My husband went into The Grange Care Home for two weeks respite, with early dementia. He settled very well in a warm and friendly atmosphere. His needs were always attended to by the kind and reassuring staff, and I thank them so much.

Thank you very much for the respite care given to our mother. She improved physically and mentally during her two-week stay. She was sat at the tea-table the evening before last and said: "I like it here, the people are lovely." The staff have been excellent and supportive. Thank you all.

Since my mother moved into The Grange in August, I have been able to relax knowing that she is being looked after and cared for by the staff and carers at The Grange.
Mum settled in well and all questions were answered in a clear manner.

All the care given to my relative has been excellent. The staff are very professional. My relative has a water infection, the doctor was called and she was given antibiotics.

The Grange provided my mother with excellent care and attention throughout her residency at The Grange. Also, the information on Mum and her health needs provided by all staff to relatives was exceptional, and their support, love and respect given to Mum and to relatives at difficult times will be remembered
by myself and family forever.

My mother has been in The Grange for a few years now. We have seen it go right down in standards for every need, but in the last year, my mother has become bedbound but the home has become a much better place for her to stay, very caring and understanding for her needs. The staff are excellent and kind.
The whole standard of the home has jumped up in every way.
I don't mind saying that my mum is in The Grange now, not like one or two years ago, I was ashamed to say.

My father seems more settled at The Grange after moving from another care home.
He doesn't really engage in any activities here as he would rather just watch his own television, but he does go to the dining room for his meals.
I have always found the staff very helpful and polite.

Although my father was only here for a short time, due to many hospital visits, as a family we felt that there was genuine care and concern about his welfare. The rooms were very clean, well maintained and bright. There was no “care home” aroma, in fact, the opposite, it was pleasant to walk into. The
service user is encouraged to make their room personal to them by bringing in things from home which only adds to their comfort and peace of mind.
When searching for a suitable care home we called The Grange on the off chance of a vacancy. We were told we could drop in at any time, no need to book an appointment, just turn up. This was refreshing and made us all feel at ease with the place. We knew instantly that we wanted Dad to come here. We never regretted that decision.
We thoroughly recommend The Grange.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.868) out of 10 for The Grange Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 23 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.868 for The Grange Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (237 Excellents x 5) + (34 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 272 Ratings = 4.868
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Grange Care Home is based on 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 28 registered maximum number of service users is 5.6, which has been reached with 23 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
