An excellent Hawaii themed BBQ party. Such a lot of work undertaken in all areas - welcomed with a garland of flowers, lovely food and drink, all combined to make a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon where residents and visitors felt relaxed. Thank you.

Hello, let me start by saying please do not believe all you read, after reading the reviews of Madeira Lodge I was very apprehensive about placing my stepdad into this home.
We have never experienced dementia before and after having an awful experience whilst he was in hospital I was very anxious about placing him in any way that could cater for his needs. I received the list of possible homes and Madeira Lodge was on there, like I said the reviews showed the home in not a good light but I decided to give it a call as I was torn about where to send him, this is where everything changed.
Firstly I spoke with the home's manager who was so welcoming and gave me that spark I needed to come and view the home she was polite and very professional and above all else told me not to worry, and what the home could offer so I made the appointment.

I met on arrival, this home was what he needed staff and facilities were fantastic they really know what caring for someone is.

My mother, who had been a resident of Madeira Lodge for almost ten years, sadly passed in 2021.
She had a very happy time, surrounded by very friendly, caring and professional staff.
Now her sister, my aunt, is a resident, and I wanted the same level of care and love for her. I had no hesitation in placing her at Madeira Lodge despite my journey of 2 hours each way to see her.

She is happy, safe and well cared for - that is all you want for your loved ones.

My father has been in Madeira Lodge for 2 and a half years but sadly passed away on the 16th February 2022.

He had been in a few other care homes previously but they were unable to look after him due to his behaviour. As soon as he arrived at Maderia Lodge we knew it was the place he would spend his final years - safe, secure, well cared for, loved and well fed.

I picked my mum up for a belated Christmas lunch which she thoroughly enjoyed. The young staff member which greeted me was so kind. Her helpfulness and gentleness of getting my mum in the car and same again when I returned. She was so gentle with her which made my mum smile. I can honestly say my mum's settled and happy which makes me happy and smile too.

My husband, who died recently, was in his 16th year of Alzhiemers. He was a patient in Madeira Lodge for 2 ad a half years and during this time I can only speak in glowing terms of the loving care, compassion and empathy he received from Matron and her well trained staff. He was also nursed most efficiently during two bouts of COVID, hip operation recovery and two illnesses. Latterly he no longer knew me or my family but responded happily to Matron and staff. During the two days of his final illness, Matron ensured he was made comfortable, received dignity and, by obtaining appropriate medical assistance, he died peacefully.

Mum has been at Maderia Lodge since June 2021. She has been well cared for from the start. Staff are very patient and caring. Due to COVID restrictions, I have not seen her room yet and only recently have been in the lounges, lovely rooms. I am impressed by the activities in which Mum participates. The atmosphere is relaxed and happy. Mum enjoys her food here.

My mum arrived at Madeira Lodge Care Home following being given notice by a nursing home who were no longer able to look after her properly and were struggling to meet her basic needs and those of her dementia following a horrific fall. When she first arrived she was continually shouting for help, was very frightened and anxious almost to the point of being unrecognisable as my mum. She has been at Madeira Lodge Care Home now for five weeks. In this time they have not only addressed all of her basic needs but she has been seen by a district nurse on numerous occasions who has provided essential health care, the mental health team and her GP and she has been transported to the hospital by Madeira Lodge for fracture clinic appointments with a familiar carer. The team of staff have positively identified strategies to support her dementia alongside caring, loving and supporting her to the highest level, making her feel safe, secure and one of their extended family. Thank you for giving us back our mum.

My mother has dementia and Alzheimers and has been with Madeira Lodge Care Home for nearly a year now. The staff are always friendly and offer amazing service. They are always friendly, attentive and professional, and nothing is too much trouble for them. Mum is very happy there and has settled in very well. The staff are always doing things to engage with the residents with all sorts of activities. The home is kept to a very high standard, and they are at present adding new rooms. I can't praise the staff enough for what they do here. Well done and thank you.

This is a professionally run service with reliable and long-serving staff. The care is personal and friendly while giving relatives of residents a sense of confidence and security. I have always been impressed by the carer's understanding and willingness to individualise the care given to residents, especially during such difficult times as experienced this year. It is so difficult to leave a loved one when they live with dementia, but knowing they are as happy as they can be and safely looked after takes a lot of the worry away. A really genuine big thank you to the experienced managers and their knowledgeable staff.

My dad's diagnosis of Vascular Dementia and Alziehmers meant we could no longer meet his needs and keep him free from harm. We originally booked him into Maderia Lodge for respite care but it soon became apparent he needed the specialist care the home provided 24 hours a day. Not only do the kind and caring staff look after Dad, but they also take into consideration the well-being of family members (who have been fantastic support when times have been challenging for us). All the staff at the home are very welcoming and it has a very homely friendly atmosphere. Dad has been at the home for 14 months and the family cannot praise the staff enough for providing a high standard of care to everyone, there are no words to describe our gratitude to the staff for the love and care they give to dad, keeping him safe, warm and well-fed.

My mother passed away 3.7.19 - the whole family are devastated. Although we knew this is what my mother wanted, it was still very hard to come to terms with.
The staff at Madeira Lodge are absolutely amazing, I cannot fault any of them. They kept us informed of every step of her journey. They made sure my mother was as comfortable as she could be. The night staff that were on duty at the time of my mother's passing were so kind and compassionate. They are a real credit to the management, they have been trained well. I personally could not do their job.
We spent two nights at Madeira Lodge. The manager and deputy manager could not have been more accommodating, allowing family members who had travelled a long way to take showers and a place to sleep.

The cook kept us supplied with some amazing food and drinks, that you would find in a 5* restaurant, so appreciated. It was so lovely to hear lots of staff visiting mum before she passed, retelling stories of what she had been up to. Thank you.

Today my Nan passed away here at Madeira Lodge. Whilst my family and I were here we were all made to feel like we were at home, make a cup of tea, or some toast, have a shower, the home was ours. I stayed Monday night and throughout my time, not only was I well informed, but I also didn't feel that I had to chase up the home for anything (medication/nan being turned etc). The Manager was amazing. 100% supporting all of us. Another carer there went above and beyond and even sat with my Nan and we all left giving my Nan an opportunity to slip away from us all (which she didn't take....). Another carer too goes above and beyond, but as do all the staff. They treat my Nan like their own family and many even came in on their days off to say goodbye and tell us lots of stories about Nan.

I cannot recommend this home enough. Please do not hesitate to place a loved one here. If you want them to be looked after and treated like family, then here is where they need to go.
