We came this afternoon to drop off equipment, clothes, and toiletries for my Mother-in-law who would be transferred from a 3-week stay in hospital to have an assessment time in Queensway House for what her needs are and what care can be offered. All the staff were kind, friendly and of the utmost efficiency.
We were treated with absolute care and respect, which clearly showed us how well my ailing mother-in-law will be treated while she stays at Queensway House.
Everything we saw during our short visit assured us completely that this was the best place for her and this was confirmed when my mother-in-law called to say that she was happy and had moved in safely.

My friend came here straight from hospital to be assessed. She is now in residential care. She has been treated with care and respect. I am unable to visit more than once a week so I speak to staff and my friend regularly to check on how things are. Staff (carers, office, managers, nurses) are all knowledgable
and keep me informed. My friend was settled well and now started to integrate with the residents and use the facilities i.e hairdresser. Thank you.

My friend has been in this care home for several months now. The staff work hard, are friendly and caring and they talk kindly to residents and show every interest in their well being. The nurses, carers and administration staff listen to any concerns family or friends may have and explain the situation
or act if required. The environment is clean and tidy and the rooms well equipped and comfortable. There is stimulation for residents. The bottom line is 'would I be happy to be a resident here?'. My answer is that I would.
Reply from Sassie Mitrova, Home Manager at Queensway HouseThank you for your lovely response to our care home. We shall let the staff know about your positive feedback on their hard work. Best wishes

When Grandma moved from a different care home to Queensway house, her face lit up when she saw new and some familiar faces. The staff included her in all the activities and meals whilst transferring all paperwork over. Grandma is safer here and enjoys everything that is going on a lot more.

Talking specifically about a certain member of staff in particular, she is always friendly, includes all residents (capable), and has lots of varied activities for the residents to participate in. She is patient, kind, and always thinking of new ideas for the residents!

Avoid at all costs. Home is like a prison, bells ringing not answered, even emergency bells, people wearing other residents' clothes, and people left in bed all day. From what I saw no showers were being given. Care staff walking around on their phones. Needs major improvement. Also, the food was dreadful.

My father moved in end of July. On our 3rd safeguarding already.
Too many incidents to list down to lack of due diligence and a lack of care and attention to detail.
No accountability and a lack of transparency from staff.
Actively seeking to move him as soon as possible.
Reply from Chante Woodley, Marketing Coordinator at Queensway HouseThank you for taking the time to give us your feedback. We are very sorry to hear that your father had a negative experience, whilst staying at Queensway House. We continuously strive to provide outstanding care and ensure that all our residents live in a safe and secure environment. We have already taken the necessary steps to address the points you have raised. As per normal my visit was greeted by a friendly member of staff. New entry procedures were explained fully, so I wasn't left in any bewilderment. Certain codes are set in place to prevent unauthorized entry, and of course when leaving, the same applies. Not once have I felt concerned when receiving
answers to any questions put forward. My mother is relatively happy here at Queensway House. She can be quite "picky" but staff here have been professionally trained to deal with these idiosyncratic traits. I must add that any concerns staff have are reported to my mother's health professional, and, me.
Reply from Chante Woodley, Marketing Coordinator at Queensway HouseThank you for sharing your thoughts! Having been in hospital for several weeks, my mum went into Queensway House for some respite care. Her stay at the home was very beneficial, as although she was medically fit on leaving hospital, she needed some time before she was safely able to return to her home. Queensway House provided the perfect
setting to complete her rehabilitation. Mum's stay lasted two weeks, and during that time my family and I could see how she improved. I was grateful too for the peace of mind knowing that Mum was being well looked after.

Since my mothers passing, the staff have been very empathetic towards my father who has adapted much better than I could have hoped for and this is down to the whole team.
Following a recent management change it has become obvious to me that improvements in all aspects of the home have been put in
place which have had a very positive response from my father and I would expect this to continue.
In my experience any issues I raise are dealt with promptly and nothing is ever an issue.

The home manager has transformed this home. My mother has had fantastic care and could not be happier. On my mum and dad’s wedding anniversary, the manager and the team at Queensway House Care Home arranged a special event for them and really made their day special. The personal attention to detail
side that has been demonstrated along with great care sets Queensway House apart. I cannot recommend highly enough.

We moved Dad into Queensway after a hospital stay, after he had spent nearly 3 years in another home. Without having had anything to compare to the previous home, we had just assumed it would be more of the same, but we knew they had more nursing abilities at Queensway which is what attracted us to
it. We couldn’t have been more wrong, it’s hard to quantify but the atmosphere at Queensway is completely different - it is bright and energetic and just much, much more friendly. The standard of care is fantastic, and the Manager, obviously genuinely cares. It’s a very hard time for any family seeing a relative slowly decline with dementia, but we feel that the staff at Queensway are there with us.
Reply from Chante Woodley, Marketing Coordinator at Queensway HouseAll our staff at Queensway House thank you for such a heart-warming review! We moved my father because there were lots of staff leaving his last care home and we weren’t happy with the care at his last home. The care for Dad is night and day. We couldn’t be happier. Everyone is so welcoming, kind and caring. With a man with dementia we didn’t make this move lightly. It was
a hard, but definitely the best move. I will be recommending the home to anyone who will listen.

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.244)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.244) out of 10 for Queensway House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.2 out of 5 from 29 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 24 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.244 for Queensway House is calculated as follows: ( (214 Excellents x 5) + (62 Goods x 4) + (22 Satisfactorys x 3) + (17 Poors x 2) + (25 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 340 Ratings = 4.244
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Queensway House is based on 24 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 80 registered maximum number of service users is 16, which has been reached with 24 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
