Halcyon Days

I visit my aunt fairly regularly and I always find the staff very polite and helpful. Having not eaten I could not say what the food was like, but my aunt tells me the food is ok. I did take something to her room once and it seemed quite reasonable and comfortable. My wife was in a similar care home and I know that although the Victorian buildings are suitable they can be difficult to maintain. On the whole, I think you all do a fantastic job.

My husband was taken ill once again recently but this was quickly identified and monitored and action was taken in accordance with our wishes for him to be looked after in the home rather than sent to the hospital. All the staff are very caring and do their best to keep the residents happy and comfortable and monitor them constantly and make sure they keep well hydrated. The management is always approachable and available to talk over any concerns we have and receptive to suggestions. I and the family are very happy with the care my husband is receiving, it is a bonus to have lovely surroundings and to be able to sit outside in the garden when the weather permits. I would also like to say how kind the carers are to me and the family when we visit, making sure that we are looked after as well, there is always a cup of tea waiting!

Nan is quite settled until we arrive! The carers are very good with her, she has regained lost weight and they calm her down when she is upset. I’m content that she is well looked after and she has kind friends around her, even though they sadly struggle to recall each other's names.

My dad is currently residing at Halcyon Days on respite care. Which we are hoping/expecting to become permanent. Dad has gone from being unsafe and scared at home, neglecting himself and being very sad and lonely to being happy, taking care of himself. The staff genuinely care care for the residents and I see them interacting with empathy and compassion with residents. The environment is clean and always smells fresh. the grounds are stunning. As a family, we no longer have the constant worry.

I also must congratulate and thank all the staff for doing something which to me was over and above their duties, it was mine and my husband's wedding anniversary of fifty-five years and when I went to visit him on that day there was a card which had been written by him with the help of the carers and a wonderful bouquet of flowers, I was truly touched and my husband looked so chuffed. I thank you all for the care you not only give to him but to all the residents, many thanks.

Seems well organised, and he seems well and happy.

The resident has only been here a couple of days, but from what I've seen has settled in very well, and the staff are always about to help.

The staff seem very friendly and pleasant.

Only bad this was some leftover hair on the floor from a haircut.

Very welcoming! Was met with very friendly caring staff. Lovely environment and all the clients seem well cared for and encouraged to mix with other residents and not left in isolation. Staff obviously trying to cater for all the individual needs and its heartening to know that ones relative is in such good hands.

Mum is always saying the food is lovely and residents are fed extremely well. Mum always eats all of her food that is served up for her. Good choices.

The staff are very helpful and friendly and are always happy to answer any questions. Mum is always saying how lovely the food is. Management also keep me informed when Mum has an appointment coming up.

Mother is finding it difficult to settle into the care home environment. The staff are all very kind and supportive towards her and are doing their best to help her settle.

They always contact us if there are any problems with Dad. They are happy to discuss Dad's needs and care requirements.

My father in law is very well cared for and is happy within this well run home. This is one of the first times I've visited and his needs are brilliantly catered for.

My mum stayed at Halcyon Days after respite. I was very apprehensive at first but my mum settled very well. She always seemed happy and relaxed. The staff soon realised my mum's trigger points and very quickly adapted to her ways. My mum's allowed to be herself and continues to do what makes her happy but she is kept safe. The food smells lovely and what I have seen, looks lovely. The entertainment is amazing. Everyone seems so friendly and I cannot wait till all restrictions are over, so we can sit in the home at times. I cannot praise this home enough. I definitely feel so much more relaxed and at ease with my mum being looked after there. All my concerns have definitely been put out of my mind. My mum is happy and safe

My husband was admitted on the 1st April 2020 after two weeks of respite care. In the difficult lockdown year he has been well looked after, especially after two sessions in the hospital. He was nursed back to health at Halcyon Days and I had repeated reassurances that he would recover. I would love to see his room and hope to do so in the near future. I am grateful for the kindness of all the staff.
