My aunt went into St Winifred’s Care home for respite, back in March 2019.
We found the staff to be excellent. Our aunt decided she would return to St Winifred’s after a short return home.
The wonderful team supported her every need. The happiness we saw in our aunt was just fantastic. Support from the residents welcoming her into the group. St Winifred’s have great activities, and encourage family to participate in family days. We are very lucky to see our aunt spend just over a year with the caring staff.

Thank you St Winifred’s.

Reply from Hazel Terry, Home Manager at St Winifreds Care Centre

Dear Brian, it was a pleasure to look after your aunt and she is sadly missed, it was always a pleasure to have you visit her, she did enjoy herself didn't she. I would like to thank you for your kind words and it was a pleasure, and on behalf of all the staff team at St Winifreds thank you.

My mother went into this home December 2019 just for respite due to my health and was to be only for a few weeks until I was able to continue to look after her. Mum was living in a flat on her own with myself visiting every day. Mum is a diabetic and with kidney problems she had good days and bad days. The staff at the home made her so comfortable and giving her the purpose for living that she asked if she could stay on a permanent basis. Mum and I talked hard and long and I have not looked back since. She has friends around her and the care staff and nursing staff have looked after her and listened to her in the best way possible. I did get recommendations from family and friends when deciding which care home was best and there is no question that St Winifreds in Deal is the best. Keep up the great work you are doing.

St Winifreds is like a home from home. Very comfortable atmosphere, not the least bit clinical. My Mother in law (89) is very happy and content thanks to the wonderful staff. She is a vegetarian and chef makes sure she gets a varied menu to choose from, nothing is too much trouble.

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic the home has been amazing, not one patient contracting the disease. I would highly recommend St. Winifreds to all.

Thank you so much for leaving your feedback which is so helpful when we share with staff to show what a difference their care and hard work makes. It is also very helpful to potential residents and their families when making the difficult decision to consider moving to a care home. Your reassurance is priceless! Thank you.

My mother went to St Winifreds to live just over a year ago. She is 93 and has vascular dementia and Alzheimer's. She has been very well cared for, especially during this difficult lockdown period which was introduced by The Home before the majority of the country and I'm sure this decision has helped to keep everyone safe.

My Mother has been in the care of St Winifred’s for almost 3 years now. She is very well looked after by fantastic Staff and during the period of ‘lockdown’, they have cared for her as if she was their own family. They have kept her safe and happy. This is the third care home Mum has been in and I really wish we had found this one first........it is certainly the best!

Your feedback is so warmly received; it is great for us to share the impact we have on the resident and their family from the care we give. The manager and staff have worked so hard to keep the home Covid free, and we appreciate your acceptance of some of our social distancing rules. Hopefully, we will see you very soon.

My mother is very happy here and they provide excellent care which meets her needs. During the outbreak, I have been updated regularly on her wellbeing along with photos by email from the manager. So apart from not being able to see my mum as of the understandable shutdown and precautions put in place I am pleased that all residents and staff have been well through this and I have no worries on the care for my mum and look forward to being able to visit in the coming weeks. I on a personal level have never had any issues with all involved and find it is an excellent place and would always recommend to anybody.

My 93-year-old mother has now been a resident at St Winifred’s for four years. She has vascular dementia and over the years her mental and physical condition has slowly deteriorated. The caring staff have constantly reviewed her care plan to ensure that she receives the best possible care. She is encouraged to eat the well-prepared meals and to take part in activities. The staff are all very pleasant and cheerful and keep me well informed.

We had to find somewhere for my mother at short notice last Autumn as she was discharged from hospital and could no longer cope on her own. The hospital found a place at St Winifred's which we had imagined would be short term while we searched for permanent care (I have to admit my knowledge of St Winifred's dates from the 80's and trust me it has changed a lot). 8 months later and mum is still there, really happy, cared for, and most of all safe. The team at St Winifred's are absolutely lovely, the atmosphere is caring and warm, I am so glad a place came up when we needed it. I would thoroughly recommend it.

My mother-in-law was only at the home for a short time as unfortunately, she passed away on the 10th. My Stepdad used to go to St Winifreds for respite care until it got too much for us to have him at home, after one such stay he said he would happily live at St Winifreds full time!! I think that says more than I ever can - he loves it there and they seem to love having him there.
The staff are so good to him and nothing is too much trouble for them. Since the pandemic things are a little harder for the staff, residents and relatives but thankfully Dad is on the ground floor and I can 'speak' to him through the window when I take his TV paper.
Also since the pandemic, the relatives get a weekly report from the Manager so we all know how the staff are coping, what is happening and how our relatives are.
I know if I have any concerns I can ring and get any answers I need.

Fab place, fab staff - says it all.

Reply from Alison Ruddock, Operations & Compliance Manager at St Winifreds Care Centre
How wonderful; it is great when the resident has been able to be part of the consideration and decision-making process when choosing a care home, and obviously, the regular respite made this easier. It is a privilege to look after him.

The staff at St. Winifred's are always approachable, professional and friendly. They show an incredible amount of care and affection towards their residents. During the Covid crisis, we have been very impressed by their commitment to keeping residents safe and keeping relatives informed of progress. During 'lockdown', my mother celebrated a milestone birthday. Obviously, family members were unable to be with her in person but the staff went above and beyond expectations, making sure her birthday was celebrated and that she had a very special day. This is just one example of the personal care and attention my mother has received during her time at the home.

My Mother-in-Law has been a resident at St Winifreds for just over 5 years, and I am more than happy with the care and attention she has received.
Due to various health issues in the past, every hospital visit/stay was organised with thought relieving me of that burden.
The group had the foresight to stop visitors almost 2 weeks before other Care Homes, thus protecting Staff and Residents.
We are thankful that possibly that is the reason why there have been no cases of Covid-19 at St Winifreds. Regular updates are sent, which keep us well informed.

The Management and the Staff are doing an exemplary job in these challenging times.

I have been extremely impressed with the way St. Winifreds has handled this pandemic. At the beginning, they closed down visiting a few weeks before the actual lockdown, which was hard but very sensible. They have had very strict rules and no residents have caught the virus, the girls there have been keeping residents entertained and even has a carer that has been singing to them and learning more songs to keep them entertained.
I know all of this because every week the Manager emails a newsletter tellings us what's going on and keeping us up to date, we also have pictures of our relatives, which are lovely to see after so long.

I am very happy my mother is there, the girls (and boys) are all so lovely, I phone regularly and the staff are always happy to take my calls.

Reply from Alison Ruddock, Operations & Compliance Manager at St Winifreds Care Centre

I had to move my wife from the previous care home under considerable duress and I can’t praise St. Winifreds staff and management enough. It was like walking into a different world. My wife started to mix again and wanted to explore on her first day. The carers do a great job and treat residents and visitors alike they always have time to update me on my wife’s condition and her general demeanour each day before I actually see my wife. The first thing I noticed was management and staff always have a smile for you - which helps a lot!

I’d like to say a big thank you to them all especially for their work and amount of effort they have all endured due to the ongoing Coronavirus scare. Very well done!
