The care at St Anthonys is exceptional, my friend (who has mild dementia) feels truly at home thanks to the warm environment and attentive staff. The recent coffee morning was a stand out success, we enjoyed great company, delicious treats, and an exciting raffle with generous prizes, it is wonderful
to see the team organise such engaging events that brings everyone together.

Over last year I visited many care home with plentiful facilities, en suite bedrooms, many large lounges, cinema, coffee bars and cakes and an army of carers. So when I first visited St Anthonys I was disappointed to find none of the above. How wrong I was, St Anthonys is like a second family, and mum
could not be happier. We know the carers and managers well and they do an amazing job of really caring. They go the extra mile. I live abroad so they regularly send me photos and videos. Mum really enjoys the food, the type she is used to. And I am so glad that we did not choose one of the large modern homes where she probably would have been anonymous.
Reply from Beth Kahuri, Manager at St Anthony'sHi,

Thank you, for your comments. It shows how much you appreciate your mum being here at St. Antony Residential Home.

I was hesitant about mum having to go into a home, but I needn't have worried, she has been here for several months now and when I visit her she seems very happy. Mum likes the food and the staff. I myself think that the staff and management do a wonderful job, they are very caring, friendly and treat
the residents and visiting family with kindness and respect. The home itself isn't a modern property but it is very homely and clean with very good facilities and activities. Overall I am glad that I chose this care home over more larger home where I don't think mum would be happy.

Mum has been here for about 4 years now. She is severely disabled (unlike others there) yet this is no problem for the St A's team. They always treat me with friendly professionalism and Mum with a smile and chirpy can-do attitude. I've no insight into food or facilities.
Mum's room has just been tastefully
refurbished/redecorated which was unilateral on St A's part.
Value for money is in my estimation very good.
They seem to always be on top of the slightest health issues and managed covid exceptionally well with strict protocols - some staff actually lived in to accommodate.
Reply from Veronica Vorobet, Deputy Manager at St Anthony'sThank you for taking the time to share such a detailed and positive review. It's truly heartwarming to hear that you feel supported by our team and that we've been able to provide your mum with the care and attention she deserves over the past four years. We're especially glad to know that our team's friendly and proactive approach has made a difference for you and your mum. Your kind words about the refurbishment and our handling of health protocols, especially during Covid, mean a great deal to us. Maintaining a safe and welcoming environment is always a top priority.

My experience generally is very good. The home seems very clean and tidy and I like the effort the staff put in for particular events like Halloween etc. Despite a difficult start, I believe my mother has had care and support since she has been at St Anthony's. I feel my mother is also safe and secure
and is being looked after which is our main priority. Possibly a little more feedback about how my mother is on a day to day basis, what she is eating? How much of her meals is she eating? Is she participating in any of the activities? Is she being encouraged to do so? What are her sleep patterns like? A little feedback would be very welcome.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.768)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.768) out of 10 for St Anthony's is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 23 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.768 for St Anthony's is calculated as follows: ( (208 Excellents x 5) + (56 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 267 Ratings = 4.768
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for St Anthony's is based on 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 22 registered maximum number of service users is 4.4, which has been reached with 23 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
