I have been impressed with the way that the home has dealt with my mother, particularly in view of the Covid19 virus. It is a very difficult time for all, but the staff have been very helpful and understanding in all matters.
Reply from Sym Jaj, Senior Marketing Executive at Queensway HouseThank you for your kind review. It's lovely to hear that you feel so positive about the level of care we provide your mother. Some members of staff are professional and dedicated, however, others are poorly trained to carry out their duties. The standard of care has improved following the raising of concerns about my mother-in-law's care, but it should not have been necessary to raise these concerns. We would like to thank
those members of staff who have gone out of their way to provide good care.

My husband stayed for his first week respite. He has Alzheimer's and was quite upset but all the staff were brilliant with him and after a day there he was giving them a hug. Can't thank you all enough for your help and kindness. Hopefully, he will be able to come here again. Love and thanks from all
the family.

Since giving a review a few weeks after my husband was admitted I have had time to view the home in action. I am hugely impressed with the warmth and care given by the staff and the real family atmosphere. Activities are now very much in evidence and generally there's a happiness about the place. I
know only too well that my husband's behaviour can be challenging, but it gives me great peace of mind to see him connect with his carers and respond to their patience and encouragement.

My dad came here with much trepidation - all unnecessary of course. The care he has received is second to none, the staff are cheerful and willing to help with whatever we needed. The home itself is fresh, clean and the atmosphere is very homely. Dad has an excellent room with his own en-suite and although
he has dementia the staff all talk to him normally.

I have been here for 3 weeks after 3 weeks in hospital as I cannot walk after fracturing my leg. I have found the staff here wonderful, helpful, kind, caring, go out of their way to assist in everything. It has restored my faith in care homes and how elderly people should be treated and cared for. The
staff are always smiling and very attentive to whatever each different individual needs are.

Always find a happy environment. All staff and carers are always helpful. My mother is happy and enjoying her stay. Is involved with activities and takes part in the trips outside the care home which although she cannot remember she looks forward to very much.
She doesn't always have her support tights
on for her swollen ankles which I am concerned about as her footwear is only her slippers.

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.244)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.244) out of 10 for Queensway House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.2 out of 5 from 29 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 24 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.244 for Queensway House is calculated as follows: ( (214 Excellents x 5) + (62 Goods x 4) + (22 Satisfactorys x 3) + (17 Poors x 2) + (25 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 340 Ratings = 4.244
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Queensway House is based on 24 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 80 registered maximum number of service users is 16, which has been reached with 24 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
