Vesta Lodge has a Review Score of 9.6 (9.595) out of 10, based on 16 reviews in the last 2 years.
Over all time Vesta Lodge has 68 reviews.
Margaret and Caroline do a fantastic job in the senior team although I believe they need an extra pair of hands as they are always rushed off their feet. I don't have so much to do with other seniors so can't comment on them.
The carer Katalina is absolutely amazing. She constantly works really hard and spends time with the residents which is so important for them. I hope she is recognised for this outstanding service.
Last but not least Amelia and Rich on reception who always welcome you with a smile, Pavla who gives the best hugs ever & not forgetting all the people who work behind the scenes.
Your work is skilled and hugely underpaid.
Thank you to you all
Thank you for your review of Vesta Lodge and your kind words about the staff in the home; they really do go the extra mile for the residents and their families. Your review will mean a great deal to them.
I am impressed by the friendly staff, always willing to assist. My friend is happy and cheerful, clean and very well looked after and safe! She enjoys the activities, the food and the company. I was very impressed by the menu and standard of food offered to the residents. Excellent choise and quality. I would highly recomment this home.
Thank you for your kind review and for your recommendation. We are delighted to hear that your friend is enjoying life at our home. Your review will mean a great deal to the staff in the home and particularly to the chef. Thank you again.
Mum stayed at Vesta Lodge for respite care and has had a really positive experience. The staff were kind, attentive and made her feel comfortable from the start. The home was clean, welcoming and well organised. It gave us real peace of mind knowing she was in safe hands. We'd definitely recommend Vesta Lodge to others.
Thank you for your lovely feedback about Vesta Lodge. Were so pleased to hear your mum had such a positive respite stay and felt comfortable and well supported throughout her time with us. Its wonderful to know the care, environment and reassurance provided gave your family peace of mind. Your recommendation means a great deal to everyone at the home.
What a great place to be. I would recommend Vesta Lodge to anyone who needs any kind of care.
Thank you so much for your kind recommendation. We are delighted to hear such positive feedback about Vesta Lodge. Our team works hard to provide high-quality, compassionate care, so it means a great deal to know you would recommend us to others. Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience.
At all levels, from management to the care staff, there is a wealth of experience & knowledge relating to care for the older person. No request is too difficult & I feel reassured that my mum is in safe hands.
Thank you so much for your kind review of Vesta Lodge. We're so pleased that you and your mother are happy with the home and the care that is being provided there. Reviews like this one mean a great deal to the staff in the home.
The staff are so friendly and professional and take such good care of my Mom. The food she gets and the events that are organised are brilliant and she often comments on them. The home is so clean and tidy. It really is home from home for my Mom and I appreciate everything that gets done for her. She has an amazing room which we have decorated with memorabilia and she has a lovely en-suite bathroom. There is also a new permanent Manager who is fantastic and so involved and you can feel such a calm over residents and staff since he arrived. Thank you all.
Thank you so much for your lovely feedback. We're thrilled to hear that your mum feels so at home, enjoying the food, activities and her beautifully personalised room. It's especially wonderful to know you've felt the positive impact of our new Manager and the calm, supportive atmosphere within the...
My mother is generally happy in the home but has experienced a couple of unfortunate circumstances where other patients have wandered into her room at night and scared her, raising her anxiety levels.
Her main complaint is the lack of activities. When she first moved into the home there was an activity every day such as playing bingo or snakes and ladders or skittles. However, in the last few months she says this has changed and there is only the odd day where there is a half hour activity. On more than one occasion she has just been given a word search paper to complete as an activity.
When she first moved into the home we were also told that there were regular outside trips organised but this hasn't been the case.
Thank you for your feedback and for your kind comments about our team. Were sorry to hear about your mothers recent experiences and understand your concerns regarding both night-time disturbances and activities. Our Home Manager has been in touch with you to discuss these matters directly, and we will continue working closely with you to ensure your mother feels safe, supported and engaged.
I cannot express how happy we are since we found the Vesta Lodge care Home. Starting with the Home manager Ivan and all the staff, they are truly professional and uphold high standards care.
I highly recommend anyone who cares about their loved one to visit this Care Home, and you'll see how amazing the home is.
Thank you very much Vesta Lodge Team!
Thank you so much for your kind review. We're truly delighted to hear that your dad has settled in well and is feeling happier, more relaxed and energised since moving to Vesta Lodge. It means a great deal to the whole team to know that the care, activities and support they provide are making a positive difference. Thank you again for your review.
My dad has recently moved into Vesta Lodge from extra care housing. Dad had been struggling with his dementia symptoms living in extra care housing and needs more help which is what brought us to Vesta Lodge.
I can't speak highly enough about Vesta Lodge. When dad moved in, we visited him after he had been there for just a couple of days and he looked relaxed, happy and brighter than he had done in a long time. I could tell that he has now started sleeping much better, his face has more colour in it and he looks far more energised than he did before. We visit him regularly and every time we go, dad is happy and in a cheerful mood.
Dad enjoys the activities and the company of the other residents and carers. The care staff are so kind. There are enough carers for the number of residents.
Thank you so much to Ivan the Care Home Manager and the whole team for all of their kindness and care for dad

Mum was at Vesta Lodge in St. Albans for almost three years with Dementia in the Willow area. I was very happy with her care. She always had a smile on her face which says something about mum but also about the care she received. It's not easy to place a loved one into a care home but the staff were wonderful. When she passed you could tell the affection they had for her. Thank you Vesta.
Thank you for your kind feedback. We're pleased to hear that your mum was happy and well cared for during her time at Vesta Lodge, and your comments about our team mean a great deal to us. We know how difficult it is to place a loved one into care, and we're grateful for the trust you placed in...
Vesta Lodge enjoys a splendid reputation in St Albans; long may that continue. There is a dedicated staff and on my regular visitors they are welcoming and courteous. Above all it is a safe haven for the residents.
Thank you so much for your kind words about Vesta Lodge. We're delighted to hear that you've found our team to be welcoming and courteous on your visits. Providing a safe and supportive environment for our residents is always our top priority, and it's wonderful to know this is reflected in your experience. Thank you again.
My mum was in Vesta Lodge since 2017. Peaceful place, caring team, many staff would go extra mile to care for residents. This is what sets Vesta Lodge different from other care homes. Brilliant care was given to my mum till her last breath by bunch of loving people. I would highly recommend Vesta Lodge.
Thank you so much for your lovely words and for recommending Vesta Lodge. It means a great deal to us to know that your mum was cared for with love and compassion right through to her final days. We're proud of our dedicated team, and your kind recognition of the care they provide will mean so much to them.
This is the sixth time my husband has been in respite in five different care homes. Vesta Lodge so far has been the best one on every level. It is bright and inviting, spotlessly clean, and his absolutely no smell of stale urine like other homes. The staff are fantastic, friendly and very caring. I just cannot fault this home in any way.
We're delighted that you had a wonderful experience at Vesta Lodge. It's incredibly rewarding to know that our efforts to create a warm and welcoming environment for our residents are being appreciated.
We recently enjoyed a lovely Dinner Party, arranged for residents and their families, prepared by the catering team. It was a fun evening, and the staff had gone to a lot of trouble to decorate the room and ensure everyone had a great time.
It warms our hearts to receive such positive feedback! We strive to create a supportive and enriching environment where our residents can thrive.
The home manager and her team are absolutely amazing at what they do, deliver amazing care and make everyone feel welcome. My mum initially came to Vesta Lodge for 2 weeks respite and it was decided it's in her best interests to stay permanently as she needs more care than can be provided at home. Mum attends the Q club daily and as a result she's a lot brighter and talkative when anyone visits her. If you are looking for a caring place to put a loved one for a short stay or a more permanent take a look around you will not be disappointed.
We truly appreciate your positive feedback! Our dedicated team works tirelessly to ensure that every resident receives the highest quality of care and attention.
She sadly passed away recently (very peacefully) and the manager and the staff have been very supportive.
With the care industry in such a precarious position it is good to know that Vesta Lodge is here to look after those in our society who cannot fend for themselves and that their work continues to benefit families such as ours.
Your words mean everything to us! Providing compassionate care to each of our loved ones and their families is at the core of what we do. Your mother will be dearly missed.
Our Dad, who has Dementia, moved into Vesta Lodge St Albans at the start of February 2024. My family and I have been very happy with the care and support received during a stressful time. The care home manager in particular was extremely supportive and understanding for us, which helped us through the initial stages of transitioning Dad into full-time care. The rooms, are well equipped and are bright and airy. The cleanliness is very good and the team make a big effort to get to know Dad and us as a family. My Mum is now able to sit and talk with Dad, and he is now responding positively back to her, something which was a challenge prior. Dad is kept clean and tidy, and the care provided is professional. We would highly recommend Vesta Lodge.
Thank you for taking the time to share your positive experience with us! Hearing that our home has made a positive impact on your Dad means the world to us!
The food was clearly homemade, a good variety and very tasty (I had to try it when assisting Mum!)
Vesta Lodge was always clean and decorated according to the season. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it!
Thank you so much for your kind words! Providing exceptional care and support to our residents and families is our top priority, and we're thrilled to hear that you had a positive experience with us. Have a great day!
There is always a kind and friendly welcome for us from the care home manager. The atmosphere is relaxed and easy, and the staff are welcoming and helpful. The dining room and seating areas are attractive and bright. The menu varied and looked tasty.
My mother has stayed in some attractive rooms overlooking trees and with the sound of children playing in the school nearby.
The staff will keep me informed of any significant events and facilitate daily phone calls for Mum as she is unable to use a mobile. They will manage most issues, and this gives us a break, which is a real help to then be able to continue to support and care for my mother at home. Thanks also to the adult care services.
Thank you for your comment. Vesta Lodge is always delighted to have your Mother stay with us. Wishing you a wonderful day!
Everything is quite satisfactory, apart from the cleanliness of the individual room, we have to wipe down the table and chair at least twice a week. The staff are efficient in every other aspect, this includes the office staff.
Good day and thank you for sending us this honest review. Our apologies, we take the cleanliness of our homes very seriously. This matter has been escalated to the Housekeeping manager. In the interim, please feel free to chat with the Home Manager when next you are at the home. Have a lovely day!

Meet the Team (3)

I started my career in August 2017 as a Care Assistant, and I progressed to Home Manager, passing through all positions until my current one.
I believe in people’s values and respect. I love working with people from different cultures. Open and honest communication is very important to me, and I found that Rhythm Of Life is a unique approach to providing person-centred care.

The Deputy Home Manager shares responsibility with the Home Manager for running the home. Deputy Managers will each bring their own skill set to the home, some offering more assistance with the business side of things while others focus largely on care. However, whether they look at it from a business or care perspective, the focus of the Deputy is always to ensure that their home is offering the very best quality of life for our residents. Experienced and either holding or working towards their qualifications, Deputy Home Managers are capable and driven to provide the best of everything for their residents.

The Chef Manager organises every aspect of the catering operation and provides a safe, nutritious, quality service to our residents using freshly produced food. With a hands-on role, leading a team, they provide a quality catering service and help create a warm and friendly atmosphere for our residents. Working with our residents, we help to create menus to meet their needs and suit their tastes.
