When mum was placed here the initial meeting and impression of home was good and welcoming. She settled in quickly and was looked after extremely well with compassion as she was unwell at the time. Upon our numerous visits we were offered tea/coffee and even biscuits as we sat with her in the communal
room. Her own room was very comfortable and clean. The food was excellent with snacks between and nothing seemed too much trouble for the staff. When she got better and was sent home the bond between her and the staff was fantastic - thank you all.
Reply from RUSSELL MENOZA, Registered Manager at Lukestone Care Centre

Such an overwhelming feeling of fulfilment watching your mum left for her own home. Your mum and your family is part of our family here in Lukestone, and we are truly ever grateful to have such opportunity to provide that care to your mum and be supported by you and whole family and friends. We will visit her soon and if you have a chance please come down with mum for lunch, coffee and above all on our big events. Always here if you need help, and truly appreciate your lovely words which will inspire our team to continue to provide heartfelt care and support to our dear residents and their family and friends.

St Winifred's admitted my mum for respite care which very quickly became end of life care. Although she was only there for a very short time we cannot fault the care she was given. The staff were hugely helpful and knowledgable before she arrived with two visits. While there she received the kindest
love, care and attention from all staff. There was excellent liaison with her doctor's surgery and good medical support on site. Her room was lovely with an en-suite shower room. All staff were so kind to all our family as we struggled to come to terms with the end of her life - surrounding us with kindness, tea and sandwiches and a family room for respite and meetings. The other facilities in the home look lovely and it was very special to have a visit from the therapy dog. A big thank you to the whole team who made the final days of mum' life easier to bear.

My mother passed on 3rd September this year having been a resident of Abbotsleigh for very nearly 3 years. She was looked after wonderfully well by all the staff and carers. Despite being confused through dementia she didn't always remember peoples names but she always told me she was well looked after.

My

desire was always for her to be somewhere she was safe & comfortable, I think we were lucky she went to Abbotsleigh. In addition to my mum being well looked after I would like to recognise how well I personally was treated by all the staff at Abbotsleigh, I was always made to feel welcome, kept fully advised of what was going on at both the home and with mother. I will obviously miss my mother, but I will also miss seeing the team at Abbotsleigh.

Thank you for the marvellous job you have done and made the last 3 years of my mother's life better for all concerned.

Reply from Alina Abagiu, Registered Manager at Abbotsleigh Care Centre

Thank you so much for your kind words, Alan. It was a privilege to care for your mother over the past three years and we are so pleased she felt safe and comfortable with us. It means a great deal to know that you also felt supported and welcomed. We will miss seeing you too, and send our deepest condolences.

My father joined Lukestone in November 2024 because he could no longer weight bare and his Alzheimer's disease was worsening. My brother and I could no longer look after him at home.
All the staff made him feel very welcome and he was always kept clean, shaven and extremely well fed. There was a period
when dad did join in the many activities that the girls did and I could see that he was enjoying himself.
There was always enough staff in the lounge area and I felt that it had a happy family atmosphere. I got to know the staff and they would always answer any questions that I had and treat me as one of the family. I also made friends with some of the relatives who became a great support network.
I loved the resident of the day idea and had Sunday lunch with my dad several times. Those memories I will treasure.
The facilities are homely which personally I preferred for my dad. I wanted him to feel at ease and relaxed.
The end of life care was excellent.

On arrival for the first time I was very impressed with the level of security in the care home from the codes on all doors and lift to checking in and out. There's no restriction on visiting hours and all staff that we encountered were polite, helpful and caring.
My mum's room was immaculate and her
clothes were changed regularly. She seemed to be quite content and interacted with staff in a positive way. I travelled from another country to see her and am very happy with the care she's receiving and have peace of mind leaving her.
The manager explained mum's condition and care to us and promised to keep us updated on her progress.
Overall I'm very impressed with the professionalism of all staff while still being compassionate to residents.

After a spell in hospital, my sister's dementia necessitated going into care, which was quite a shock as, at that point, I wanted her to come home. She was taken to Abbotsleigh Care Centre. Over time, she settled in and her usual happy personality returned. I can't speak highly enough of all the staff
involved in her care and how the home is run. She seems very happy, she is well cared for and is safe. Her day to day life is much fuller than it would have been had she returned home. The outside space is lovely, and they can feed the chickens. There is plenty of room for people to sit, and we recently had a BBQ and strawberries and cream.

After a motorcycle accident in April 2025 I spent 8 weeks in hospital. Owing to a fractured pelvis, at the end of that time I still had limited mobility and it was not feasible for me to go back home, so I was placed at Loose Valley Care Centre.
I was initially very wary of going to a care home, but
I was very pleasantly surprised.
The setting is very pleasant, all my visitors commented on how nice it was there
The staff were very friendly and helpful. They all seem to actually enjoy their job, which is nice to see.
There is a physio who is onsite twice a week.
They don't just look after resident's physical needs, they also arrange activities, such a quizzes, bingo, visiting entertainment and excursions. I went on 3 of the outings and very much enjoyed them.
I spent just over 6 weeks there, until my pelvis had healed sufficiently to allow me to go home.
It was hard to say goodbye when I left.

Abbotsleigh Care Centre

My husband has been at Abbotsleigh now for 18 months and settled in very quickly with the care of the staff who were very attentive to his needs. They always address him by name and try to engage him when they can which is not east as he is very tired and sleepy. His weight has stabilised since being
there although he is very thin, but the staff try to move him regularly to avoid bedsores. He is in his chair in the coffee room every 2-3 days which he enjoys with singers coming in, organised by the entertainment team.

Thank you so much for your kind words. I'm so pleased to hear your husband has settled in well and is enjoying the activities. It means a lot to the team to know their care and efforts are appreciated; I'll be sure to share your lovely feedback with them.

St Winifreds Care Centre

We live in California and this was the first time we saw my grandma at St Winifreds. It seems that she is exceptionally well taken care of. Wehn we visit she is out of her room, sitting in the sun. She is regularly offered snacks and refreshments. The staff go above and beyond to ensure she is comfortable
and happy. Furthermore, they have made our visits with her so happy and welcomed us into the home too. We really appreciate it!
