Wimborne Care Home is a picturesque bungalow set back just off Mengham High Street, in a quiet residential area.

With a wonderful layout of two internal courtyard gardens, a beautiful conservatory where residents can sit and enjoy the peace and quiet.

Nutrition is a key part of health and well-being here at Wimborne, which means the home's Academy trained chefs work with all teams to ensure that every resident is catered for.
They only use the freshest ingredients and chefs take great pride in the responsibility of nutrition and enjoy serving their meals in the restaurant-style dining area for the whole home to relax in.

There is a busy and varied activities schedule, created by an award-winning Activities Co-ordinator, this includes group activities, along with one to one activities of each residents choosing, tailored to their individual request.

The café bistro is open to all, boasting delicious freshly made cakes .

My father went to Wimbourne for 2 weeks respite care. He had not been in a care home setting before and as he has dementia we were anxious as to how this would work for him. From the very first telephone contact, the staff were brilliant. They answered questions, explained the setting and care, putting
our minds at ease. My husband and I were then invited on a visit where time was taken to talk matters over with us. The 2-week respite went very well. Dad adjusted quickly and every effort was made to make him feel at home and cared for. An excellent experience for us all.

My father has been a resident at Barchester Wimborne Care Home since December 2019. He had previously stayed at the home for respite care. but asked to return there permanently.
The staff are professional, unfailingly kind, thoughtful and cheerful. Dad loves the food and joins in with the many activities
on offer. I know that he is safe and well cared for in a lovely setting.
Wimborne is a gem and I would highly recommend it.

All of the staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. The carers are attentive and always cheerful, nothing is too much trouble; they are happy to assist. I consider the level of care to be exceptionally high.

The most important aspect is the people. The staff at Barchester Wimborne Care Home genuinely care for the residents and they do an amazing job with the resources at their disposal. Our mum is well looked after, and the team keep us informed and contact us when needed. The great standard of care is
very evident in the staff because, we can see the care given to all residents, especially if you turn up at short notice. Mum is generally in good spirits and keeps well. We are very pleased with our decision to use Wimborne.

My father moved to Wimborne from Scotland after losing his wife.
Throughout his eight month stay, he has been looked after extremely well by all the staff. The home is well run and beautifully furnished. I can recommend the home in every way.

The care home was very welcoming to my husband and showed concern for me. Because of COVID restriction, I was not able to visit as much as we could have wished which made my husband (and me) unhappy. Any visits we could have were made as comfortable as possible by the very attentive staff. Thank you.

My mother has been a resident at Wimborne since July 2019. What stood out for us about this care home was its unique layout, with all rooms being on the ground floor, and being light and airy. There is a sense of freedom within a contained environment. The staff are all very professional, kind, helpful,
and welcoming, and Mum particularly enjoys helping with the plants and gardening, as she always used to do in her own home.
Mum recently celebrated her birthday here, and the staff made a special effort to organise a spectacular birthday cake and tea in the garden.
Wimborne introduced Skype calls to residents for relatives during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the activities co-ordinator was very efficient and helpful in organising these for us.
I know Mum is safe and being cared for in a very pleasant setting, and I'm glad we discovered Wimborne.

Our initial contact with the staff was extremely helpful - communication was excellent.
After her initial period of settling in, my cousin was very happy and enjoyed the food and mixing with other residents. The staff were always pleased to help in any way, with phone calls, etc. I am so happy for

My mother was cared for extremely well and the staff were very patient and understanding when she showed emotion and worry about her health and circumstances. Her final days in the home were second to none. The staff were a constant support to the patient and her family and her care was outstanding.

One of the most difficult choices to make is to find the right care home for your parent. From the initial phone call through to my first visit and making the decision that Wimborne would provide the most suitable care was a positive journey. Six months on my parents have received kindness, respect,

Mum is always clean and well dressed and she enjoys the interactions from all the staff when they walk by and call out to her. She especially enjoys music when they either have a visiting singer or the activity lady turns the tele off and plays music.

My wife suffers from dementia and has been in Wimborne Care Home for 16 months. I visit her every day and find she is being looked after with a caring and dedicated staff who treat her with great respect and dignity and I have nothing but praise for all of them who are doing a different and worthwhile
job. The gardens are kept in great order and her private room is always clean and warm. The food is of the highest quality and is always served in a friendly atmosphere. All in all, it is like one happy family.

The only element that I would suggest would be a locked cupboard for any valuables/purses and the staff and daughter keep a key. Other than that, this home is absolutely amazing and the staff are so very kind and caring to my mother.

My mum lived here for 9 months before she returned to Wales. The care she received was outstanding, she felt she was on holiday and said it was the loveliest place she had ever stayed and the staff were so lovely with her.
The activities staff are exceptional, they knew exactly what mum liked doing
and always went out of their way to make sure she was as occupied as possible. The food was outstanding and so well presented, the residents were treated like five star hotel guests.

Hi, my name is Sarah and I am very excited to be joining the team as the General Manager here at Wimborne Care Home.


I have worked within the care sector since 1991 and I am very passionate about my role and responsibilities. Right from the beginning, I knew that this was where I belonged.


My career began as a Care Assistant in a small independent residential home, and I worked my way up to Senior and then Deputy Manager. After spending 26 years in this one home, I decided it was time to spread my wings and was lucky enough to be offered a Deputy Manager position in a much larger residential home for a growing company. It was only a matter of weeks before I was promoted to General Manager and I devoted the next 15 months to improving the home and leading and developing the team.


I joined Barchester Healthcare Ltd in July 2018 as a General Manager and I really enjoyed getting to know the company, my home, my staff team, the residents and their families and friends. I spent just over two years in one home as the General Manager receiving an outstanding Kloe in Caring and good in the other four kloes in their CQC inspection before transferring to commission a new build in November 2020.


Whilst within the company I have also supported other homes in the absence of the General Manager and inducted and supported new build General Managers with the commissioning of their homes.


I have experience in turn-around projects and commissioning and over the years, I have completed an array of training and qualifications in Health and Social Care, and I continually look for ways I can improve my knowledge, skills and my own personal development.
I am very proud of everything I have achieved and I feel honoured to have spent my entire career doing what I love the most and feel that there is nothing more rewarding than going home at the end of the day knowing you have made a difference to a person’s life.


I am excited to be offered the position of General Manager and join the team at Wimborne and I aim to ensure, as a team, that we deliver a high standard of person-centred care to those we support, placing them at the heart of everything we do and meeting individual needs with the passion and commitment they deserve.

I have been in the care industry since I was 17 and have always loved the industry, I have gone from carer to senior carer to now head of housekeeping which I really enjoy. I love working at Wimborne and will forever feel my home from home.
