Wimborne Care Home is a picturesque bungalow set back just off Mengham High Street, in a quiet residential area.

With a wonderful layout of two internal courtyard gardens, a beautiful conservatory where residents can sit and enjoy the peace and quiet.

Nutrition is a key part of health and well-being at Wimborne, which means the home's Academy trained chefs work with all teams to ensure that every resident is catered for.
They only use the freshest ingredients and chefs take great pride in the responsibility of nutrition and enjoy serving their meals in the restaurant-style dining area for the whole home to relax in.

There is a busy and varied activities schedule, created by an award-winning Activities Co-ordinator, this includes group activities, along with one to one activities of each resident's choosing, tailored to their individual request.

The café bistro is open to all, boasting delicious freshly made cakes .

The staff are always helpful & friendly on the phone and in person. We have over an hours travel to the Wimborne care home and are always assured of a smiling welcome. The residents are usually engaged in activities and although our relative doesn't get too involved, they are happy & content to watch
television and occasionally interact with other residents. They also enjoy excursions in the mini bus and always praise the food provided.

During every visit to see my father all of the staff have been extremely friendly and helpful. There seem to be many activities organised to entertain the residents. The garden areas are lovely places to sit when the weather is fine.

Our dad has been a resident at Wimborne for over 2 years since our mum died. Dad has advanced dementia but is always treated with the utmost attentiveness and respect. He is 100 years old and is clearly very comfortable and content in the care home

I have been visiting a friend (age 93) who has recently become a resident at Wimborne. The staff are welcoming, the home very clean and comfortable. I have always found the carers and staff to be friendly and attentive to visitors and residents alike. Their passion and their care is constant. I find Barchester Wimborne Care Home staff very friendly and residents happy and well cared for, their rooms clean and comfortable and they have varied activities. I visit two residents and they have both said how good the meals are.

My mum has now spent just over a year at Barchester Wimborne Care Home. We as a family can not fault the care and support she receives from every single member of staff.
From admin, housekeeping, maintenance, kitchen, carers and management. Everyone has their role in looking after my mum and they
have all become like extended family.
The food is excellent, all the organised activities are brilliant and go above and beyond my expectations, love being involved myself when I can.
The home itself is always clean and well maintained. Thank you to the carers for the care they show my mum. I can't thank you all enough.

Mum received excellent care, she was respected and treated with great care and dignity during her final weeks.
All the Barchester Wimborne Care Home staff are fantastic and I would happily recommend the home.

We searched for a nice care home for my auntie and from the moment we walked through the door, we knew this was the place for her. Every member of staff greeted us and all the residents looked very happy. There was plenty going on and everywhere was spotless, modern and spacious. The room we chose
looked out onto a beautiful garden. Auntie was not happy about leaving her own home but very soon she was talking about her future there and we saw a smile which we hadn't seen for a long time. It was a joy to see her happy. So much attention to detail here, even the chef visited her and asked about what she liked to eat as she was a vegetarian. She said for him not to make a fuss but true to his word he made her some lovely meals! The new manager there is lovely, she really is committed and dedicated to her job. Sadly auntie had a short time here and passed away peacefully Boxing Day after a lovely day. Thank you everyone for looking after her so well!

I visited a very dear friend yesterday at Wimborne Care Home at Hayling Island. She had had a very distressing few years ending with the death of her beloved husband in the Summer. She was in a very distressed and unhappy place during and after her husband's death. She was put in another care home on
Hayling but did not adjust very well. She has only been in Wimborne for a matter of weeks and the transformation is amazing! She was happy and relaxed when I visited yesterday and said it was 'like home from home'. She has settled in wonderfully well, and feels loved and cared for! The food is excellent and she looks forward to her meals; she is cared for in every respect, hair, nails, clean clothes etc; and she enjoys the camaraderie of the other residents and the carers (whom she calls Angels!) as well as the outings in the minibus. I was made to feel very welcome too. I have visited many care homes in the course of my voluntary work over the years - Wimborne is simply the best!

My family has had the privilege of regularly visiting the Barchester Wimborne Care Home over the past two years. Our dad was a resident for two years.
We chose the Wimborne after looking at long-term care for our loved one. Having viewed several homes for people with dementia prior to Dad moving in.
He thought he 'owned it'.
From his daily care, life, entertainment, health, he retained his dignity and self-respect. He kept his sense of humour, was encouraged to be himself. As a family, we saw him change as the dementia took hold but we could visit anytime. It became a second home to us.
This last year has been difficult as Dad neared the end of his life, we chose to let him stay at the Wimborne where the skilled team looked after him, kept him safe and 'loved' him, so when the sad time came, his extended were there 24/7. They took it in turns to keep him clean, talk to him, feed him, so his self-respect was honoured. The team went above and beyond whilst still caring for other service users.

Hi, my name is Sarah, and I am delighted to be leading the team as the General Manager here at Wimborne Care Home.


I have worked within the care sector since 1991, and I am very passionate about my role and responsibilities. Right from the beginning, I knew that this was where I belonged.


My career began as a Care Assistant in a small independent residential home, and I worked my way up to Senior and then Deputy Manager. After spending 26 years in this one home, I decided it was time to spread my wings and was lucky enough to be offered a Deputy Manager position in a much larger residential home for a growing company. It was only a matter of weeks before I was promoted to General Manager, and I devoted the next 15 months to improving the home and leading and developing the team.


I joined Barchester Healthcare Ltd in July 2018 as a General Manager and I really enjoyed getting to know the company, my home, my staff team, the residents, their families and friends. I spent just over two years in one home as the General Manager, receiving an outstanding Kloe in Caring and Good in the other four kloes in their CQC inspection before transferring to commission a new build in November 2020.


Whilst within the company, I have also supported other homes in the absence of a General Manager and inducted and supported new build General Managers with the commissioning of their homes.


I have experience in turnaround projects and commissioning, and over the years, I have completed an array of training and qualifications in Health and Social Care, and I continually look for ways I can improve my knowledge, skills and my own personal development.

I moved in December 2024, after an admission to Queen Alexander Hospital. I wasn't sure at first, but now I truly wouldn't go home; I just love it here. I am always happy to chat with visitors, and for those looking at Wimborne for their loved ones, I want to offer this reassurance: your loved ones are well looked after, and nothing is too much trouble for the staff. I joined Wimborne 4 years ago. Working in the kitchen in Wimborne is where I found my absolute passion for cooking.
I have worked up to Head Chef, and I really enjoy getting to know our residents, their preferences and providing nutritious and completely delicious food.


I also greatly enjoy our weekly baking club, where I interact more with the residents. We host great parties and special events here at Wimborne, and I have these culinary challenges. I'm always keen to try new things and residents are happy to too.


I've asked our residents what their favourites of my cooking are for my profile, and they have said my Viennese whirls are pretty exceptional, as are my roasts and puddings!

I bring wags and smiles, I'm soft and gentle, keen as mustard with enthusiasm galore, but am calm and wise too.
I can leap onto a lap or sit by someone's feet; I'm simply very adaptable.


I do bring Sharon, she can chat, but I find I create conversation on my own.


I started my love affair with Wimborne when I turned up for International Dog Day, and now I'm a monthly fixture at Doggie Cafe! We have a monthly gathering; I devote an hour to residents, then the community gather adoringly for an hour, and I make myself available. It's the best part of my month as a Pets as Therapy Dog!


Here I am helping Wimborne become, officially, Hayling's Most Dog-Friendly Care Home!
