I have ticked excellent in every box because that is honestly my view and experience at Bradfields. The staff have a good level of understanding of the needs of my mum and always use respect along with a high level of care and even a sense of humour. They have, since lockdown, introduced activities and a program to entertain and stimulate the residents, so a real bonus!

Reply from David Johnson, Registered Manager at Bradfield Residential Home

Its a pleasure to have your mother with us, she has certainly embraced everything we have to offer at Bradfield. Thank you for noticing our activities programme which we have invested heavily in the last 12 months. Our wellbeing coordinator has been a big help in getting us back on track post-covid measures. Your mother is very lucky to have such a supportive family such as yourselves.

If you are looking for a home from home then look no further. My grandmother lived here for five years and they treated her with love, care and respect. Before covid, she was involved with the daily activities, which are slowly returning. The catering is individually designed for each person, so those with intolerances or set diets are specifically catered for. Each person in the home is treated as an individual, their family can be involved as much or as little in their care. Each resident is looked after by carers who ensure their personal and mental needs are looked after. I was lucky to be involved in every step of my grandmother's care and believe the standards delivered by Bradfields contributed to her achieving an amazing 102 years.

My mother has lived at Bradfield for the last four months and has settled extremely well. Despite covid, the application and trial process was very thorough and straightforward. Mum was able to spend two weeks respite to test whether it was right for her. She was also able to upgrade to a larger room almost immediately. She is very happy here and we are able to visit to take her out whenever we like. More in-house activities and outings would be good but there are obvious limitations due to covid.

My father has settled into the home well and is very happy with the staff who support him. He does not socialise with other residents as he is unable hence the good for activities as he cannot participate due to his condition, however, when I have visited a number of activities have been taken place by the staff. The care, communication and support I have seen and experienced has been exceptional and I would definitely recommend the home and carers.

My mother had recently completed three years as a resident when she sadly passed away. We, as a family, were extremely happy with all aspects of her stay at Bradfield. The care and consideration she was shown was in our view exceptional. All staff were all well skilled and highly capable and confident. Her en-suite accommodation was of an excellent standard. All friends and family who visited commented on the general cleanliness of the home and the high standard of décor throughout. A varied, daily entertainment programme was in place under normal circumstances. Food was always greatly appreciated by my mother and was always of a very high quality.
The kitchen staff went to great lengths to accommodate all requests at mealtimes. It almost appeared that you could have whatever you wished!

We would have no doubts in recommending that you should consider Bradfield as the perfect residential home.

My father is living at Bradfield. I think the staff are fantastic, they are always so kind, helpful and reassuring when I speak to them on the phone. For the 2 + years my mother has been resident, the staff at Bradfield have looked after her well and with kindness. The home is always clean, well-maintained and, normally, welcoming to visitors. Meals are wholesome and flexible but could sometimes make more of seasonal vegetables and fruit. Residents’ needs are generally met with respect, good humour and patience and individual worries are promptly addressed. The activities usually provide a welcome distraction from the inevitable losses that come with age. My mother enjoys keep-fit or yoga, and hair-dressing is the highlight of her week. Her feelings of being diminished as an individual and helpless due to mobility or communication limitations, make it vital that staff strive to find time to listen and help. Most do. The management have taken a responsible line during the current Covid-19 crisis to safeguard staff and residents, finding imaginative ways to lessen the sense of disorientation, fear and isolation residents are feeling.

The home is on a quiet road with well-kept gardens. The staff are excellent. Residents are well cared for by staff who always have a smile and time for conversation. The rooms are a decent size but residents spent most of the day in lounges where they can watch tv and engage in the varied programme of activities. The food is excellent and my father looks forward to his meals with gusto.

We searched very hard to find the right care home for a very special lady, our Grandmother. We eventually found Bradfield and I comfortably speak on behalf of my family when I say we couldn’t have chosen a more suitable, caring, sensitive and understanding home. From our initial contact to our first visit, taking Nan to view and finally deciding that this was the place, the whole team, from owners to all staff has been nothing more than 100% spot on. Nan seems very relaxed, happy and comes across as settled. This is so important to us as a family. I would recommend this home without hesitation and thank them all for their care of my very special 94yo Grandmother.

Mum went into Bradfield in February 2013 due to mobility problems caused by arthritic hips. She passed away there in her own room peacefully in September 2018. During that time the standards of support improved from exceptional to even better.
The staff were all brilliant and exceptionally well managed. You were always made to feel welcome as soon as you rang the doorbell. You were always offered a cup of tea, and the senior carer on duty would invariably find time to pop in to discuss Mum's physical, mental and psychological well being. Nothing was ever too much trouble for them.

Mum particularly enjoyed days out in Bradfield's modified wheelchair friendly microvan. The management are outstanding and very highly qualified. They are so interested in their work. Their advice, support and guidance to relatives is timely and brilliant, whether face to face or on the phone, whether writing Care Plans or liaising with local doctors to ensure the very best service to their residents.

My mother-in-law has been resident at this home for 5 months. My husband and I have been very impressed with the level of care she receives. She was previously living by herself and now loves the company and social interaction, which also helps her dementia. There are daily activities and she particularly loves the singing and creative ones. She has put on the weight previously lost and thoroughly enjoying her food. I even heard the cook offering to make her a different dish as she didn't want the dinner option that day. Nothing seems to be too much trouble. We feel that the move has given her a new lease of life and we have peace of mind as she is so well cared for. Led by a great management team, Bradfield is 'head and shoulders' above the rest.

I have never been to a better run and presented care home. The staff and the owners family could not have been more helpful during our four-day visit to my wife's sister.
The staff insisted that they would keep our sandwiches in the fridge and we could have them at teatime with my wife's sister in the dining room. The next day the owner invited us to tea in the dining room with the residents, now how many care home owners would do that!

The whole atmosphere at this home is of a happy and caring place. Its just the best.
