My Mother is looked after well at Cornelia Manor and my brother and I are very happy with her care. Her room is clean, she has a choice of meals, she is always in clean clothes. There is entertainment provided (music) which she enjoys. The staff are very aware of her care needs and look after her in
a kind and patient way.

My mother has been a resident at Cornelia Manor for over 8 years and we, as a family, are very happy that mum has been extremely well cared for in a very friendly, caring, clean environment with all her needs catered for. As her next of kin, I am kept informed of anything that affects mum’s care, health,
medication. The visiting family are always made welcome and visits can be made any time, any day, without prior arrangements. As a retired carer both in the community and residential care with 30 years experience, I can say without hesitation that I would happily recommend Cornelia Manor to anyone seeking Residential Care for themselves or a loved one.

My Father has a combination of Vascular Dementia and Alzheimer's disease.
The Staff found that his needs were initially challenging at times but have managed them very successfully, enabling him to become settled in his new surroundings and have been able to meet all of his needs.

It has enabled

his family to relax in the knowledge that he is safe, settled and happy.

My mum came to Cornelia Manor in September 2017 after suffering a fall in the street.
She also had a major operation in October and was in a hospital for 2 weeks.
Cornelia Manor looked after her excellently.
I visited my mum in December and was impressed with the Xmas decorations in the home, grounds
and also in one of the offices, small gift bags and poinsettias were ready for the residents.
My mum enjoyed her Xmas.
All of the staff work extremely hard and go over and above their duties.
My mum has dementia and I'm glad she has company all of the time.

My husband is cared for in the best way possible and hated the idea of all this happening but now I do feel happy that he is being looked after in a way that I couldn't. Everything about the home is good - the rooms are well furnished - everything is clean and food is lovely. The staff are very caring
and treat the residents with kindness and can't fault anyone. Full marks everyone.

I have both parents in the home since February this year, From the moment we went to view the home we could not have been made more welcome. Wonderful atmosphere, spotless, caring staff, lovely food, plenty of activities and visitors are made welcome. Could not find any better. Parents are both happy
and join in when they are able to first class!!

Dad could no longer manage at home, so having read good reviews about Cornelia Manor, I decided Dad should come here. Very good decision. Although sadly Dad was only here for 3 1/2 weeks, the staff were very caring and attentive and really took the trouble to get to know Dad, especially the Deputy
Manager. Dad, unfortunately, became very ill and had to move to a nursing home.

Brilliant. Staff are great, friendly and courteous. They made us and dad feel at home. Cannot fault them. Just marvellous. Just slight query with laundry with items going missing and we make sure all clothes are marked.
We are made to feel very welcome every day. Kept up to date everything including
Doctors appointments.

My mother was admitted into Cornelia Manor in December 2014 due to dementia.
The staff are "first class". Her room is clean as are her clothes. The meals are lovely, she is treated with dignity and I've never heard the staff grumbling about anyone.
Often mum is up at night time and the staff let her
join them for a cuppa. She wanders around during the night due to her dementia. I have found Cornelia Manor to be somewhere I have complete confidence in and am grateful for all they provide,

I find Cornelia Manor a cheerful place to be as a resident. The staff are willing to help with any problems that I may have and frequently check to see if I am Ok. The food is excellent and we have activities during the afternoon if we wish to join in. My room is very comfortable with washing facilities
included.

We needed to find a care home suddenly for my father in January 2017. The manager of Cornelia Manor assessed and made preparations for him quickly and efficiently. From the moment we were greeted by the friendly manager, my worries for my father began to melt away.
The home is bright, clean and maintained
to a high standard. My dad has a lovely room next to the manager's office where he likes to spend time in the reclining chair he brought with him. Staff check on him constantly, listening to him and making sure he has everything he needs.
My father has been unwell several times before and since moving in which has lead to him exhibiting some challenging behaviour. At all times the staff have been gentle, kind and caring, treating him with the utmost respect. We are always informed when there are any changes, such as when the doctor is called.
Cornelia Manor is excellent and the staff give outstanding care. We consider ourselves very lucky to have found such a lovely, caring home.

My mother resided at Cornelia Manor for 3 years and has since sadly passed away. During her time there she was treated with dignity and respect at all times. She was looked after very well and I was extremely pleased at all times with her care.
I have never had any cause for complaint.

I have been very pleased with the care and support received by my mother since she moved to Cornelia Manor Residential Care Home almost two years ago. My mother really enjoys the company and support of the very friendly and helpful staff and the wide range of daily activities provided. The management
here is friendly and supportive and I have been impressed that medical help is sought properly when needed. I am always well informed of any changes to my mother's health. The building is safe and secure and my mother can access all rooms on one level, which means that she is able to move about freely as she chooses.

My mother has been a resident in Cornelia Manor for 2 and a half years and continues to receive excellent care and attention. She has a degree of Dementia (mainly memory loss) which is managed very well.
The staff are friendly, caring and polite and with a new manager in place, the organisation and
activities are continually improving. At nearly 96 years of age, Cornelia Manor has been very good in easing the problems that present themselves at this stage of life. They deserve all credit.

I am so pleased that my sister and I chose Cornelia Manor Residential Care Home for our mother. From the start, this home stood out above the others that we viewed. Although it has more residents than some, it is very efficiently run, clean, homely with a warm atmosphere. The residents seem like a large
family and mum has made friends and settled in well. All the staff are kind, friendly and patient with the residents. Visitors are warmly welcomed and encouraged. The two managers are both lovely ladies that do a terrific job.

My mum moved into Cornelia Manor in February 2010. The home is clean, has a welcoming atmosphere and is well run. Nothing was too much trouble for the care assistants. They treated mum with wonderful care and compassion and were always there to listen to any concerns that we might have. Mum had a good
appetite and enjoyed her meals which were well cooked and appealing. There was always a good choice on offer.
They also offer various activities with guests coming to play music and sing etc. Sadly mum passed away in November 2016 aged 93 years. Myself, my brother and his wife spent the day with mum before she passed away in the evening. We were looked after by the care staff offered food and refreshments and given beds for the night as we lived on the mainland. I can't praise this home and the caring people who work there enough and would recommend it.

My friend and ex-work colleague is 96 years old and has been in Cornelia Manor for over four years since his wife passed away. He decided to go into a care home and says it is the best thing he could have done.
From the head of care and all her team it is better than being at home, well looked after
no cooking or cleaning all done for him.
All the best thing he has done and I certainly agree. He is very happy.

The care home is always very welcoming, homely and clean. All staff have been friendly and caring towards the residents and give them their time (as much as they can). The residents always look clean and presentable and seem to be happy and content.
It was lovely to see and hear about the activities
and events that were put on over Christmas, it made it special for residents and allow family to be involved which is important.
I would be happy to recommend this care home to others.

Mum was taken to Cornelia Manor after a prolonged stay in hospital as there was no home care package available for her. She was made very welcome and settled in quickly. She seems very happy and enjoys her food.
She was a very poor eater at home. We hope she will retain her appetite when she returns
home. We are so pleased with the care she has received and we as a frequent visitors have been made most welcome and have been kept informed.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.426)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.426) out of 10 for Cornelia Manor Residential Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.5 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.944 for Cornelia Manor Residential Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (68 Excellents x 5) + (4 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 72 Ratings = 4.944
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.482 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Cornelia Manor Residential Care Home is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 34 registered maximum number of service users is 6.8. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 6.8 = 0.882
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
