I am so happy and relieved to have found a care home for my Mum where residents are treated as the individuals they are. The extremely dedicated team, including carers, activity coordinators, kitchen, domestic and maintenance staff (alongside the management and administrative team) work really hard
to provide a home from home atmosphere. I am particularly impressed with the variety of activities and outings arranged which provide much-needed stimulation and interest for the residents.

The staff are so caring to the residents and all get on with the residents, family and friends that visit.
They are very helpful.
The kitchen staff are lovely and cook what they can for the individual residents where possible.

I used Bridge Haven for my mother in law in 2010 after inspecting lots of others. Was very pleased with the service etc.
We searched other homes again when my wife needed residential care in 2017. Bridge Haven again came out as the best, hence my opinions listed below;

1. Dedication of staff.
2.

Staff appear to really enjoy their job.
3. Design and layout of the building.
4. Food of excellent quality and variations.
5. Never smells.
6. Lovely outdoor areas.
7. Often & regular entertainment.
8. A very bright, airy, welcoming and open plan aspect.
9. Family forum to involve residents families.
Reply from Frances Lake, Customer Support Officer at Bridge Haven Care HomeThank you for your positive feedback, we value all comments from residents and their family members. We are very proud of our staff and their dedication to those whose home they work in

My Aunt was a demanding resident, resisting attempts at personal care. Despite this, the home did all they could to ensure her needs were met and her dignity retained.

The most caring home you could ever wish for. The staff genuinely care about the patients. It's always spotlessly clean. The food is of a high standard. The facilities are plentiful with a cinema, pub and tea rooms and the staff go above and beyond for all patients and their families.

My dear mother in law is very well looked after and in the only safe place. The staff are good at what they do but are often not supported by the use of agency staff who are often untrained.

My mother has been at the home for the last two and a half years. She is happy and settled there. The staff are caring and seem genuinely fond of Mum.
I visit at least twice a week and always feel welcome. I go at various times and have no complaints.

To me the staff I come across, in particular, regular ones (not agency) have the residents well being at heart. Sometimes they become overwhelmed when multiple incidents occur.
Overall I am satisfied with the running of the home and feel my mother in law is safe, well fed and in the best possible place.

The care home is modern, spacious, airy and spotlessly clean. It is well equipped. The bedroom is ensuite and is spacious, comfortable and has a view of the garden. The staff are first class, despite the difficulties. There is a friendly atmosphere and visitors are made to feel very welcome at any time.
When issues arise, the communication is good. We would like to see even more visiting activities and even better staff/patient ratio but appreciate the issues.
We would vehemently recommend Bridge Haven.

Bridge Haven provided a caring environment for my father as increasing frailty meant that he could no longer live at home. The staff were sensitive to his needs and made him welcome. They made sure that he kept up his appearance (for example by keeping him clean shaven). They also made family and other
visitors welcome. Activities have been scored lower as this was one area where more could be done but overall, we are grateful for the caring support provided.

My very first impression was wonderful, a friendly smile and very reassuring from staff members that my mum would be really looked after and when you are making this huge decision that means everything. Bridge Haven is small enough to feel like a family and all the staff are so kind and caring when
I leave Mum after visiting I am happy that all the staff really care. My mum has really thrived on the care at Bridge Haven and looks so much better and describes Bridge Haven as a five-star hotel. The food is particularly good. This has made a very difficult decision a lot easier to cope with.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.517)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.517) out of 10 for Bridge Haven Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 17 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.592 for Bridge Haven Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (132 Excellents x 5) + (57 Goods x 4) + (11 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 201 Ratings = 4.592
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.925 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bridge Haven Care Home is based on 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.925
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 53 registered maximum number of service users is 10.6, which has been reached with 17 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
