Very friendly and welcoming. Make you feel relaxed and the atmosphere is good. Very conducive to asking questions and giving advice in difficult circumstances. All staff are very respectful of residents and utmost care is given. Help is always given to residents and also families.

Have travelled from Essex to Hemel Hempstead to visit a lifelong friend on several occasions. Always given a warm welcome with tea and biscuits being provided. Staff are always caring and friendly. Home is very cheerful and kept in a good condition. Get a very good feeling with this home and would definitely

Have been visiting a friend for a number of months now and the home always provides a warm welcome. There is always a cheerful atmosphere and everywhere is bright and spotlessly clean. Recently my friend celebrated a special birthday and friends and family were made very welcome with tea and biscuits
being provided. One of the lounges had been set aside for the occasion and decorated with balloons, bunting and photos. This made a very enjoyable day for my friend.

On my visit, my friend seemed very well looked after and happy. The staff were friendly and helpful. All the rooms, corridors etc were clean and nicely furnished. I was impressed by the whole place and experience.

On our latest visit to see my wife's father, the staff were keen to tell us how he was but also ask if my wife needed any further information. They seem to care about how she is coping with her father having dementia and is in a home. The Lodge is keen to keep us informed of how he is progressing. We

The type of dementia my Dad has makes it very hard for him to communicate. The staff are really kind and thoughtful and help him get what he needs. The home is clean and well looked after. I am happy my Dad is being so well looked after.

The home is spotlessly clean, airy with lovely gardens. Food is excellent and all the staff are so caring and nice. The resident's rooms are clean and comfortable and I know my dad is being looked after well.

Friendly welcoming atmosphere. Care staff all very caring and helpful. Good choice of food with individual tastes catered for. The manager was very efficient eg. arranging delivery of aids for the home in preparation for discharge. The lounge set aside for step down clients worked very well although
a quiet room away from the TV would have been useful, also for professional visitors to report client confidentially.

Thank you to all the staff for caring for my Nan. You did a better job than we could have ever done. We all know she wasn't the 'jollyest' but you made her all welcome and you weren't strict so that she could trust you when no visitors were there for her. I just want to say 'thank you'. No one could
have done a better job than you. Again, if I could, I would recommend everyone to go there.

We have found the home to give excellent care to our friend. The staff are very friendly and nothing seems to be too much trouble. The home is well maintained and her room is very light and modern. It always seems very clean. We are pleased that our friend is being so well looked after.

My mother was at The Lodge for 2 1/2 years, the staff were absolutely amazing. They gave my mum superb care and affection. I would recommend the home to all.


Mum was loved by many at the home and their upset showed how much they cared. I couldn't have asked for more.

Choosing a care home for a relative can be a daunting task but the moment I encountered The Lodge and B&M Care, I felt confident and relaxed. Having used B&M Care on two previous occasions for other relatives, I have always found their service, staff and facilities to be excellent.

Dad is always clean, shaved and happy when we see him. His clothing is always clean and tidy and he has his hair and nails cut regularly. He is always complimentary of the staff at The Lodge. He enjoys the food and having a choice of menu each day. The care he receives at The Lodge is excellent. Staff,
although busy, always have time for the residents. Nothing is too much bother for them when helping residents and their families. We are so glad that Dad is so well cared for as it means so much to us as we live such a long way away.

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2014

My career within care started in 1989 when I have appointed the role of Care Assistant in a care home setting close to Potters Bar, Hertfordshire – an opportunity that led to my promotion to Assistant Manager in 1993. 1999 was a landmark in my category, one that saw my progress on to become Acting Home Manager, before being appointed a registered Home Manager in 2004. With a great number of years of experience, I felt confident enough to apply for the same role at The Lodge in 2014 – one that to date inspired me with a continual learning curve, and better fulfilled my passion for delivering person-specific residential and specialist dementia care.
