Bridge Haven Care Centre has a rural setting in the village of Bridge, close to the city of Canterbury in Kent. It provides care and support for older people living with dementia and strives to give them a new and exciting quality of life during their time at the home.

The home’s philosophy of care is to eradicate loneliness and boredom by promoting social interaction and engagement.

Avante Care and Support understands the importance of a good environment for residents living with dementia. Bridge Haven's refurbishment means it offers two beautifully designed suites called Bluebell and Primrose.

Many of the rooms have an added luxury of patio doors leading out to the secure gardens surrounding Bridge Haven. The home boasts a number of open plan lounges and dining areas with a style and view to suit everyone.

Whenever I visit my sister, I am impressed by the kindness of any member of staff I speak to. All the staff I have observed, whether dealing with my sister or any other resident, respond with sympathy, patience and understanding and also show affection to those who seek it, as my sister does.

My mum has been a resident here since 2017, the staff and management at Bridge Haven Care Home have always been caring, considerate, respectful and attentive to the needs of the people in their care. I don't have one specific experience to refer to as there have been so many examples of the above over

My Great Grandma went to heaven at Bridge Haven after being there a long time. But every time I visited with my granddad or my mum she was happy and the staff made her smile and gave me some biscuits. She loved Bingo.

Very pleased with the care my mother received. Staff are very friendly and confident. The place was always clean and tidy, the food was very good, and the patients were always looked after well. Could not have asked for more for my mum during her final time with us.

The whole setup is superb. The staff all seem to genuinely care for Mum and look after her every need.
The facilities are excellent, and there seems to be plenty of top-quality equipment to look after each resident and their individual needs.
If there are any issues at all, a senior nurse calls immediately,
and communication with the family is constant.
Mum is never left on her own and is constantly checked, supported, entertained and looked after.
The food seems very good, and Mum never seems to be hungry.
She seems very content at all times, and as a family, we are very happy that she is safe, comfortable and happy.

All of my mother-in-law's needs are being met on a daily basis. All staff are very attentive to her moods and needs. Communication between staff, client and family are very good. Any issues are dealt with very quickly. We can phone at any time and nothing is ever too much trouble.

I have been very impressed with the care and attention Dad gets from most of the staff. The home appears clean and well-organised. He is very happy in Bridge Haven and appears more relaxed and content in this home.

It was lovely to be able to see my friend in a more relaxed setting following the restrictions of lockdown. She looked clean and happy. She has a good relationship with the staff who treat her with consideration and respect even though she can be difficult at times. It was a hot day, so she was provided
with a cold drink. The staff were attentive, making sure that the residents drank the drinks provided. On the day I visited, the staff were good-humoured and efficient.

My sister and I visited together for Mum’s 90th birthday. We were impressed that all staff were aware of the occasion and the personal knowledge, care and compassion shown for our mother, was lovely to see. She smiled and related to staff well, as she had done on many occasions. We saw her room for
the first time and walked through. The home generally and her room were immaculate. Her bathroom was pristine. Her photos and pictures were nicely displayed, so she could see them. Staff were smiley, gentle and thoughtful, giving us time together, whilst being on hand, should we have needed them. It was a lovely occasion. Staff also show much empathy and understanding towards our situation and feelings, which is very much appreciated. Mum seems happy and it is often nice, when we come away, as staff come to get her, she smiles warmly at them. This is a comfort to us.
One suggestion is that name badges would be nice for all staff, so we can talk about them to Mum and know ‘the family’. Thank you.

I cannot praise too highly the care and attention that my wife has received since becoming a resident over 2 years ago. Whenever she has had any problems, they have been attended to in a most professional and compassionate manner. The way that they coped with the multitude of problems thrown at them
by the pandemic deserves the highest praise. During this time they also managed to keep us fully informed of all that was happening. Many, many thanks.

The team at Bridge Haven has taken exceptional care of my mother since she moved there last summer. They are always kind and compassionate and take the time to ensure she has everything she needs, or just to chat with her. They have maintained the highest levels of safety throughout these difficult
times, monitoring testing of all visitors and offering sensible solutions to the limitations forced on them by the Covid pandemic. The home is clean and beautifully maintained and offers a huge range of activities and support for its residents. It genuinely feels like a "home from home" environment.

Very caring and supportive to mum. The care home staff are always so welcoming and I greatly appreciate the support they have given me during this difficult period.


It has not been easy with the social distancing restrictions, but they have done their best to facilitate visits when allowed.


I

have only rated the room ‘Good’ below as I have been unable to see inside yet because of the pandemic, but this is no reflection on the facilities.

The care and love that my mum received from all the staff at Bridge Haven was unprecedented. This wasn’t a care home, it was her home and the staff were her family. They made her laugh, smile and she was happy. They went out of their way to ensure that Mum was clean, safe, happy, well-fed, entertained
and loved. Some of the care staff even visited Mum in hospital on their days off. Their care didn't only focus on her, but also on us and we miss them very much.

The care my husband has received in Bridge Haven is second to none. He is always treated with respect and dignity. The staff interaction with the residents is always with humour, sympathy and caring. The meals are well planned, nutritious and beautifully presented. The cleanliness is superb as is the
laundry service. Definitely 5 stars.

I am so happy and relieved to have found a care home for my Mum where residents are treated as the individuals they are. The extremely dedicated team, including carers, activity coordinators, kitchen, domestic and maintenance staff (alongside the management and administrative team) work really hard
to provide a home from home atmosphere. I am particularly impressed with the variety of activities and outings arranged which provide much-needed stimulation and interest for the residents.

The staff are so caring to the residents and all get on with the residents, family and friends that visit.
They are very helpful.
The kitchen staff are lovely and cook what they can for the individual residents where possible.
