Only the experience of a loved one in a care home enables you to understand the effect it has. It is totally life changing for the whole family. But every cloud has a silver lining and ours is Abbotsleigh. My husband has been a resident for the last eighteen months. We are able to rest knowing my husband's needs are catered for. All the staff whatever their rolls are lovely people and always there with a smile. Always showing great kindness, patience and understanding to all the residents whatever the situation. As well as my husband's needs being so well covered, we always receive a lovely welcome when visiting and feel very comfortable when there. A very big thank you to everyone. These issues were exacerbated by evident staffing shortages. When we raised these concerns, management's response was defensive. We ultimately raised a formal safeguarding complaint with the local authority, who investigated and upheld the majority of our allegations. I strongly advise families considering this facility to thoroughly investigate their staffing levels, safety protocols, and management.

having spent a lot of time in the home i can honestly say the nurses and carers are the best, they genuinely care and will do anything to help. You get to know the team as they are all regular and they don't have a high staff turnaround. During Mum's final days, the carers and nurses were incredibly compassionate and supportive towards both Mum and our family. I will always be grateful to the staff who cared for her over the past two years. They made a very difficult journey easier, and Meyer House became like a second family to us.

My Dad has been at Sonia Lodge for quite a while now. The care is Excellent i could not ask more from the staff in each department, i have never had any problems to deal with

A great care home !!

The whole atmosphere was friendly and welcoming. Staff helpful and pleasant. Rooms lovely and spacious and everything very clean. 100% better than the home she had previously been in.

Mum was discharged from hospital at the end of September 2025 into the care of Abbotsleigh. She was quite ill and over the last 11 months the staff at Abbotsleigh have really helped her medical conditions stabilise. She is very settled and content. All the staff are caring and supportive. Nothing is too much trouble and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Abbotsleigh Care Centre.

Put simply, Abbotsleigh has become Mum's home. She's looked after wonderfully with kind and attentive carers. They and their management team are her new family. My wife and I (son and daughter in law) are always made welcome and we feel that her best interests are always acted upon. We sleep well at night knowing Mum is safe, warm and cared for. Mum loves doing the sessions and is always buzzing afterwards. She has a set of small daily exercises to do if she wants to, which she can tick off. Mum enjoys this as it gives her a real sense of achievement. Thank you so much to Athira for taking the time to understand what really works for mum and for putting the plan together.

The staff are also very good with the residents and there are always plenty of activities to engage everyone. Visitors are also made most welcome.

On her first day everyone made her feel so welcome & all came to say hello. Her room had been newly decorated & is absolutely beautiful. All the staff are so kind & friendly. There are activities going on each day, & many of the staff all rushed to tell me how mum was star of the show when they had an ABBA Tribute Act there one afternoon, and mum was up singing and dancing and clapping the entire time! Needless to say, I highly recommend this care home!

My Aunt came to Sony Lodge May 2025, and I can say she has been cared for with great kindness and respect, whenever I come to visit my Aunt the staff are always welcoming and friendly, they have daily activities which are fun and engaging. It is a lovely home

My husband arrived at St Winifreds Care Centre on 31/07/2026. We have been so impressed with the great care and kindness received. All the staff we have encountered are well-trained, efficient, helpful and friendly. My husband is settled and happy, exactly what we hoped for.

St Winifreds exceeds all my expectations. My partner is so well looked after. He enjoys his food and has plenty. His bedroom is a delight and so clean.

All of the staff are amazing very caring and helpful all of the time. Nothing is too much trouble for them. The home is clean and very comfortable and the food is loverly .
