Lukestone Care Centre in Maidstone specialise in providing nursing care for older people who have been diagnosed with Dementia or long-term mental health problems. With a highly qualified and caring team, the nurturing environment creates a home-from-home feel. The Home also employs a Physiotherapist to support residents with rehabilitation, including bespoke packages for day care or short-term placements. Physiotherapy services also help with improving peoples’ strength, avoiding or reducing falls, and improved overall well-being.

Lukestone cares for up to 42 residents, with single room accommodation, the majority of which have ensuite facilities. The Home has two lounges, a dining room, an onsite hair salon and a Dementia-friendly sensory garden which is used year-round and for special gardening projects.

Lukestone's Recreation and Well-being team members ensure residents have access to tailored activities and entertainment seven days a week, to suit each person’s hobbies and interests. Activities are designed for residents’ wellness, enjoyment and sense of well-being, on an individual and group basis. These include fun and lively themed days, seated exercise classes, and relaxing Namaste treatments such as gentle massage.

Well-known for their delicious food and expertise, the Lukestone catering team provides exceptional, nutritious meals and snacks to residents every day. Supported by Nellsar’s Head of Nutrition and Wellness, they recognise that nutrition and hydration are an integral part of good health and well-being.

Employing the Care Vision® digital care management system throughout the Home ensures that the entire care service delivery, recording and reporting systems are optimised and centred around residents and their personalised care.

My father joined Lukestone in November 2024 because he could no longer weight bare and his Alzheimer's disease was worsening. My brother and I could no longer look after him at home.
All the staff made him feel very welcome and he was always kept clean, shaven and extremely well fed. There was a period
when dad did join in the many activities that the girls did and I could see that he was enjoying himself.
There was always enough staff in the lounge area and I felt that it had a happy family atmosphere. I got to know the staff and they would always answer any questions that I had and treat me as one of the family. I also made friends with some of the relatives who became a great support network.
I loved the resident of the day idea and had Sunday lunch with my dad several times. Those memories I will treasure.
The facilities are homely which personally I preferred for my dad. I wanted him to feel at ease and relaxed.
The end of life care was excellent.

On arrival for the first time I was very impressed with the level of security in the care home from the codes on all doors and lift to checking in and out. There's no restriction on visiting hours and all staff that we encountered were polite, helpful and caring.
My mum's room was immaculate and her
clothes were changed regularly. She seemed to be quite content and interacted with staff in a positive way. I travelled from another country to see her and am very happy with the care she's receiving and have peace of mind leaving her.
The manager explained mum's condition and care to us and promised to keep us updated on her progress.
Overall I'm very impressed with the professionalism of all staff while still being compassionate to residents.

Due to the excellent care by all staff, I had an extra precious 13 months with my loved ones. Nothing was too much trouble for anyone. Even just sitting with him was very caring. I cannot stress how lovely and caring this nursing home is. It is a beautiful place.

Dad was a resident from Feb 2024 to April 2025 and was bedbound. Within a few weeks, he was up and mobile again. This is down to the outstanding care and commitment from the team here. This made dad's spirits lift and gave the true purpose to keep fighting his illnesses. He made a lot of friends here,
especially the team. Taking part in various activities with exercises made fun. You cannot get better care than here. And communication between Lukestone and us was excellent too.

Absolutely wonderful home. The staff and managers made my life so much easier knowing my mum was being treated kindly and affectionately at lukestone. She genuinely enjoyed being there and she was then able to get full assistance for her ever increasing needs she felt safe and secure there and enjoyed
all the interaction with the staff especially the music, the singing and the dancing. Again all lovely people with time and patience and it made my mums last months more pleasant and enjoyable - thank you x

My husband came here unable to walk unaided and now he can easily walk with the frame and even on his own. He has been eating well and says that the food has been very good. The staff have all been positive, friendly and helpful. The facilities are very good and the support excellent.

We feel so fortunate to have found Lukestone for Mum. Always greeted with a smile, always smells nice. Staff always attentive. Always find Mum clean. Room always tidy and clean. Staff always work hard h activities. Food always smells nice cooking.
Despite all the hard work, staff manage to be happy,
this transfers to residents, so good.

My mother was a resident of Lukestone since July 2023 and passed away in October 2024. She suffered from Mixed Dementia but was still very active, never could sit still, loved to walk, and always tried to help everyone including the visiting entertainment. From arrival to the end, the staff at Lukestone
have provided exceptional care for Mum. Knowing Mum was safe and secure assured us that she was in the right place especially as her face would always light up when she smiled at the staff. All the staff, from the clinical leads to the activity staff were helpful, never too busy to answer questions, and were so gentle and thoughtful to Mum as well as the other residents. My family and I can't thank them enough for the care they gave Mum for her last few days and were so respectful when Mum passed away.

My mum has been at Lukestone for almost a year. All the staff at the home are kind, caring and treat all the residents with kindness, respect, and dignity. When we visit Mum, we are always asked if we would like tea or coffee. The nurses always keep us updated with how Mum is getting on. We are free
to visit whenever we like and are often invited to any events that are planned at the home. I would be happy to recommend the home to anyone.

My husband is 83 years old and had a stroke 4 years ago and was then diagnosed with vascular dementia. He was bedridden, doubly incontinent, very confused and lost in his own words most of the time. He was admitted to Lukestone Care Centre 5 weeks ago for assessment as I could no longer look after him
at home. I am so happy he was sent there as the care provided is wonderful. The management and staff are so helpful and caring, nothing is too much trouble and the sincerity of their feelings and actions towards the residents shines through. I and the family are permanently thanking them for their kindness and gentle actions towards the residents. Thank you Lukestone and bless you all.

Mum was admitted to Lukestone for assessment following several falls and the onset of dementia. This was my first experience of a care home and I was greeted by caring staff who looked after Mum leaving me with no doubts that she would be comfortable and safe. Mum has enjoyed all her meals and has never

the care Lukestone Care Centre residents receive for their diverse needs is excellent. My husband required nursing care and every member of staff, the nurses and especially the manager welcomed him with compassion. The care I received was excellent and I was updated on his well-being every day. During
his short stay he enjoyed the socialising etc, was expertly nursed, cared for and finally passed away with dignity and at peace. I will be eternally grateful to everybody who made this possible. Thank you so very much.

My husband was moved to Lukestone after a spell in hospital. I was extremely worried as I have always maintained that he would never go to a care home. Unfortunately, his lack of mobility meant it was taken out of my hands.
I can wholeheartedly say that the whole staff from management through to cooks
and cleaners treat him with care, kindness and respect. He has also had a number of medical issues and the nurses have been outstanding.
It’s hard leaving him when I visit but made easier when I know he couldn’t be better cared for.

Mum was a resident at Lukestone from 11/19 until 12/24. Throughout her time there, the team did everything possible to provide my mum with the best quality care and to deal with her OCD. This allowed my mum to feel safe and settled in what she considered her home.

My mother was only at Lukestone Care Home for a couple of months. During that time, we found the service provided very good. The staff were always polite and attentive, and the management was always very professional and informative. Her needs were met throughout her time there. The activities for the
residents are excellent and varied. Overall, we were very satisfied with the service provided. Thank you.

Overall satisfaction. Staff are delightful, caring. Appearance of home has much improved. When using the 2nd floor shower I have needed to ask domestics to clean it before I could use it recent use I have noticed the cleanliness has improved.
Bedrooms are tastefully decorated with good choice of soft
furnishings.
On seeing Mum's hot meals they look appetising but Mum has commented on hard carrots and peas.

From the time Mum entered Lukestone Care Centre to the day that she passed away, Mum was cared for with dignity, respect and love. She had nursing needs which the home met to a very consistent and high standard. This meant that Mum, who in the latter stages could not articulate her feelings, was always
clean, comfortable and pain-free.
We are very grateful to every member of staff... office staff, maintenance staff, carers, nurses, managers and activity staff members who all work so hard to provide such a lovely atmosphere and home for their residents.
I would definitely recommend Lukestone to anyone considering placing their loved one there.

Hello, my name is Russell and I am the Home Manager of Lukestone Care Home. Caring for people has always been my passion, reflecting on my culture, beliefs and religious values. I strive to inspire my team to focus on the core values of care to achieve a deep understanding of Dementia and how it affects the lives and well-being of every resident.


Lukestone boasts some traditional Victorian features and has a very homely feel, with recent interior upgrades that have enhanced its cosy, warm atmosphere. We are known in the area for our excellent Dementia Care; Lukestone has always gained recognition from our stakeholders and our relatives provide very positive feedback after experiencing the delightful service and expert care we provide for their loved ones.


Our Home has a great location; nestled 10 minutes away from Maidstone town centre, five minutes to the nearest train station and just a few yards away from a bus stop, we are very accessible for commuters. We are situated close to an Anglican Church, and to Grange Moor Restaurant and Hotel ­– ideal for relaxation and accommodation for visiting relatives.


At Lukestone, we place high importance on respecting and valuing our team members and part of this involves empowering them with extensive development and training opportunities. I find this brings out everyone’s best and elevates individual self-confidence in providing tailored, person-centred care to our dear residents. Our OSCE Nurse programme has been an amazing success, whereby we develop our Health Care Assistants to become fully qualified Nurses, bringing added strength and deeper knowledge and understanding to our team.


I believe in being hands-on and I support and motivate my team to work hard, with determination, while making them feel valued. I strive to ensure our team members come to work happy and leave feeling fulfilled, knowing that they have shared their best, with the freedom they need to develop and lead. I aim to give my team every opportunity to express their views on how to improve the lives of our residents and make their respective roles rewarding. I also like to instil a sense of self-belief that we can all make positive changes and I inspire everyone to progress.


The close involvement of our residents’ families is also an important part of how we shape a person’s care plan; we strongly believe their contribution refines the success of our team and supports us in caring for our residents with dignity, compassion and respect during their time with us.


Two initiatives I am passionate about launching at our Home are our ‘Dementia Like Me’ programme and ‘Come Dine with me at Lukestone’. Our Dementia Like Me programme will aim to match each of our residents with a team member who shares their interests and hobbies, so they can enjoy spending time sharing the things they both love – watching movies, collecting memorabilia, a passion for the royal family, gardening and more. The programme will provide time and support to celebrate these passions together, or with other residents, team members and family members.


We also have plans to put in place a weekly special event in our dining room to mimic cuisines around the world, and for our residents and relatives to experience Lukestone’s diversity. ‘Come Dine with me at Lukestone’ will be launched to create unforgettable dinner dates between our residents and relatives, recreating special memories of time spent in France, Italy, Spain or here in the UK. We will endeavour to create a special holiday ambience and exquisite dining experiences, supporting our dear residents to relive their fond memories and rekindle passions.


I have ambitious plans for Lukestone and strive to deliver a quality care setting with no boundaries on our aspirations. I plan for Lukestone to be recognised as one of the top providers of Dementia Care in Kent, and across the country, and want to bring my team to the next level of Dementia Nursing Care, where every individual excels with confidence and independence in managing every aspect of residents’ care needs. We will strive for industry recognition and awards for our team’s hard work and dedication and seek collaboration with national Dementia associations to ensure Lukestone is always at the forefront of new developments.

"When you love what you do, you tend to feel a sense of purpose and belonging and that's how I feel about Lukestone. I feel I am working with professionals that I can learn from.


Recently I got a job offer at the hospital, but when reality kicked-in I realised that I couldn't leave Lukestone. Also, when you have a very understanding Manager it makes it very hard to leave.


Karen has been very caring and understanding when it comes to work. I am currently five months pregnant and as soon as I told Karen she was willing to put me on easier floors.


We have a very good team of staff who work well together which helps us to provide person-centred care."

"I retired three years ago and often visit my mother who has been a resident at Lukestone since 2019. I enquired about being a volunteer, which was a simple process where I could help in activities. I enjoy working within this area as I find it very rewarding when I can make residents smile when they are feeling low.


I can appreciate the commitment of the Carers and how hard they work with our residents. This gives me an insight and helps me understand the caring side within a Nursing Home. I feel that I can support relatives of other residents and can make them feel at ease. I offer reassurance that their loved ones are being cared for safely, which makes them feel happy that the Home is as it should be."
