Great chef. Mum loves the dessert trolley.
Good activities.
Gardens are very pleasant and the house is grand and made of stone.
Bedrooms are generous size.
Could do with better lighting.

Well done and thanks!

The staff at Loose Valley Care Centre are always so friendly and welcoming. We feel comforted that my husband's mother is well taken care of and all her needs are met. We visit my mother-in-law regularly and the home is always kept clean and people are being treated with dignity and respect. Thank you for giving my mother-in-law the highest level of care that she needs at this time. We are very happy that we chose Loose Valley Care Centre for this stage of her care.

As a family, we have been amazed at the improvement in my auntie's quality of life, as well as mental and physical wellbeing since becoming a resident at Loose Valley in the last three months. The manager and her whole team have been absolutely brilliant and to see the change in my auntie, since transferring from another home, has been nothing short of amazing. My auntie was permanently bedridden before, isolated in a small room with not much more than a television for company. Now, she is dressed every day and taken into the lounge area or conservatory (albeit in a very sophisticated wheelchair) to enjoy activities, entertainment, and the company of other residents and the team at Loose Valley. She is undoubtedly happy, comfortable, and well cared for with respect and dignity. We think Loose Valley is an exceptional care home setting and feel fortunate that our auntie is a resident there now. They should be used as an example to others. With heartfelt thanks to all the team.

My mother was a resident at Loose Valley for the last couple of months of her life and was blessed with great care and kindness. My eternal gratitude to the manager and staff who kept her comfortable and peaceful during such a difficult time. I was made to feel welcome at all times and was kept well-informed. I was extremely touched that the manager and a staff member were able to come and say goodbye to my mum at her funeral.

My mother was a resident from 2018 to 2022 and couldn't have had better care. The building and location of the home are lovely, but it's the staff (and Billy the cat) that make it so special. Mum settled in so quickly, and the staff couldn't do enough to make her feel at home, and Loose Valley Care Centre soon became home for my mum. The staff do a lot to ensure that the residents have fun (quizzes, films, visiting singers, visits to Christmas markets, visiting animals, etc) and therefore, in turn, remain stimulated. Even during the pandemic, they arranged 'visits' and theme days to India, France, Wales, Scotland and many more. The medical care was second to none, despite my mother's care becoming more complex and demanding. Mum also had to have a gluten-free diet, and the kitchen produced lovely, delicious, freshly cooked food every day to suit Mum's dietary needs.

It's a great care home that has the best staff you could ever wish to have looking after your loved one.

My mother became a resident of Loose Valley Care Home back in September of 2021 after her severe arthritis and osteoporosis made it impossible for her to stay at home on her own, even with visiting carers. She was in a lot of pain, upset at having to leave her home and very frail. The wonderful staff made her feel safe and looked after, from the moment she arrived. I doubt she had felt that safe for a considerable amount of time. She settled in very quickly and soon felt at home. Our family were so happy to have found this wonderful place, knowing Mum was happy and looked after. As far as I'm concerned, the staff there do a wonderful job, and I hope they realise what a huge difference they make to people's lives. Mum called them all angels.

She sadly passed away this year due to health issues connected to old age, but I will forever be grateful to everyone there. It's a wonderful place. Thank you all.

My sister was a resident at Loose Valley for two and a half years until she passed away at the end of 2021. She was cared for by kind friendly staff. The nursing staff kept me fully informed of her well-being through her stay, especially during covid days when it was difficult to visit. Her minor needs like having her coffee hot, extra pillows on her bed or being given different meals when what was on the menu wasn't to her liking were quickly sorted. I'm pleased we chose Loose Valley and recommended this care home.

My father was admitted to Loose Valley for end-of-life care after a terminal illness diagnosis back in December 2021. The admission process was seamless and dad was immediately reassured by having people around him after worries of isolation at home despite family support. The Manager popped into his room daily and made him feel that he was getting 'special' care. Dad had oesophageal cancer and was unable to eat or drink very much by the time of his admission. There was gentle encouragement from the staff but no pressure and dad was able to request anything that he fancied to eat/drink. As dad deteriorated the staff communicated well with the Community Hospice Team and were excellent at keeping me informed at each stage of dad's care. They not only looked after dad but supported the family, especially during dads last days and hours. They ensured that dad was comfortable and pain-free. As a family, we shall be forever grateful for the care and sensitivity shown to dad and us.

In October 2021 I was transferred to Loose Valley needing mobility support after sustaining a Vancouver fracture to my right hip. I had seven joints replaced previously. The aim was to achieve pain-free walking using one walking stick and carer support. There were exercise classes for general fitness. We had three cooked meals daily with a choice of two served in our rooms or the conservatory. I had a single, double aspect room with an adjacent toilet and shower. I had care support with showering. My previous important information of care homes was that they were to be avoided at all costs. More than four months later the care and attention I have received at Loose Valley has softened my impression a bit and am worried that I soon will have to do without:- someone to cook and serve my meals, provide a 2 - 3 hour laundry service, give me my medication, then amuse and entertain me etc. Also what was important to my recovery was the time I spent swapping life stories with my carers considering how we all ended up at the same place and time.

It will be nice to see my wife though!

Dad arrived at Loose Valley in a poor physical and mental condition following a major operation and long hospital stay. Through the diligent care and generosity of spirit of all the staff, he has now recovered to his pre-op condition. I am very pleased to give this review of the care my father is receiving at Loose Valley (since 4th November 2021) as the care is excellent. I am a retired registered nurse so can appreciate

the excellent care being given to my father. My father who is bedridden is given very regular position changes and always well-groomed, and has nutrition, fluid intake, and output closely monitored. There is a lovely friendly atmosphere in the home and all the staff is very helpful, kind and patient. My brother and I are very pleased with the care my father is receiving.

"Hello, my name is Diana Serban and I’m the Home Manager at Loose Valley Care Home in Maidstone, Kent. We are a Nursing Home in Loose and our core values of quality, dignity and respect remains at the very heart of everything we do. We would like to invite you to pay us a visit if you are looking for a Home for your loved one, where you will be greeted by our friendly staff.

Located in a quiet area with excellent transport links to Maidstone and Staplehurst, our Care Home is a beautiful Victorian building combining 'old' character with newly refurbished facilities and many more in progress. We have 31 single rooms in our Care Home – the majority of which have en-suite facilities. Loose Valley is perfect for people who like the intimacy and homely feel of a smaller Care Home."

Paula Smy
Paula SmyJob Title:Recreation and Well-Being ChampionJoined: 2018

"I've worked at Loose Valley as Recreation and Well-Being Champion since October 2018, but before that, I worked in the same role at another Nellsar Home – Abbotsleigh. I also used to work as a Kitchen Assistant on Fridays for two years. I am so glad I work for Nellsar as they put everyone first and residents are top priority.

I've seen many positive changes and had opportunities to learn and progress over the years. Namely, my NVQ 2 Activity Leadership Course and the Dementia Care City and Guilds Course. Nellsar is like family and I feel like a valued member of the team; they look after their staff and operate an open door policy when needing to approach the Management Team.

My Manager at Loose Valley listens to my ideas and the whole team works together, supporting each department to make each day special. We pull together for special events and the armchair travel adventure "Around the World with Nellsar Cruises" was a great success throughout the Home. I worked with the Kitchen Team in creating fun themed menus for each destination, and it made me feel appreciated and listened to.

What I most enjoy about my job is the strong sense of teamwork and good communication. I take pride in my job and I'm always up for a challenge. I love being creative and have a passion for arts and crafts – it's where I excel. Designing backdrops out of cardboard is a fun knack I've honed over the years – give me a box and I can turn it into anything! So far I've made a pirate ship, a gondola, a caravan and a minibus!"
