Your fees cover several areas while in their care.
These services are: Personal care, accommodation,
utilities, use of communal areas, meals, drinks and

Services NOT included in price are: dentistry, chiropody,
physiotherapy, occupational therapy, opticians, hairdressing,
medications, toiletries, clothing, newspapers/magazines.
During your stay, you may need to purchase additional goods
and services. If they are able to provide such goods and
services, they will tell you how much these goods and services
will cost and they expect that you will pay for these goods and
services at the time you request them.
They can accompany loved ones to private appointments,
however the fee attached to this is £21 per hour. Where private taxi
services are used for transportation to appointments the cost should
be paid for by yourself.

All facilities at Meadowcroft are very good except for activities, these are very poor. Most times that I visit, residents are sat in the lounge in front of the television. There doesn't seem to be any stimulation. Coffee morning has a local pop station playing music, this could be improved with music
that the age group remembers ie Vera Lyn, 1940's/1950's music, videos of old films or musicals.

My dad was in Meadowcroft for end of life care, spending the final few weeks of his life there. From the moment we started trying to get him a bed, we were helped with compassion, professionalism, dignity and respect. The staff were amazing and went over and above in getting us and Dad everything we
needed, including a 'brandy', when Dad was in his final house (for us not him!). They did everything they could to ensure Dad was comfortable. I stayed with Dad for several nights towards the end and was made very comfortable during that time.

I found Meadowcroft Nursing Home to be amazing. My dad was admitted there for his end of life. The staff were caring, compassionate and respectful to both Dad and the rest of the family. The nursing unit were so knowledgeable and understood Dad's complex medical needs right from the start. They were
professional but also incredibly caring towards Dad. The whole home and Dad's room was clean, tidy and well-kept. All the staff made a really hard, difficult and sad situation more bearable. I would recommend this home to anyone in need of nursing care.

Caring staff, both for the patient and the family. Respectful and helpful. Never heard a raised voice to dementia patients. Excellent.
Only comment: support of outside NHS staff was slow and disorganised. Medication prescribed on Thursday could only be administered at 19.00 on Saturday! This is through
no fault of the care home.

Very happy with the care provided - the staff are incredibly kind and caring and are very patient with my Nan. Every effort is made to help her socialise and do a little more, which can be tough at times. I feel happy and confident that she is in good hands with staff who can provide the increased care
and support she now needs. Management are also great - they have been compassionate and caring throughout what has been an exceptionally tough couple of years, providing support to both me as an essential carer but also to the wider family.

We were more than happy with the excellent care our aunt received during her time in Meadowcroft. She was extremely happy in the home and considered the staff as her extended family. She was always treated with respect and loved it when they had a laugh with her. The staff were exceptional with their

COVID restrictions have limited my opportunity to fully assess your service provided to my mother. What I have witnessed is a very caring environment where individual needs are met to the best of abilities available. If I have a negative point it is understaffing in the facility. Those present go above
and beyond the call of duty to do their utmost to maintain the service provided. Sadly, Mum was unable to take advantage of activities due to COVID.

With a guilty heart, I had to put my mum into Meadowcroft as I was unable to see to her needs at 100. After 2 falls her mobility was compromised and her world shrank. On being made an essential caregiver, I could see on my twice weekly visits the level of care, devotion and patience given by the staff,
especially under COVID with less staff and time for residents. My mother would have enjoyed more activities and interaction with people but COVID stopped that. As her health declined the staff, especially in her last hours were absolutely magnificent and I too was helped and supported at all times by the staff which was a godsend.

I came to Meadowcroft on 7th May to recuperate after a hip replacement.
Everything that has happened to me since arriving here has been superlative - the encouragement I have had from all your staff has been the driving force at getting me properly well again. I arrived on crutches and just 5 weeks
later I am walking with no sticks. I cannot believe what I have given in terms of the environment, understanding and help - spectacular. Thank you!

Mum has dementia and has always been treated with great care and kindness at Meadowcroft. She has a lovely cosy room, the meals are very appetizing and are served in the dining room which is like a small restaurant. There are plenty of activities and outings for residents to keep them motivated and
the Christmas festivities and especially Christmas Dinner is amazing. There is a very pretty garden to take advantage of when the weather permits. When circumstances are such that you cannot take care of your loved one yourself at home, Meadowcroft with all its facilities is the ideal solution with the professional friendly and homely atmosphere.

This care home is superbly managed and has a strong caring team in place. Individuals are treated with respect and time is taken to get to know the individual, life experiences and concerns. The staff are always welcoming and make time to chat when I ring. When we visited for the first time after lockdown, the staff were very efficient in checking us in and doing the covid test. We had a good visit with my aunt and the staff seemed very gentle with her and very compassionate as she was
a little emotional after not seeing us for 4 months.

Cannot thank the staff enough for their continued care of my mum. She has advanced dementia and can sometimes be very challenging to look after, however, the staff always treat her with kindness and with a smile. Rachel

Rachel Greenough

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2018

Rachel joined The Orders of St John Care Trust in 2018 as Home Manager of Meadowcroft in Thame. She has vast experience of nearly 30 years working in the care industry and holds NVQs in Health and Social Care Management and Community Mental Health.


Having managed various types of residential and support services, Rachel has developed skills over the years enabling her to effectively manage and support the busy team at Meadowcroft. She is passionate about providing high quality care and works with residents, their families and the team to ensure care is tailored to the individual and maximises opportunities for independence.


Being fully immersed in the day-to-day running of the home, Rachel’s busy schedule can be different every day. She enjoys the diversity of the role and values moments with residents.


In her spare time Rachel can be found tending to her garden, doing DIY, enjoying football and reading.

Jacky

Jacky Thomas

Job Title: Bursar Joined: 2018

Jacky’s role as Bursar at Meadowcroft means that she is often at the centre of activity within the home.


Jacky is an expert in managing a busy workload and, among her many responsibilities, she supervises ancillary staff, arranges training, is responsible for ordering for the home in-line with budgets and ensures the smooth-running of day-to-day activities such as gardening, residents’ shopping and mealtimes.


Jacky joined The Orders of St John Care Trust in 2018 and enjoys learning something new each day. She finds her role rewarding because of the difference she knows it makes to the lives of Meadowcroft residents.


Jacky likes to spend her spare time walking her dogs, socialising with family and friends and is partial to a bit of retail therapy.

Scott

Scott Turvey

Job Title: Dementia Leader Joined: 2011

Scott holds an NVQ levels 2 and 3 in Dementia and a level 2 in Leadership and has worked for The Orders of St John Care Trust since 2011. He got promoted to one of Meadowcroft’s Care Leaders and is now the Dementia Lead.


As the Dementia Care Leader, Scott's role consists of running a household and leading a team, looking after vulnerable people with many different health conditions, and providing person centred care to support the day to day living of individuals. As the Dementia Lead, he works closely with staff, residents and the admiral nurse team to help the team at Meadowcroft provide outstanding dementia care.


Scott has always been interested in a career in care. He enjoys getting to know all about the residents’ lives, their likes and dislikes, what makes a difference to them and what helps to put a smile on their face. This passion and drive was recognised on two different occasions when Scott was awarded ‘Young Carer of the Year’ and ‘Carer of the Year’ at OSJCT’s Oxfordshire Employee Awards.


In Scott’s spare time he enjoys listening to music, playing games, socialising and going walking.

Helen

Helen Butler

Job Title: Head Housekeeper Joined: 2011

Helen has several years’ experience working in the care sector and has been Head Housekeeper at Meadowcroft since 2011.


Helen is a naturally tidy and organised person with NVQs in Hospitality and Supervision which helps in her role to ensure the residents’ rooms, bathrooms and the entire home is kept beautifully hygienic and spick and span. She organises her team’s daily activity with a structured approach to ensure every part of this large home is maintained properly and to allow for areas of priority throughout the day.


Helen is proud to maintain high standards throughout the home and enjoys getting to know residents and their families. She is particularly proud of a raffle she helped organise at the home which raised over £200 for the RAF.


When she is not at work Helen fits in long walks around volunteering on a heritage railway and helping to run a youth group.

Jobin

Jobin Sebastian

Job Title: Care Leader Joined: 2009

Jobin is the Care Leader at Meadowcroft, joining the Trust in 2009. He started working in the care sector in 2008 and began his career as a Health Care Assistant and has subsequently worked his way up to Care Leader. His role is to ensure the residents here have an active and purposeful life.


Jobin said "Meadowcroft is a sociable and a great part of our local Thame Community as most of the residents are from the nearby area. I love how involved we are. I am so proud to work alongside a great team. We are one big Meadowcroft family."


Outside of his work hours, Jobin spends time with his family and spend lots of his time cultivating vegetables in his allotment and at home. Jobin also loves cooking.


Jobin is happy to be part of Meadowcroft which in his opinion, is the best care home in the area and beyond!

Paul

Paul Silver

Job Title: Chef Joined: 2021

Paul is a chef at Meadowcroft in Thame. He joined the Trust in May 2021, and has worked in care homes for the last 10 years. He gained NVQ Level 2 in Catering & Hospitality at Henley College, and has worked in catering all his life.


Paul has a young Labrador – Charlie, that enjoys his walks!

Gail

Gail Close

Job Title: Deputy Manager Joined: 2021

Gail is a qualified RGN and has worked in oncology and palliative care before moving into care settings. She started at Meadowcroft in 2021 as a nurse before being promoted to Deputy Manager.


She enjoys the challenges and diversity of the role, including supporting all the staff to offer individualised care to all the residents.


When she isn’t at work Gail can either be found running along the Phoenix Trail, cheering on Chinnor Rugby or curled up with a coffee and a book.
