Cumbria House is a residential Care Home and is located in Folkestone within a very attractive and quaint area. It is close to the Town Centre and nearby amenities include the famous Leas, a raised cliff top promenade and Folkestone Harbour.
Cumbria House is a large extended building with three floors which was constructed in the 1930s and has recently undergone a major refurbishment programme throughout to preserve the character of the building. This Home is set in its own grounds with the benefit of lovely rear gardens which the residents can enjoy.
Staff promote independence at all times, giving assistance as required to maintain an excellent standard of living, with emphasis on dignity, integrity and respect providing a homely and caring environment giving each resident the choices that each of us have in daily lives.
The home is staffed with adequately trained professionals over the 24 hour period, teaching and training staff to understand the physical and psychological needs of residents so they can care for them in a loving, caring and professional way.
Cumbria House has 29 bedrooms, the majority of which having en-suite facilities. All communal areas and bedrooms are comfortable and have recently been decorated to the highest standards.

Today myself and family visited Cumbria House for their annual garden party. My mum thoroughly enjoyed herself, there was a very good singer who sang all the lovely old classics that never date and a fantastic raffle. After the music we were treated to a magnificent spread including sandwiches, pizzas, salad, fruits, cheeses, desserts and cakes. The staff preparing the food must have worked extremely hard. The caring staff, Manager Marita and Mary were as usual so kind in helping my mum inside and checking she was ok for drinks and food. I can't fault the home in any way and feel so happy that I can relax knowing my mum is so well cared for and safe.

Mum was a resident at Cumbria House for 18 months before she passed in April 2026. She had Alzheimer's and had become increasingly difficult and paranoid. When she moved into Cumbria House, she settled in really well. The staff were amazing with her and she soon became happy and content. She genuinely thought she was at home - that's how settled she was.
Marita and Mary, Manager and Deputy Manager, were great and everyone working there, was extremely kind and helpful - not just to mum, but to us every time we visited, We couldn't have asked for a better home for mum in her final months, and I will always be grateful for the care, compassion and warmth she received from everyone there.

My brother-in-law is extremely happy at Cumbria House Care Home. His health is a lot better now. He would be happy to stay there for the remainder of his life. I can't recommend it enough.

Although I do not like being in a care home and would have preferred to stay in my own home, I knew that was not possible because I was always falling over and forgetting things - cooking, cleaning etc. My wife chose Cumbria House and I think she has picked one of the best in the area.

My mother was a resident at Cumbria House for just over a year and we are very grateful for the care she received there.
The home has a very relaxed, friendly environment. It is well lef by managers who are open and welcoming. Care, compassion, kindness and commitment was shown by every member of staff. My mother was always treated with dignity and respect. The home was always clean and tidy. Families are made welcome at anytime, always greeted as friends and offered refreshments. I can thoroughly recommend Cumbria House for the care of loved ones.

This is a wonderful home, the staff are amazing and incredible. The cleanliness and smell of the house is extremely pleasant. Best of all the management of the home is the greatest of all. I love the home and I am willing to stay here until my dying day.

This is my mother's second care home experience. I would have no hesitation in recommending Cumbria House. An immaculate, friendly care home which is very well-run. She is very well looked after including frequent nighttime checks. There are regular visits from a chiropodist, hairdresser, and optician. When visiting I have often delayed my departure to listen to visiting singers or musicians, who all seem to be of a high standard, as does the weekly seated exercise class. The carers and the home handyman are all very welcoming and efficient.

Our family is grateful for the care my grandma has received at Cumbria House. As a resident for nearly a year, we've been impressed by the staff's attention and compassion. They treat her with dignity, ensuring she is comfortable and happy. The team is friendly, and the manager excels in keeping us informed about her well-being, providing peace of mind.
Her room is spacious, cosy, and well-maintained, while the communal areas create a warm atmosphere. The visitor lounge makes spending time with family easy and enjoyable. Small gestures, like greeting us kindly and offering a drink, highlight their dedication to both residents and families.

All staff welcome me when I visit and offer a cup of tea. My mother is a lot happier, she frequently comments with praise about the staff.
