They now have a new manager, and she is doing a grand job. Such a lovely person.
Thank you so much for the review and words - we will pass the feedback onto our teams
I have found myself very emotional at times, watching my Mums physical and cognitive health decline, Management and staff have supported me and my family throughout these times, when it has been much needed.
I find comfort, knowing, she is being well looked after, listened to, and loved at Madeira.
Thank you everyone x
Our family love Team Madeira.
When I visited my brother-in-law, I was surprised to note that there was a music Video on the TV with the volume at full blast, followed by a music concert. Myself and other visitor could not converse due to the noise. Surely this is not appropriate for these residents? I suggest music from 1940s, 1950, and 1960s, music that they can relate to! Also, there seemed to be many staff standing around the kitchen area and not interacting with the very bored residents.
Many thanks for your feedback, it is valued and taken on board. We will look into this and get in touch with those on site, and I will ask our regional director to reach out to you to discuss how we can improve on this for your future visits.
My Mum's severe dementia means that her behaviour can be challenging to manage. During several recent visits I witnessed extreme kindness and excellent care from all staff, both towards my Mum and to me. As I live too far away to be able to visit as often as I would like knowing my Mum is being cared for so well is very reassuring. Thank you.
We were at breaking point and when the fire brigade were called, we knew the time had come to put mum in a home. She was a bag of bones, barely existing. Fast forward 6 months, and with the right support and care, mum is a new person. I cannot thank you enough for making my last memories with mum, happy ones. She is well fed, clean and looks engaged again. What makes the difference is the staff, the care and compassion shown is remarkable. The residents are treated with dignity and respect. To witness the staff treating the residents like they would a family member is touching. Every member of staff we have encountered cannot do enough to make the resident feel like they belong. Mum refuses to join in any activities but I can't fault the home for what they try to do. We've seen, singing, nail painting, bingo, baking to name a few. I would have no hesitation in recommending Maderia lodge as the perfect home from home, I've got part of the mum back I thought I'd lost. Thank you
These are fantastic words about the support you have received, and we are thankful we have been able to support you and your family during this time
My mum is in Madeira Lodge and has been for nearly a year now. She seems happy, and the staff are absolutely brilliant. I feel a lot happier knowing that my mum is being well looked after and cared for.
Thank you so much for taking the time to send us your very kind and supportive review. We are so happy that your Mum is happy and settled, and are delighted that you feel our team at Madeira Lodge is brilliant, we think so too - we are very proud of all of our team there and the hard work that they do. With warmest regards, from the Madeira Lodge Belmont Healthcare Team.
Here goes, I haven't seen mum look so lively and well in a long time. At home she was disengaged, staring into space and not looking after herself. She is now extremely happy and it shows in her face every time we go. She looks 10 years younger.
Staff go above and beyond. They genuinely care about their clients. You can see it is more than just a job. The care and devotion is second to none. I've heard staff singing with them and encouraging activities. Mum hasn't stopped going on about the live singer with his guitar. She has gone from being a loner to really enjoying herself. She loves it there.
Mum is now eating properly, they know she picks fish every time but still give her a choice.
I would recommend this home every time just for the care of the staff alone. Thank you for what you do.
Goodness - what an incredible review to read, thank you so, so much for your kind words. We will share these with our wonderful Manager and here care team at Madeira Lodge, we know they they will be thrilled to read them. We are delighted to hear that you Mum seems to be so much happier in her...
Although all the carers were very friendly, I observed how the carers interacted with the service users. Well, there was no interaction at all! They stood almost on guard, chatting to each other, there was no trying to interact at all with residents. Only did a service user stand up, that they would approach to be told to sit down. No magazines, books + just sitting, staring into space or falling asleep through boredom.
Hello and thank you for taking the time to send in your postal review. We are pleased to hear that you felt that Madeira Lodge is pleasant, clean, homely and a nicely furnished home. We're also pleased to hear that you felt our care team were friendly. We are however sorry to hear that you felt...
Mum has been a resident for nearly 4 years now. The care / support she receives is brilliant, if she needs anything all she has to do is ask. Always treated with dignity and respect by ALL staff, they are one big happy family, nothing is too much trouble for mum or me as a visitor! All rooms are always cleaned everyday to an excellent standard. Mum enjoys the food which they can choose from a menu, snacks/drinks are offered during every morning and afternoon if wanted. Carers will engage with activities if needed or required. Residents can watch TV in any of the 2 lounges. The home has regular singers in every month throughout the year. They hold summer events in the sunny garden/lounges for special days e.g. mothers day/fathers day/ easter etc on-site hairdresser available. Residents that are able to go on trips to the beach/ NR train etc. Mums feels happy/ safe/ settled at Madeira Lodge

I am very pleased that I found my sister Madeira Lodge. She is always smiling and very happy. The staff are wonderful with her. They are very friendly, helpful and efficient. The Home is kept very clean and run efficiently. I do not have any complaints about her being in there at all.

Even if he's had the slightest tumble they let us know.
He is always clean and tidy, well groomed and as smart as possible for someone that spills his dinner down himself (bless him).
He is always having a laugh and joking with the staff.
He is always very well-fed.
His room is always clean and tidy with fresh clothes hanging in his wardrobe.
Thank you, Madeira Lodge.
Thank you so much for this wonderful five-star review! We're so pleased that your dear Dad and family are happy with the care being provided and that he is settled. So nice to hear that he is always laughing and joking and that our wonderful team are friendly, caring and making him feel...
The staff are all friendly and helpful, and the residents who have different levels of need appear to be well cared for and well supported. The management has made magnificent efforts to make the home welcoming and 'user friendly'. I could not be more pleased with Madeira Lodge.
Wow! Thank you so much for your wonderful five-star review! It is always so nice to hear words like 'friendly', 'helpful', 'well cared for' and 'well supported'. We are so proud of our team, for enriching the lives of our residents. This has made our day! Thanks again, from all at Belmont Healthcare.
My ex-husband was admitted to Maderia Lodge after a very traumatic experience in a hospital and a care home a long way from home. I was unable to visit regularly and he became very distressed which they were unable to manage. He was labelled aggressive but the managers saw that to the man he was. Since the day he was admitted, he liked it and settled well with the help of the staff and their care and is happy and content.
We truly appreciate your kind words and five-star rating. This warms our hearts and we greatly appreciate you taking the time to do so. We're so pleased that your ex-husband is now settled, happy and content. We're so proud of our team and can't wait to share this with them. Thank You, from all at Belmont Healthcare.
He wears nappies and on our daily visits, we found them heavily soiled. This was clearly distressing and uncomfortable for him, and due to this, we found our visits became less about spending time together and more about cleaning up and settling him down.
His bedroom was left unclean and on several occasions, excrement was found everywhere, as he had been left unsupervised. This isn’t acceptable. We are pleased to see that, since bringing this to the staff’s attention, conditions have improved and we greatly hope this continues.
His meal plan has not been followed, which has often left him with an upset stomach. Fish/seafood should never be considered a food option for him. He does not have the capability to make his own decisions with this and cannot eat without support.
Thank you, we very much appreciate your feedback. We take care to ensure responses are dealt with as conclusively as possible and in good time. We are looking closely into the items discussed during our telephone call with you following your review. During that call, it was good to hear that in...
The care at this home is exemplary. Our mum has been poorly for weeks and unable to get out of bed, the care and love of all the staff is faultless. She hasn't eaten for a while, they will get her what she fancies and the encouragement by staff is second to none.
Pleased to say we have got over the last few weeks, all because of the devotion of these wonderful staff.
Thank you so much for sharing your lovely review. We appreciate you taking the time to do so. Sorry to hear your dear Mum has been unwell but pleased to hear she is on the mend and our lovely team have helped her to get there. Look forward to seeing you again soon. Take Care, from all at Belmont Healthcare.
My mum has only been here for five days, she came from another home. This home is wonderful, the staff are kind, friendly, helpful and there are plenty of them. So far it's been a good experience.
Thank you so much for taking the time to send us your feedback, which is appreciated very much. We're so pleased that you're happy with the care being provided and - we will ensure that your kind words are passed onto our care team, they are always grateful to receive such feedback. With warm wishes, from all at Belmont Healthcare.
The staff are superb in what they do, more importantly, my mum is very settled and content.
If I ask for anything they are always very obliging and will do their utmost to accommodate whatever needs we may ask for.
Again I cannot stress how happy I am with Mum being there.
Keep up the great work your staff are doing!

My mother in law became a resident at Madeira Lodge in June 2023. The kindness and care shown to her is outstanding and the understanding of her dementia is high. The home is bright and residents are free to wander throughout the home. Activities are undertaken with the residents daily and families are encouraged to visit and participate in these and made to feel welcome. Staff support both the resident and families in this challenging time
We appreciate you taking the time to leave us an excellent review. We're delighted to know that we have exceeded your expectations and that you feel at ease knowing your dear Mother-in-law is in safe, kind hands. We're always here to support you all and you're welcome anytime. Thank you so much, from all at Belmont Healthcare.
