Wimborne Care Home is a picturesque bungalow set back just off Mengham High Street, in a quiet residential area.

With a wonderful layout of two internal courtyard gardens, a beautiful conservatory where residents can sit and enjoy the peace and quiet.

Nutrition is a key part of health and well-being at Wimborne, which means the home's Academy trained chefs work with all teams to ensure that every resident is catered for.
They only use the freshest ingredients and chefs take great pride in the responsibility of nutrition and enjoy serving their meals in the restaurant-style dining area for the whole home to relax in.

There is a busy and varied activities schedule, created by an award-winning Activities Co-ordinator, this includes group activities, along with one to one activities of each resident's choosing, tailored to their individual request.

The café bistro is open to all, boasting delicious freshly made cakes .

Most of the time I'm very happy here just sad at times as I can't do what I used to be able to. I find all the girls (staff) kind and helpful and caring! The food is very good and I enjoy my dinners although I don't want to eat much, my family and friends are always made welcome, and can eat with me
whenever they like. I like to sit at the window and watch the birds and listen to my music. I know if I want anything I just have to call one of the staff.

My Mother has lived here for 6 years and has been settled and happy in that time. The members of staff are warm and caring and her needs now exceed those normally expected from a residential care home. The staff have accommodated the changes in her condition following a seriously debilitating stroke
and in a number of serious illnesses. We are very pleased with the standard of care.

My mother-in-law has been a resident at Wimborne for 6 years. Regards it as her 'new' home. She is safe and very well cared for. Happy. Staff are cheerful and treat her with dignity at 98 years old, her care needs are challenging but the home have adapted to her changing condition very well.

My mother spent three years at Wimborne and was so happy. She called it "home" and it was her home. I myself came from Brighton and as much as it is a difficult journey I was never able to find a home on the same high standard of care. I myself run a house and am very impressed by the level of care
and all the carers and the care they give and how they are with residents. I highly recommend Wimborne.

My mother has been given every support and encouragement after a hip injury. The staff, from carers to cleaners are very kind to residents and welcoming to family and visitors. The chefs and kitchen staff are excellent. The meals and flexibility of available foods are extremely good.

I looked at several "Homes " before I came across Wimborne it ticked all the boxes and was the only home viewed by my mother that she was enthusiastic about. It was a huge step after living on her own for many years, it took a while to settle but she is now enjoying it. Wimborne has a homely feel to
it and is all on one level, the management and staff go out of their way to make it. The food is excellent and all cooked from fresh, there is also an activities programme throughout the week. The staff are always cheerful and friendly and nothing is too much trouble to make the residents comfortable.

Job Title: General Manager Joined: 2023

Hi, my name is Sarah, and I am delighted to be leading the team as the General Manager here at Wimborne Care Home.


I have worked within the care sector since 1991, and I am very passionate about my role and responsibilities. Right from the beginning, I knew that this was where I belonged.


My career began as a Care Assistant in a small independent residential home, and I worked my way up to Senior and then Deputy Manager. After spending 26 years in this one home, I decided it was time to spread my wings and was lucky enough to be offered a Deputy Manager position in a much larger residential home for a growing company. It was only a matter of weeks before I was promoted to General Manager, and I devoted the next 15 months to improving the home and leading and developing the team.


I joined Barchester Healthcare Ltd in July 2018 as a General Manager and I really enjoyed getting to know the company, my home, my staff team, the residents, their families and friends. I spent just over two years in one home as the General Manager, receiving an outstanding Kloe in Caring and Good in the other four kloes in their CQC inspection before transferring to commission a new build in November 2020.


Whilst within the company, I have also supported other homes in the absence of a General Manager and inducted and supported new build General Managers with the commissioning of their homes.


I have experience in turnaround projects and commissioning, and over the years, I have completed an array of training and qualifications in Health and Social Care, and I continually look for ways I can improve my knowledge, skills and my own personal development.


I am very proud of everything I have achieved, and I feel honoured to have spent my entire career doing what I love the most. I feel that there is nothing more rewarding than going home at the end of the day knowing you have made a difference to an individual's life.


With the team at Wimborne, I aim to ensure that we deliver a high standard of person-centred care to those we support, placing them at the heart of everything we do and meeting individual needs with the passion and commitment they deserve.

I joined Wimborne 4 years ago. Working in the kitchen in Wimborne is where I found my absolute passion for cooking.
I have worked up to Head Chef, and I really enjoy getting to know our residents, their preferences and providing nutritious and completely delicious food.


I also greatly enjoy our weekly baking club, where I interact more with the residents. We host great parties and special events here at Wimborne, and I have these culinary challenges. I'm always keen to try new things and residents are happy to too.


I've asked our residents what their favourites of my cooking are for my profile, and they have said my Viennese whirls are pretty exceptional, as are my roasts and puddings!

Hi, I'm Billy.
I'm here for the Team - residents and staff, as well as being one of the wonderful Team!


I bring wags and smiles, I'm soft and gentle, keen as mustard with enthusiasm galore, but am calm and wise too.
I can leap onto a lap or sit by someone's feet; I'm simply very adaptable.


I do bring Sharon, she can chat, but I find I create conversation on my own.


I started my love affair with Wimborne when I turned up for International Dog Day, and now I'm a monthly fixture at Doggie Cafe! We have a monthly gathering; I devote an hour to residents, then the community gather adoringly for an hour, and I make myself available. It's the best part of my month as a Pets as Therapy Dog!


Here I am helping Wimborne become, officially, Hayling's Most Dog-Friendly Care Home!

I have gone from carer to Senior Carer to now Head of Housekeeping, which I really enjoy as I am very proud of maintaining the highest of standards. I love working at Wimborne and will forever feel this is my home from home.

I enjoy everything about my work here at Wimborne.
I enjoy all my interactions with residents, and I am so grateful to the older generation for all that they have done for me, to enable me to have my life.


I enjoy the chats when I deliver daily teas, coffees, drinks and the fresh homemade cakes and cookies. Its lovely to have the time to talk and to feel so appreciated.

I really should have retired, but when you are happy at work, as I really am here at Wimborne, I know I'd really miss it!


I'm part-time time but every hour I'm here, I enjoy and knowing I make a difference for residents brings me joy. I love the variety, the staff and absolutely the residents. If I'm outside, they might be with me or giving me a wave from inside. It's a very happy place.
