modern and spacious. The room we chose looked out onto a beautiful garden. Auntie was not happy about leaving her own home but very soon she was talking about her future there and we saw a smile which we hadn't seen for a long time. It was a joy to see her happy. So much attention to detail here, even the chef visited her and asked about what she liked to eat as she was a vegetarian. She said for him not to make a fuss but true to his word he made her some lovely meals! The new manager there is lovely, she really is committed and dedicated to her job. Sadly auntie had a short time here and passed away peacefully Boxing Day after a lovely day. Thank you everyone for looking after her so well!

I visited a very dear friend yesterday at Wimborne Care Home at Hayling Island. She had had a very distressing few years ending with the death of her beloved husband in the Summer. She was in a very distressed and unhappy place during and after her husband's death. She was put in another care home on Hayling but did not adjust very well. She has only been in Wimborne for a matter of weeks and the transformation is amazing! She was happy and relaxed when I visited yesterday and said it was 'like home from home'. She has settled in wonderfully well, and feels loved and cared for! The food is excellent and she looks forward to her meals; she is cared for in every respect, hair, nails, clean clothes etc; and she enjoys the camaraderie of the other residents and the carers (whom she calls Angels!) as well as the outings in the minibus. I was made to feel very welcome too. I have visited many care homes in the course of my voluntary work over the years - Wimborne is simply the best!
Thank you so much for your review and kind words, we are so pleased to know that your friend has vastly improved in the short time since being with us at Wimborne. I will ensure your review is passed on to the team and I am happy to hear that you feel she is settled, well cared for and that Wimborne is the best!

We chose the Wimborne after looking at long-term care for our loved one. Having viewed several homes for people with dementia prior to Dad moving in. He thought he 'owned it'.
From his daily care, life, entertainment, health, he retained his dignity and self-respect. He kept his sense of humour, was encouraged to be himself. As a family, we saw him change as the dementia took hold but we could visit anytime. It became a second home to us.
This last year has been difficult as Dad neared the end of his life, we chose to let him stay at the Wimborne where the skilled team looked after him, kept him safe and 'loved' him, so when the sad time came, his extended were there 24/7. They took it in turns to keep him clean, talk to him, feed him, so his self-respect was honoured. The team went above and beyond whilst still caring for other service users.
Thank you for taking the time to submit a review and for your kind words, speaking on behalf of the whole team, it was an absolute honour to look after your dad, he was a huge character within the home and is missed by us all.
A very enjoyable experience, always in capable and safe hands. Thank you.

Hello, I’m Kelly Brown, General Manager of Wimborne. I started here in July 2026.
After I left school, I was a chef but was attracted to the family-friendly hours of the Care Sector when my eldest daughter was a baby.
I have been a GM for the last 16 years; my last role was in a small Independent Home, and it is a great pleasure to join and work with the team here at Wimborne.
Barchester has a strong reputation for providing excellent care, and Wimborne is a home with a uniqueness about it; whilst part of a large group, it retains its personality, the truly homely feel and with the backup of being a part of a prestigious and well-respected organisation.
In my spare time I’m a Mum to 3 beautiful young women, an animal lover, a gardener, keen cook and I love a stomp through the countryside with my wonderful husband.

I've long admired and recommended Wimborne - knowing it to be such a happy and sociable home, it is my honour and privilege to be working here now.

Wimborne is a very exceptional home; it needs to be visited so you can feel for yourself the warmth of our welcome. We as staff work together well, offering dedication and care for the safety, well-being and happiness of residents.
Wimborne is a home that becomes a Home easily; it is light and airy, full of smiles and individuals living, thriving with purposeful lives. I'd be proud to show you around and invite you to do so.

Hello, I am Doreen
I am delighted to have been invited to be the Ambassador for the Residents here at Wimborne.
I moved in December 2024, after an admission to Queen Alexander Hospital. I wasn't sure at first, but now I truly wouldn't go home; I just love it here. I am always happy to chat with visitors, and for those looking at Wimborne for their loved ones, I want to offer this reassurance: your loved ones are well looked after, and nothing is too much trouble for the staff. I am proud to show my room so that others can see how personalised it is and how comfortable and happy I am.We are a happy family here, welcoming, and we all get on.
I love that there is lot to do if you want to do it, and the food is out of this world!

Hi, my name is Hayden,
I joined Wimborne 4 years ago. Working in the kitchen in Wimborne is where I found my absolute passion for cooking.I have worked up to Head Chef, and I really enjoy getting to know our residents, their preferences and providing nutritious and completely delicious food.
I also greatly enjoy our weekly baking club, where I interact more with the residents. We host great parties and special events here at Wimborne, and I have these culinary challenges. I'm always keen to try new things and residents are happy to too.
I've asked our residents what their favourites of my cooking are for my profile, and they have said my Viennese whirls are pretty exceptional, as are my roasts and puddings!

Hi, I am Jilly,
I have been in care all my life; it has been my calling, and I am very proud to be one of the team of Senior Carers here.I enjoy being able to bring my years of experience at all levels of seniority, sharing my passion and knowledge to the great team here at Wimborne.
A true test of great care is whether you'd bring your parents; I would have no hesitation in entrusting the care of mine to the wonderful team here. The atmosphere here is just wonderful, and the staff are well-led and truly dedicated.
You will always hear me singing the old-time classics around the home, so if there is a favourite song you want to hear, I'm sure I will know it.

Hi, I am Michelle.
I have worked at Wimborne for over 10 years. I started in care 20 years ago, it worked whilst I had a young family, and I realised I'd found my niche. With Wimborne, I found a home where care was done so well and whilst here I have worked my way up to Team Leader, a role I am very proud to have.
I simply love interacting with all our residents, listening to their life stories and creating relationships with their wonderful families. It is great to be in an environment where we all get on together so well and there is so much respect.

Hi, I am Andreea,
I joined the happy Wimborne team in July 2025. It is a great place to work. It is unusual in care to have the opportunity to spend quality time with the people you are supporting. Wimborne is wonderful. Here I have got to know residents, learn their stories, chat about their lives and see how interesting and interested they are. It is a fantastic environment for us all to be in, very positive and being here is a real pleasure.

Hi, I am Lucy,
I started working at Wimborne in 2008 as part of the housekeeping team.
It was then that I decided I wanted to become a carer and worked hard to eventually become a Senior Carer.
I really enjoy providing person-centred care to our residents, meeting their family members and being part of a team that provides such love and compassion. I am always happy to go that extra mile for our residents.

I joined the wonderful Wimborne team in 2023. I have found everyone to be so friendly, both residents and staff. I love how each and every day I feel that I am helping, and that simply makes life better for us all.
I love it when residents love to swap stories, so that we can provide emotional support. I love to chat, and residents are just such good company. My work here is a pleasure, and I enjoy it.

I've always been in healthcare since my career started in the Philippines, but Wimborne really is special. We have the time to be really caring, our residents are individuals we can treasure, and the relationships mean so much. I love working with my team, and they tell me they love working with me too!

Hi, my name is Gary, and I am responsible for the maintenance of the home and also the gardens.
I love coming to work! I've previously worked in the grounds for the hospitality industry, but I have now been at Wimborne for over 8 years and get a great deal of job satisfaction working here. It is more of a passion than a job, and I am truly proud to work in our residents' home, keeping it looking wonderful.
I take residents out on trips, enjoy their involvement in selecting plants for the home, and even support them in some gardening and maintenance tasks.

I have a passion for cooking, love food and seeing the joy that my cooking brings, so I really love my work here at Wimborne.
Every day I enjoy my cheerful chats with residents, hearing about their day, sharing news and views, discussing the meals and menus, having appreciative feedback and being part of a brilliant team.Lasagna is one of my signature dishes, always goes down well, as does a traditional crumble!
Wimborne is just a great place to be.

Hello, my name is Kate, and I am the Administrator here at Wimborne Care Home.
I have been working here since March 2023. I thoroughly enjoy every aspect of my job, especially helping the residents and relatives on a daily basis.
It is also truly wonderful to work alongside such passionate and caring staff members. Every day is rewarding, and the family atmosphere here makes Wimborne a really great place to be.

Hi, I'm Rachael
I'm the 'hostess with the mostess'! I help residents with their enjoyment of life, from simple things like ensuring everything is ready for them at meal times to the important things like making sure the right thing happens at the right time in the right place. I know how everyone likes everything and has a keen eye for detail.
I get joy from making people happy, and here, both residents and staff are so kind, all do so appreciate the help, and it is wonderful to feel so valued by everyone.
My experience of working here at Wimborne has been just fantastic, so much so that I'm often in during my own time, and a personal highlight has been a Jive night recently, when I had the great pleasure of dancing with so many of our residents in a real 'night to remember'.

Hi, I'm Billy.I'm here for the Team - residents and staff, as well as being one of the wonderful Team!
I bring wags and smiles, I'm soft and gentle, keen as mustard with enthusiasm galore, but am calm and wise too.I can leap onto a lap or sit by someone's feet; I'm simply very adaptable.
I do bring Sharon, she can chat, but I find I create conversation on my own.
I started my love affair with Wimborne when I turned up for International Dog Day, and now I'm a monthly fixture at Doggie Cafe! We have a monthly gathering; I devote an hour to residents, then the community gather adoringly for an hour, and I make myself available. It's the best part of my month as a Pets as Therapy Dog!
Here I am helping Wimborne become, officially, Hayling's Most Dog-Friendly Care Home!

I enjoy everything about my work here at Wimborne.I enjoy all my interactions with residents, and I am so grateful to the older generation for all that they have done for me, to enable me to have my life.
I enjoy the chats when I deliver daily teas, coffees, drinks and the fresh homemade cakes and cookies. Its lovely to have the time to talk and to feel so appreciated.

Hi, I'm Keith
I really should have retired, but when you are happy at work, as I really am here at Wimborne, I know I'd really miss it!
I'm part-time time but every hour I'm here, I enjoy and knowing I make a difference for residents brings me joy. I love the variety, the staff and absolutely the residents. If I'm outside, they might be with me or giving me a wave from inside. It's a very happy place.

Hi, I'm Assumpta, and I love working at Wimborne. My brother is a Senior night carer here, and he recommended to me that I apply; I joined the team in 2023. Every day is different, and I love to make it special for residents.
Before my career in care, I worked in Nigeria as an Auxillary nurse. My 4 children are still there, but I enjoy our daily calls.
My husband and I are working and happy here; in my spare time I am a keen singer ( a chorister), love to cook and have a passion for reading, especially modern poetry.

I'm Victor, a Senior Night Carer here at Wimborne. I joined the team as a carer in 2023 and have been promoted. I'm studying for more care qualifications as this is really my calling. I am so delighted to have found this career.
Supporting our residents gives me such fulfilment and great pleasure; being able to help them brings me peace of mind, and I support and treat them in the way I'd want my loved ones looked after.
Outside of work, I love to play and watch football - I'm a keen Chelsea supporter! I also enjoy gospel music, singing and assisting the pastor at the Elim Church on Hayling where I am very active.

I am a Senior Carer, and I work nights here. It brings me such great joy when I know I have made a resident's day, shared discussions, helped their comfort and created positive experiences. It is fascinating learning from them and hearing their stories.
Outside of work, I enjoy go-karting with friends, karaoke, and I am a keen traveller - I especially enjoy Italy, Switzerland and France.
